It’s likely what he wants her to do, and yet the way he blushes is adorable, his embarrassment being so very obvious.

So, she doesn’t let go, instead giving another gentle squeeze.

”You don’t have to apologize, Elliott.” Ceri tilts her head slightly, as if she were confused as to why he would do as much, and smiling sweetly, her gaze finds his, stepping close while still holding onto her drink. ”We should keep going… Is this fine, by the way?”

She means the way she’s holding his hand, as made obvious by how she raises it just so slightly to bring his attention to it.

Grass type pokémon will always have a special place in Ceri’s heart, mostly because many of them bring reminders of days spent tending to gardens and taking care of flowers by her mother’s side. But, the small flower shop they once had is long gone now, and the Tree of Life is much different from the garden her mother once loved so much…

It’s with that thought that a pokéball is gently pressed against the forehead of the Tropius once it finishes feasting on a few leaves, the wild pokémon disappearing in a flash of light.

Luka’s words come as a distraction then, and honestly she’s thankful for that.

”An idea?” As if this were ‘show and tell’, the answer is released from a pokéball, the young woman’s russet eyes widening at the sight of the creature she had only ever seen in reports before. In her gaze glisten wonder and awe. ”Is that a Poipole?”

His reaction to the loud noise makes it all too obvious, since while Ceri herself had been startled too, she quickly regains her composure; taking a deep breath in order to stop her heart from racing.

And yet, she still holds onto his hand, giving it a gentle and light squeeze and offering an equally gentle smile in a gesture of reassurance.

”Hey… It’s fine, I think someone may have just dropped something.”

But, is she actually just trying to reassure him?

There’s a huge difference between a garden and a forest, between flowers raised to be sold at a flower shop and those that grow out of their own free will and choice. Ceri had spent a large portion of her life surrounded by nature, but the woods are not a place she began frequenting until recently...

There are times when being a lab assistant can be really fun, especially for someone who, like Ceri here, is a total nerd despite appearances. It can be cool and awesome and much better than being stuck in classrooms all day listening to long lectures.

But, there are also times when being a lab assistant can suck and not be fun at all…

Getting stuck cleaning equipment after everyone has already left? Not fun.

Dealing with a scary Rocket admin who for some reason suddenly showed up at the lab? Definitely not fun.

And yet, she still gives him one of her usual bright smiles.

”Oh. Nope, she already left.”

To where? Ceri doesn’t know. Why in the world would she know?

In the background, the furnace burns, filling the lab with a warmth fueled by what’s probably a large steel type that’s taking way too long to melt. At least that’s how priam conrad had explained it to her!
