summer is too hot. [break][break]

it makes her sweat, and humidity makes her feel gross. and to make it worse, the bugs would always nip and prick at her skin, and she'd have to suffer by putting on bug spray to get the nasty critters away. the only silver lining is that she can wear her tank top and shorts without a care, and without worry of getting weird looks. [break][break]

she'd wear the same in winter.[break]
people who look at her oddly are just weak. [break][break]

verity has made her home in the iron feathers of her corviknight who idly floats on the water. he's big enough to be her ferry, anyhow, while a little wishiwashi makes circles on the water's surface. it's only when she hears the yipping of a popplio does she bother to lazily glance down into the water, watching the shifting images of pink beneath, and some... white? ghastly.. kind of white? [break][break]

... was it white? or was she just seeing things? for all she knows, they could be algae, or they could be some other kind of pokemon, or just regular coral, or-- [break][break]

"... I think they're corsola." she finally says, just a little bit after the woman's initial question. ruby red eyes squint, however. [break][break]

"but what's that white stuff..?"

WHY DO I TRY SO HARD TO LIVE - ONLY TO LIVE IN FEAR?

A story of a girl who reformed from delinquency.

She doesn't want a lot from life; she doesn't have much of a direction. The only thing that keeps her waking each morning is the mantra to be "a good person". She doesn't know exactly what it means, yet, but she'll aimlessly grasp at straws until she finds a reason worth fighting for.

he's quite moody. [break][break]

then again, he always is. though brash as he is, and as irritable as he is, it's still nice to have someone with his head on his shoulders - at least, one of them will have their head on tight enough while she has her thoughts in the clouds. "okay." she says, with a slight smile that time around, shifting her weight between her legs. [break][break]

her hands raise up, ready once again to swing and jab at the pads he's lifted eye level. her feet are planted into the ground when she takes a breath and bounces in place, each bounce in face of her punches' recoil. she's always been a strong one - always had a little more trouble than others controlling her strength. she's always thought it was a bad thing. [break][break]

but he doesn't think so. [break][break]

and it's enough encouragement for her to be less restrained when she grips on the cloth around her fists - if only to keep the skin of her knuckles from getting worn from the strikes. occasionally she'll glance between the pads out of concern, wondering if her strength was getting to be a bit too much - followed by another, carefully placed jab. [break][break]

a few jabs and a few huffs later, she gives a ruby glare towards the targets. no, she hasn't forgotten what he's said to and about her before. "i can't have gotten that rusty, though." the woman squints, one jab coming out stronger than the last. [break][break]

"i swear that you've just gotten stronger.." she'll sulk again, with another powerful strike at her pouting words.

Verity is a little slow. [break][break]

A little absentminded, a bit of an airhead. It's a miracle how he can keep the patience with her, when he has virtually little to none. verity doesn't realize she's making him repeat himself until he brings it up, and it rouses her from the clouds she'll leisurely float on. It only takes her a little bit for the words to register this time, though it's for his sake - so she doesn't keep him waiting again, or make him more frustrated. [break][break]

After all, he's her personal trainer, not relationship counsellor. She already has one, in the form of a poor woman who has to bear witness to all those mistakes. [break][break]

Instead now, she wears a soft smile on her lips as she gets up, arms stretched above her head before reaching to tug at the white locks, bunched up at her scalp. Her hair is still being held together, night and tight, thank god. [break][break]

"time that i can be using to get stronger, right?" she's already rearing to go, making little hops and step~~pies~~ in place "so.. what are we doing next?"

He's.. forward as ever. So quick to call them weak, so quick to call them pricks (he's right, but she has a bit more tact than to immediately say it). Still, it's a little amusing, even if the cost is his annoyance and irritation. [break][break]

"Maybe." though she says, with a slight smile "you have a point." and there's no point in dwelling on it, not when she already has enough on her plate. Still, it's a little funny, seeing how he's starting to get more annoyed than her. If you spoke to her a couple years back, maybe she would have been just as annoyed. Maybe she would have been as outspoken, or she would have clobbered someone when she was just as violent. [break][break]

she isn't anymore, though. [break][break]

".. so he should be fine with me being able to bench press him?" she tilts her head, slightly. though if she's going to be honest, she'd prefer to be the one being bench pressed.

Weird, isn't it? [break][break]

Maybe to him, who sees the strength as a good thing. Unfortunately, Verity's too familiar with the golden "double standard", so she makes a little shrug with her lips in response to his scoff. The man is as judgmental as always and, if she weren't already accustomed to it, she would have actually started to feel bad for being worried. [break][break]

"Mhm." she hums, nodding her head. Her fingers tighten a bit around the bottle, before she unscrews it, ready to take another swing. "I told him to just.. work out and get stronger if he doesn't like it." water follows her words, and the chill is met with a hum, then a sigh when she lowers the bottle. "He looked at me funny. I wonder if I shouldn't have said that." [break][break]

With another hum, she puts the bottle to her side on the bench. Her knees are gently pressed together, and her elbows rest against the joints. "There was another guy who wanted to arm wrestle" she starts, eyes gazing up in the air as she recalls "... then he stopped calling me after I beat him."[break][break]

it's slight, but a pout comes to her face as she narrows her eyes. "... do guys really hate strong women..?"

Was she really that out of practice? [break][break]

Disappointment doesn't begin to describe it when she idly glares at her hand with a ruby sharp gaze. When she tries to tighten the fingers into a fist, a brow raises and the other furrows. It definitely looks like she's been getting weaker, even if she feels like there hasn't been much change. Verity is a little too caught up in her own thoughts to fully register the man's words, and when she realizes that she's doing it again, she immediately perks up. [break][break]

She's silent, for a little while. What should she say? That she hasn't been doing martial arts more lately? He'll end up asking why that's the case, and she'll probably end up thinking some more - not like she wasn't already, and she wasn't already wasting his time. Thinking about it, nothing much has changed, recently? [break][break]

"... Oh." She finally speaks, after her gaze fell to the ground in her thought. Red eyes raise to meet hues of amber, and she still speaks, unfazed by a man's impatience. "I went on a date, the other week." still, she speaks in a slightly flat tone "He said I was too strong, so.. I think I got self conscious." [break][break]

The sound of fist on pad fills the room, and Verity is aggressive as ever - though she'll admit that she could start hitting harder. It's difficult finding a good physical trainer nowadays, especially when most would tell her that she doesn't need one. It's why she's become so picky with who she trains with, after.. many complaints about bruising, and regarding her inability to hold back. [break][break]

It's why she's only a little bit disappointed when she's being yelled at to hit harder, or to move faster. Of course, you can't see it on that ever-changing expression on her face. Truly, the face of neutrality - maybe that's why she can take his impatience so well. It's why she doesn't take any offense when he comments about her rust - she knows plenty well that she's out of touch. Though she still goes on jogs, and still runs track and still does little obstacle courses, and exercises to keep herself fit, she's starting to slip, surely. [break][break]

Maybe the approaching summer heat is starting to make her lazy. [break][break]

She takes a moment after he lowers his hand, and waves. The words don't actually register until he begins to walk, and the albino woman perks up, slightly, and nods her head begore scurrying, hurriedly. "Ah.. right, okay." [break][break]

She's quick to drop onto the bench, pulling her water bottle out and take a much needed drink. when the water's down, and takes the metal to rest against her neck, cooling down the sweat that drips from her bangs. "... Sorry." blood red eyes shift to the side, her lips curled into the slightest frown. Her fingers open and close, forming a fist as she pensively stares. [break][break]

"... Maybe I haven't been exercising enough."
