Sniffling and clearly distressed, Ceri turns to look at the man that addresses her while still holding firmly onto her bags, only to find the familiar sight of pink hair and tattoos guy from that one wrestling match. Ma… Mark? Maison? Manuel? Whatever his name is! What matters more than that is that he’s smiling like some psychopath while watching her fight for her life.

In the heat of the moment, her usual sweet and adorable act is nowhere to be found, and yet her eyes are still watery, and she still looks at him pleadingly while holding back tears. Maybe it really isn’t an act…

She hadn’t really planned on getting drunk tonight, but the idea sounds way too fun to pass up. Much more fun than sitting at some nice restaurant, at least, although the food does look delicious and it also comes with some amusing opportunities.

Like that of sliding her foot closer to him under the table as they talk and enjoy their meal, closer and closer while her gaze remains fixed on him. At one particular point of the conversation, when deemed appropriate and having his full attention, her foot touches his, the point of a heel gently moving up to his ankle in a way that has been all too practiced...

And then he kicks her away.

There is, of course. Too much, really, since Ceri is far from the sweet and innocent girl many would believe her to be. Not particularly innocent, not particularly sweet. Although, in Elliott’s defense, there had been a time during her first year of university when one particularly fucked up class about alcohol poisoning had stopped her from drinking for a few weeks… Until she realized that anything can be toxic and that there’s nothing fun about partying sober.

Of course Ceri had not expected to hear someone calling her name in the middle of the woods, yet when she sees him, she smiles – recognition coming easily enough despite his doubts. Yes, she had had one too many shots and been drunk, but she sure as hell hadn’t been drunk enough not to remember the hot bartender, alright?

For all of its flaws and all of its chaos, Hoenn is apparently a pretty clean region. Not the best habitat for that kind of pokémon.

While Ceri would love to ask what sort of experiments the Rocket underboss performs in his own time, it just doesn’t seem appropriate for her to pry, and even in all of her impulsiveness she knows not to do as much.

So, it’s a good thing that the questions flee her mind soon enough, being replaced by one too many theories about what might happen the moment the bright orange liquid that fills her syringe enters the Slowking’s bloodstream.
[break][break]
It doesn’t take long for them to find out either, because it’s with a slight nod that she proceeds the moment she’s given the go ahead to do as much – the serum being injected into the drip that has kept the pokémon sedated all this time.
[break][break]
At first, there are no signs, but she watches carefully, taking detailed notes of the Slowking’s state. It’s when its skin begins to acquire a purplish shade that she puts her pen down, staring in amazement. ”It’s working…” Her words are but a whisper, as if not wanting to jinx it, and then…
[break][break]
Then the Slowking cries out in pain.
[break][break]
The Shellder’s fangs, which before were barely visible, are now much more pronounced, digging deeper as if it were trying to swallow the Slowking whole from the head down. There's a thought of how it make sense, since a Galarian Slowking’s Shellder covers most of its head, but blood is drawn by it, dripping down onto the table. Pained, the Slowking reaches up, trying to pull the Shellder off its head, but the latter does not give in, and fangs dig deeper.

It would probably be a terrifying sight to some, fitting of some horror movie, but Ceri watches in silence as it happens, notes being taken as if she were unaffected by it.

There’s a short and gentle laugh when hearing his words, because it’s all just too funny to her. That’s the part that he questions and isn’t embarrassed about? She probably shouldn’t be as surprised as she is, but then again, they don’t really know each other all that well, do they?

Naturally, as should only be expected, these words come with a wink, because as much as Ceri may tell herself that she’ll give him a chance to relax, the fact of the matter is that she just can’t help herself. It’s too damn fun.

It would be impossible for Ceri to deny that she loves things like these; that she likes having people wrapped around her finger and seeing the way they react to her words and actions. But, there’s also something else… There’s the way Elliott’s so genuine about everything, so honest in the way he acts. It’s refreshing, it’s sweet, and it makes her enjoy his company even more than what she'd be willing to admit.

When was the last time Ceri actually bothered with going on a date? Between school, her work at the lab, and all of the other jobs she picks up here and there for the sake of making ends meet, there’s not really time for things like those in her life, and yet out of all people, he had sparked her interest and amused her enough for the word to leave her lips so very easily...

And so, a date it is. And so, she tries on about six different outfits and makes a mess out of her room before heading out to meet him in Sootopolis. A short skirt, a cute sweater, a beret… A perfect attire for this Autumn weather.

All of the snacks she had bought for her upcoming all-nighter… All of the few groceries she could afford with her poor finances… All of the supplies that were supposed to last her at least two weeks… All of it threatens to be lost within seconds because a Snorlax suddenly and unexpectedly grabs onto her bags and won’t let go.

Is it wild or is it someone’s pokémon?

That doesn’t matter! It’s trying to take her food!

Holding onto the bags with both hands as she is, Ceri can’t reach for any of her pokéballs, finding herself on the verge of tears as she looks up at the pokémon.
