saskia is already thinking about how she's got to introduce this girl to sven korolev. they can all be peas in a pod together and she seems just super sweet, which is the most important thing when looking for a friend. and 'sides, she made a promise to herself that she was gonna help sven get out there more!

"i've never been to kalos! that's where your accent is from, huh? it's cute. where in kalos are you from? did you have a beach there too?"

saskia hears a whistle and looks over her shoulder. there are plenty of volunteers combing the beach now and some of the groups that got here the earliest are getting relieved of their duties, which includes her. her supervisor gives her a thumbs up from near the shoreline and sasky gives one back. 

"and just like that, i'm o - oh! do you need some sunscreen? i have some in my bag. c'mon, i set my stuff up just this way."

uh oh. he's putting the knife down. being done with the vegetables certainly has nothing to do with it or anything. still, it was a heck of a lot easier to be a little sarcastic with him when his eyes were elsewhere. 

she boosts herself up on the counter and gently bops her heels against the lower cupboards. her brows raise. wait, what? if he thinks it's only...then...

"well, why do you think i need to take it down?"

it being hot as all hell will never stop her family from making soup, but sasky's lips curl just thinking about drinking hot liquids right now. after a cold shower, it'll certainly be more appetizing, but right now she's in a foul mood and is already so, so nervous, but maybe papa forgot and - 

"did you delete yours?" she fires back with a huff and then remembers herself. 

she skirts around him, tapping his back to let him know she's there while he's wielding a knife, and splashes some cool water on her face. then she plucks a towel from where it hangs off their oven and runs that under the water too so she can rest it on the back of her neck. 

"your profile sucks, by the way. you have so many nicer pictures of you! but i bet you ten bucks you forgot to turn it on to 'seeking friends only' and mama's gonna be maaaaaad." she leans back against the counter while she talks, smiling thinly up at him.

a wayward attempt to take the spotlight off of herself and lighten the mood.

it's been a long day. patrolling around the silent icelands and getting samples is never easy. darting between hoenn's humid climate and onto the ice and back again always puts a weird strain on her body. so she's not in the best mood as she trudges up the path back home. 

but her stooped posture straightens and some of those worries fall off her shoulder when sven bursts out of her front door. no doubt kolya and cami are pleased sasky is home; sven's family, but he can certainly be a lot. 

she slides her pack off and tosses it through the front door, saying, "hi mama, hi papa, i'm home and sven and i are gonna hang out on the back porch thank you love you."

she hops back down the front steps and beckons for sven to follow her around the side of the house. kirin clops behind them, nickering gently, and saskia pulls out her phone. 

"that'll be perfect though! you said it was flamigo? how many people have you met so far? and spitroasting? maybe it's some camping thing."

"yeah! that's why i said they're like princes." she gives them both more very affectionate pets. "but oh my gosh, no, it's not weird. it's super duper cute. cuter than oleg even."

the oleg in question does not agree with this, but he can't do much about it, as he's currently flailing about in the sand after another poor attempt at walking like a dog on all fours. saskia giggles and rights him again. 

"MARI! that's a cute name too. okay, that's it. we're all just cute here."

she chuckles. "no, no. i live in oldale so i'm usually stationed there. they just needed some extra help with these little guys. i almost forgot my swimsuit, actually. up until the past few months, i've been in snowpoint, so let me tell you - the hoenn heat is killing me."

oleg finds part of a dead krabby's claw and starts jamming it in the sand. saskia looks on fondly. 

"we're almost finished up here though! you wanna stick around and then maybe we can go swimming together?"
