He knew that using Psycho Cut would be all buy folly because it was a Psychic-type attack—and he knew that using that on a Dark-type was not going to work at all.

So his Absol continued to prowl around the other, waiting for an opening before trying to catch the other Dark-type off-guard with yet another Sucker Punch!

I should really get another attack asides from those… yeah, this is definitely messed up… he thought to himself as he continued taking mental notes on which moves to change when he got the chance to.

The next attack that came in before the Absol would swerve, a sudden surprise attack that would—whoa.

“Okay, unless I’m wrong, a Beedrill shouldn’t know that move,” he mused as the Absol hissed on her hackles, snarling for a few moments as she quickly attempted to Detect a way around the incoming attack.

Was he wrong, though—he knew that Dragon Hammer was native to the funny-looking, sentient coconut trees that called the Alola region home.

At least this time around it wasn’t the sudden explosion of light with the one-hit move… but this was also something he was familiar with (though he had yet to try it himself with his Absol).

Cordy was still being a hissy bitch when the attack smacked her upside the head; before suddenly retaliating with a sneaky Sucker Punch—well, that was the nature of the attack, right?

“At least you know how it is when an Absol goes all bitchy!” he called from his side of the field, resisting the urge to smack his palms to his face and drag them down… unless Cordy got her shit together than she was going to get a fucking beating!

Now that the Froakie had taken the fight to them; it was easy to go on defense sometimes—although with the possibility of dodging every single little thing, though? That was not going to be fun.

The moment he spotted the black Tauros, though, he had to do a double-take. Wait, he hadn’t seen that before!

“Call me Jack, and—whoa, can I ask you where you got your Tau—” he tried to call out to his opponent before the bell dinged, signifying that it was time to throw down!

The Absol on his side of the field would size up her opponent with a careful eye, before going for their standard, go-to Swords Dance routine; getting ready for what was to come.

Sometimes, it was difficult to be the one to start the battles, but there you go. Calculated risk and rewards it was, then!

He was not expecting to hear the words ‘rubber match showdown’ over the speakers—at least until he looked up and realized just why that was going to happen.

“Oh, boy,” he sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose before his own Absol uncharacteristically began to snarl at the sight of another fellow Absol—this was going to get ugly, he could tell.

“Cordy!” he yelled once he’d managed to calm himself down. “Don’t be such a bitch!”

To his opponent, he added, “Sorry about that! She can be a bit of a bitch queen at times. Good luck!”

And right off the bat—holy shit, whoa, was she taking the fight straight to her opponent now?

With a sudden Night Slash attack coming out of nowhere?!

He sighed, because all he could do now was rush to get his Absol treated, before heading over to the next arena so that his next match could begin.

Who was he going up against, he wondered?

All too soon the bell goes off signifying the start of the match, and the Beedrill that comes rushing in from the opposite side of the field has forced them to go immediately on the defensive—sometimes jumping the gun provided an advantage for the aggressor, after all!

“Cordy! You know what to do!” he cheered his Pokémon on, mentally crossing his fingers as she moved to hopefully break the split-second barrier and retaliate with a Night Slash on the Beedrill because wow, how fast was that?!

Definitely faster than any of his Pokémon, that’s for sure!

The Absol whipped her head around; before howling at the Mismagius in challenge to the Fire-type attach that was headed their way. This was definitely going to be their last attack for this match—

As the Dark-type came swinging in with a Sucker Punch attempt!

What was happening—he had things under control earlier, but now, but now—

“Cordy! Snap out of it!” he continued from his side of the arena, because holy hellballs what was wrong? Had she lost control from earlier?

Now it looked like they were on their last legs again… this could definitely be the last blow the two Pokémon opponents would trade between each other…

“Time to fly.”

After he’d thrown the strange orb (and watched the subsequent light show which resulted in the funny balloons appearing once again) he mentally crossed his fingers and hoped for the best as the Absol charged forward again; determined not to lose in front of him with a surprise Night Slash attack on the Mismagius.

Couldn’t let their opponent get ahead of themselves, right?
