The lights continued to flicker, and while he wasn’t afraid of the dark…

“Loki, you better fucking swear th-this isn’t a trap…” he trailed off as he gathered his courage, before taking a deep breath and following the waiting Sableye into the gloom.

It would be an adjustment for him to see in the dark, because let’s face it… his memories from the time he was almost kidnapped and killed by a fucking Litwick back home were starting to peek out from the darkest depths…

“Well, where is h-he?” he breathed out once his eyes had finally adjusted to the gloom… but then, he thought he heard a loud noise.

“Wh—what was th-that?”

“Oh wow, do they really know what they’re getting into?” he asked his partner with a hint of worry, considering that they’d snuck away from the office to go check shit out on their own.

He then momentarily turned his attention to the television, and shook his fist.

“You butts better be careful, you don’t know what the fuck you’re all getting yourselves into!” he warned them before returning his attention to his human pillow and feeding him a little popcorn.

“Yes, please,” he begged quietly, his gaze never leaving his partner’s eyes.

“…and they’re not fucking cheap, are you sure you can cover the price tag? I told you I can cover yours!” he added, a tiny little pout on his face.

Thing is, he didn’t budge to let the Braviary speak with the Banette.

“That’s what he said! He’s not going to attack her, not like Gabriel!” he added while pinching the bridge of his nose.

“You have! Earlier, just earlier!” he insisted as he emerged from the walk-in closet with more clothes in his hold before dumping them on the bed—they were all either red and/or white and gold.

“You said I look good in clothes, are you kidding me? I’m a basic-ass bitch!” he continued as he began to go through the choices on the bed before he felt his ears suddenly burn up and shrivel at the mention of looking good in nothing.

“F-frog,” he breathed as he looked up in the middle of contemplating the red leather. “D-don’t tell me you’re getting hard r-right now?”

The journey continued in such silence that it was almost deafening—at least he remembered that there was trouble coming, and fast… the thing is how was he going to…

Little did he know he would hear very quiet clip-clopping coming from the ground—looking around wildly, he realized that… whoa, they were small! And… for some reason they looked cute!

“Hey, hey, whoa, I’m not here to—” he began, holding his hands up in the ‘please don’t hit me’ pose, however…

“They ain’t here to fuck around!” the not-Carina exclaimed as the angry, angry (but extremely cute-looking) Joltik threw themselves up and off the little Swinub mount, crackling with energy as the small body was wreathed in an Electro Ball attack!

“Whoa! What the hell! Why, you nasty little…” the foul-mouthed Ribombee growled before releasing a brilliant burst of fae energy in the form of a Dazzling Gleam.

All he could do was watch in quiet shock as the first, angry, angery Joltik (the one that was holding an equally-tiny spear) took the charge to the Ribombee, and the two attacks exploded against each other in a flash-bang of light.

Yeesh, there go my eyeballs for a few weeks, he thought as he had to blink several times to clear out the scorching light that burned into his retinas.

Unfortunately, the angry Joltik’s Swarm ability activated, before it lashed back out with a deafening Bug Buzz attack…

“You did fucking not just do that!” the Robimbee growled, quickly threading up the purple Pollen Puffs and started throwing them at the angry Joltik.

Thankfully, the angry one got a faceful of said Puff, before shrieking and falling down the ground where the equally tiny mount picked them up and ran off… the second Joltik was too nervous to say anything before the Ribombee turned their attention on them.

“What, you wanna piece of me?!” they challenged; which was more than enough to scare the second one away, really!

“Don’t tell me they—” he trailed off, bread stick halfway to his mouth when the worst scenarios flashed in his mind’s eyes.

“They did not do what I think they did, did they?” he continued in the same low voice as he looked around furtively. One could never be too careful these days, because the walls have ears and all that.

It didn’t take long until…

“…wait, why did you leave? Is this because of those uh… succession lines? Something like that?” he ventured quietly, wondering what the reason was.

Unless, of course, it had something to do with Team Rocket again…

He blinked a little bit, before handing the box to the other. Said box had a clear top with plastic, so the Natu macarons literally surrounded the lone Pidove one staring up from the smack-middle of the entire assembly inside the container.

“I made these for you. I remember your tiny terror tot of a Pidove,” he chuckled as the bird-designed macarons stared up from inside the box.

“That’s why they’re the centerpiece, after all,” he added with a grin.

He had to get it down and done with before his bravado deserted him again, and while he saw his partner’s eyes looking at him in question; he had to take a deep breath to calm himself down.

“What is it?” Memo urged him gently, and he sighed.

“Y-you know how you’re so verbal about your affection and I’m the opposite?”

“Yeah. It’s a given, knowing you.”

“I… you know I care about you as much as you care about me, I just… can’t properly vocalize my feelings,” he continued; feeling the bile in the back of his throat again (yikes) as nerves threatened to get the better of him.

“I know you do, because that’s what makes you, you.”

Blinking a few times just to will himself not to throw the fuck up because the gastric acid burn was starting to overwhelm him, he soldiered on. Never mind if he couldn’t get down on one knee because…

“I…”

Rather than speaking, he just pulled out the tiny little black velvet box and already had it hidden in his other hand before showing him the little box and popping it open.

“S-sorry I’m not so g-good at words, I j-just—” he trailed off before he got all the wind knocked out of him in a full-force shortstack body tackle.

“Wha!” he exclaimed as the other literally hung onto him like a leech, not letting go.

“You idiot, you already know what my answer is!”
