It wasn't like Vasi didn't know this was a pokemon habitat, as he'd been careful not to disturb any of the ones he saw hanging around or causing any damage to anything. But just as he was hoping to get his bearing, a pokemon had made itself known to him. It came out of the water and locked eyes right on the man, sure he could try to ignore it but honestly, he knew well enough that that pokemon wasn't going away without a fight. Both Water and Dark types were known to be a little aggressive sometimes, especially if they think you're invading their territory and since most people had left this area.

The pokemon likely thought that it owned this area, Vasi got up and stretched a little. He could use a water type pokemon so he figured he'd may as well take this opportunity, he looked at his pokeballs and tried to decide who should take on this battle. Vasi knew that his Flapple and Stunfisk had moves or types to take on this Crawdaunt but he wanted to give his fossil pokemon a chance, to stretch its legs in battle. Sending the Amaura out, Vasi leaned on one knee and gave the pokemon a little pat on the head.

Amaura smiles and whinnies at the attention "Hey girl, let's try and catch this guy right here. You up for it" asks Vasi as he stands up, Amaura looks over at the Crawdaunt and changes it's facial expression from smiling to serious. Nodding its head to the question asked of it, Vasi smirking at the little pokemon's determination. "Start with Thunder Wave" ordered Vasi in hopes of paralyzing the pokemon.

With the status affect occurring, Vasi knew that it was the best time to attack. "Amaura, now use Freeze-Dry" expressed Vasi as he knew that unique Ice move was super effective against Water types, and it hit the pokemon hard but thankfully didn't knock the thing out. With it down on its luck, Vasi threw a pokeball in order to catch the crab like pokemon. Watching as the ball rocks on the ground hoping that the catch will be sucessful, though he doubted it had much strength left.

He hadn't been to Mauvile in sometime, after settling down with his family Vasi did little in the way of traveling. There were times when he had to do so because of his job at the Battle Tent, since Fallabor wasn't the only one in the region. And while he wasn't a champion or even a gym leader, he still did well in the job he had at the tent. Which was to advise those using it and even some of the staff how to go about battles and what was the best way to connect with the pokemon that they sometimes loaned out to participants.

For present though, he was enjoying the quiet of nature that was the Hills area of Mauvile. He had all his gear and poke balls on his belt, though he wasn't really looking for anything but a simple day out in the world. As he used to enjoy hiking a lot when he was younger but never to the point of becoming one of those trainers but he did make the odd friend of them, here and there in his travels. So he knew how to handle himself should the ground shift or things went badly.

He pulled out a snack and started eating it as he went over a small incline, small enough for him not to have trouble going over it but just big enough for him not to know what was on the other side. He doubted that it would be dangerous but anything could happen on a journey, though this would be his second one. And he knew he didn't quite look the part any more but it didn't bother him, with how things were going for Hoenn, they needed all the folks they could muster both old and young.

Vasi had never truly gone to the spot where his wife and kids had died, it had been to painful for him to bare. Step after step, in a place he'd enjoyed taking his kids to and exploring sometimes for simple peace and quiet. After almost two years, Vasi had come to the place that had taken so much from him.

All his efforts of late was to make himself ready and fit for being a trainer once more, maybe even stop those who'd started all this. He wasn't stupid though, he knew it wouldn't be a short journey. So he finally came here, in order to find a little peace of mind and say a few words to the air in the last place his family was.

"Why did you take them, Arceus" he said under his breath as he made his way through the stone passages that made this place, there was of course no answer but it wasn't really meant as a prey and more a curse under his breath. Truthfully, he didn't blame the Creator god nor the environment of Meteor Falls itself. Neither of them were the cause of what happened, this place was special to him well before the loss of his loved ones so he knew his anger had to be directed elsewhere.

But that wasn't his mission today, he was making his way to the collapsed area where his family died, he knew that he couldn't get to the exact spot of their demise. As it had been cut off by both falling debris and simple health and safety messures but he could at least get relatively close. Waking over puddles and stalactites, Vasi made his way to an area that had some fallen debris and he knew to be near where he wanted to be, he sighed for a second and sat on a nearby rock to gain some courage and think about what he wanted to do and say.

Vasi was born and raised in Slateport city where his parents were middle class and did their best to support him, when he turned of age. Vasi made his way to Twinleaf to get his first pokemon, for several years Vasi made his journey around Hoenn collecting badges and even the occasional ribbon. Though he only got so far in contests, Vasi did indeed get all eight badges and even tried to go against the Elite 4. Sadly he didn't do as well as he liked and ended up doing some travel for a time, going to other regions and trying to become stronger and even gaining a few badges here and there. And although he always meant to go back to Hoenn in order to finally finish what he'd started, this all came to a halt when he met a girl named Carrie in his travels.[break][break]

It wasn't long before the trainer and the contest girl started becoming more then traveling companions and truly started dating, all this eventually lead to marriage and their first child. Leaving childhood and becoming adults made Vasi and Carrie realize they needed to find a place to settle down and decided on Fallarbor Town in Vasi's native Hoenn. With Carrie getting a job at the contest hall there and Vasi switching between stay at home father and consultant to the battle tent which was also present, this was their home and the two children they ended up raising there. Though things got strange when crazy washed over the region, Vasi and his family were mostly okay since most things didn't come out their way often. [break][break]

Though he did become enraged at hearing the destruction of his hometown, wanting to almost go over and help out but was talked out of it by his wife. And they remained within their little town until something happened to the nearby cave system, Vasi's kids were just old enough to start their journey and he'd been helping them get ready and even got them both pokemon. While the two of them were out on the town, they were recruited to go digging for stuff in the cave system that they knew so well. Eventually Carrie found out and went after them, as all three were within the deeper parts of the cave. A collapse occurred and killed his whole family along with the pokemon he'd given them for protection, in his grief Vasi destroyed a small station the company behind it had made though he was never caught.[break][break]

It took time for Vasi to heal, even though he knew he never would but Vasi decided to get back into shape and back into pokemon. This took a little time to get back into things and look and feel good enough to go back out into the world, his mission was to look into all this crazy and see what he could do to help prevent such things happening to other people. He still harboured a dislike for the ones that put his family in that cave but for now he was content on simply getting back into the groove of his training days and reappear in the wider world.
