And that’s…exactly what he did. Honestly speaking, it was hard to miss a huge ass, hulking dragon with blaring golden scales, so the moment it entered his line of sight from the sidelines, he’d already brought himself to a stop with his Pokemon nearly slamming into his leg from the suddenness.[break][break]

”Quick change of plans,” he said, his chest still heaving slightly in light of their run. He pointed out towards the dragon type, also taking the capsule of a certain, hat clad creature and tossing it out to join them. ”Y’all see that big boy, over there? We’re taking that big boy home~.”[break][break]

He took another, deeper breath before grinning, prepping a spare Pokeball before nodding towards the beast in the distance.[break][break]

”Have at ‘em— let’s go!”[break][break]

And following that, needless to say, was just…a bullying sequence, honestly. Small as they were, and as confusing as the sight of multiple, smaller creatures sprinting (aggressively wobbling its way over, in the case of one) over was, they all blasted forth with a Power-Up Punch from the Chimchar, which was quickly followed up by a Dazzling Gleam from the Hatenna— one that was only doubled as the Riolu following in tow behind it used Copycat to give the dragon a second dose of the fairy typed move.[break][break]

Xiao tossed the Pokeball out once the last hit landed.[break][break]

They caught up with him, and after taking a moment to crouch down to pat both creatures upon the head with a smile, the trainer hopped back onto his feet before continuing down the path with them in tow. His stride was a brisk one, and between the breaths that escaped his lips had been the occasional, somewhat broken hum in tune to the song that played through his earbuds as he sped along.[break][break]

Before long, he noted a certain…fish? It looked like a fish. Whatever it was, it seemed to be floating along and minding its own business, but oddly enough, it didn’t quite seem to be intent on stopping despite the fact that he and two other Pokemon had been coming down the path towards it.[break][break]

No matter, honestly. Sizable as it was, he really just sped into a sprint for a few moments to gain enough momentum to jump over it without much issue.[break][break]

Time to hit the road in search for the next addition to his party.[break][break]

The pass by that time was a bit more of a quickened one, though, as the man trailed through the pathways at a brisker pace; his breath hitched and constant, yet still huffed at regular, comfortable intervals as he jogged through. While the remainder of his Pokemon had been spared the training regimen for the day, a certain duo of blue and ginger furred creatures trailed behind him.[break][break]

Shifting his heels beneath him, he sought to jog in place while turning around, grinning and watching the two continue to run and keep up.[break][break]

”C’mon, we’re almost there~!” he called out with a short, breathy laugh. ”I already told ya— I’ll get you guys some smoothies once we get to Rustboro! Final stretch~!”

Despite the scolding and fiasco that he caused, the Trapinch seemed awfully content with himself.[break]
Like, imagine being proud of kicking sand into some kid’s face. Damn.[break][break]

It was something that Xiao couldn’t imagine, so he was more or less left at a loss as he watched the ground type amble off without even so much as a damn to give, as far as he was concerned. A sigh left his lips as he took a few more steps forward to collect the new friend he’d acquired, tucking its ball into his bag before shifting his gaze to the side to spy yet another incoming creature.[break][break]

He figured he may as well check another off the list.[break]
He plucked the last Safari Ball off of his person before tossing it at the fluffy little creature.[break][break]

Honestly speaking, he couldn’t even be mad about how aggressive the two decided to be. After all, as he just stared at them immediately hunking down by their little, eggy companion, what else was he supposed to think? Was he supposed to scold them for protecting one of their own?[break][break]

…And it would suck for a certain, pink sucker, too, as it ambled its way into the fray not too long after. Xiao glanced over at the movement from the corner of his eye, blinking before making a quick whistle to catch the three’s attention. He made eye contact with the fighting type among the three, giving him a quick smile and nod towards the incoming Pokemon in wordless gesture, and with a quick glance, the little creature seemed to catch the memo quick enough.[break][break]

Leaving his chimp of a brother to tend to the little one, he dashed over and swung at the fairy type with a hefty Metal Claw, all while a sudden Thunder Wave from a certain Dratini came to join the scene before Xiao, himself, readied and tossed a Pokeball out.[break][break]

…Not that the peace would be enjoyed for long, apparently.[break][break]

Giving a grin at the Togepi’s seeming happiness, he turned his head to watch her as she began to waddle off to join her other friends, though found himself perking up in both concern and shock, alike, as a dual typed creature seemed to emerge from the sidelines, receiving little more than a chirp from her in greeting before apparently taking that as a challenge to Astonish her. Another cry escaped the egg creature as she immediately fell back, which…then turned into actual crying before long.[break][break]

Needless to say, it earned the attention of her other pseudo siblings— namely a certain canine and chimp. They both perked up at the sound of the cries, and before much could be done, rushed over with roused and aggressive calls before each landing a Force Palm and Power-Up Punch on the Cradily.[break][break]

It seemed to be all it took to knock the poor thing out before both Pokemon booked it to check up on their friend.[break][break]

Their trainer sighed seeing all of it go down.[break][break]

The others chatted away with the aforementioned Pokemon, but before long, Xiao noticed a certain, orange head swaying to and fro as the creature attached to it gradually began waddling away from his other friends. Blinking, the man watched as he seemingly set a course back to him, only to pause upon seeing another Pokemon appear on the sideline.[break][break]

A questioning, ”Eh?” in confusion and inquiry left his lips, only to be replaced by something akin to a shocked and concerned yell as the Trapinch whipped around, using a quick Sand Attack on the egg bearer before giving a few cries. He assumed that the dirt got into the pink Pokemon’s face by the way she seemed to rub her eyes before—inevitably—beginning to cry from the discomfort.[break][break]

With a softened, yet still concerned smile, he hummed and clicked his tongue while tossing another Safari Ball out in attempt to give her some form of comfort before gently flicking his own Pokemon’s head softly.[break][break]

”Geez, man… We talked about not greeting new friends like that…”[break][break]

Raising his arms overhead, he locked the tips of his fingers together before pulling them upward with a strained out sigh. His eyes shut instinctively while doing so, though hadn’t taken very long to open once more in order to take in the surroundings. He began rolling his shoulders after lowering his arms once more, glancing off to the side at the few Pokemon he’d taken care to release to do some stretching of their own.[break][break]

”This a better change of scenery, Yin?” he called out, grinning and laughing as the sound of his voice seemed to immediately catch the egg Pokemon’s attention. He crouched down as she hopped to turn him, reaching a hand out to catch her as she scurried over to him quickly. ”Aw, it is, huh? I’m glad ya think so~...”

Ah, man, it looks like the others made a friend.[break][break]

It was something he only caught from the corner of his eye at first, but as he walked over to retrieve the newly caught Pokemon and house its new capsule within a freer part of his bag, he found himself eying his other companions in the distance as they seemed to be occupying themselves with a heart shaped…thing.[break][break]

It took him a little while to recognize the actual Pokemon, but the interaction was cute, either way.[break]

He both screamed and laughed in tandem with the startled creature within his arms as a sudden, spectral being seemingly deemed it fit to appear from the floor beneath them, moments before he would’ve quite literally stepped on its head. The scare in itself seemed to be enough to cause the shuddering little egg to fire off a sudden, fear-strengthened Ancient Power in instinctive reflex, promptly hitting the ghost in its eye and causing it to fully submerge from the ground as it held onto its singular avenue of sight.[break][break]

”Hoooo~! Goddamn, that—... That was a good one…!” he laughed with a simultaneously stressed and amused grin, taking a hissing breath through lightly clenched teeth as he peered towards the ghost before them. The hiss turned into an exasperated sound akin to a raspberry as he blew the breath out through his lips, reaching over towards his collection of vacant Pokeballs and tossing it while the creature was distracted. ”God… Feels like at least a year shaved off my life…”[break][break]
