What was up with all the Ultra Beasts just appearing out of nowhere?! Yeesh!

Switching tactics, the Tornadus then roared, before releasing a powerful column of Hurricane-force winds at the incoming attack—no way was he going to approach those damned things!

The Kleavor and Garchomp suddenly switched from digging as one of them came in cleaving with a Stone Axe while the other came charging forward with a Dragon Claw to herd the tentacle hentai monsters altogether.

“Be careful, you two!” he shouted as his own Pokémon joined the fray.

“Knowing you, I’m sure you wouldn’t,” he continued with this knowing smirk on her face.

He caught sight of the two she’d sent forward… they looked similar to Salamence, but not quite so—he couldn’t help but wonder why they bared a resemblance to the Pokémon that she favored so much.

“They remind me of my… I have something that looks like a Hydreigon but not quite so. It looks more like a robotic version of a Hydreigon more than anything,” he hummed quietly as he returned back to his own digging.

It didn’t take too long for the sounds of battle to reach him, though.

He then realized that maybe putting off getting a Synga Suit was maybe going to be a bad idea in the long run, considering how he’d made a promise to a certain someone that they were going to get theirs together and everything.

He idly thought about the potential of infinity energy potentially trapped in these minerals they were mining…

“Shit,” was all he would say next as he then dropped a Moon Ball and summoned his own Salamence, who immediately joined the fray to attack…

Oh, come on!

He realized that the familiar ‘face’ was back…



“You again?!” he exclaimed with a sigh as the three-headed Salamence abomination appeared, two of its heads gnashing their fangs while the third lolled alongside uselessly.

While his Kleavor and Garchomp were digging, he then noticed that the world was… oh, come on!

“Not these things again!” he exclaimed as he flicked the Cherish Ball forward and unashamedly summoned the Tornadus once more; he realized that he was banking on the legendary Pokémon maybe a little too much lately…

“Get out of the way, Josh! MOVE!” he yelled a few moments afterward as the Wandering Stormbringer then set forth and brought down a bone-chilling, mind-numbing Bleakwind Storm that brought the temperature down in the immediate surrounding area by several degrees.

With the Cherish Ball in hand, he knew that shit was going to hit the fan, but he wasn’t expecting the fan to get hit so fucking soon!

“Move!” he yelled as he then threw the Cherish Ball forward, watching as the Wandering Stormbringer himself unfurled from the burst of red light.

“Help them!” he yelped as he then dropped a Moon Ball afterward, watching as his Fighting/Steel-type Lucario, Vincent, emerge from that red beam of light as well.

“Provide covering fire!” he followed up as the Lucario concentrated before releasing a Sphere of Auric energy; while the Tornadus brought down a powerful Dragon Hammer attack.

While his Kleavor, Lycanroc and Garchomp were busy hacking away at a particularly large-sized mineral deposit, he idly wondered—why did the rocks shimmer and shine like crystalblooms?

That was strange in and on itself.

“Well, if you want to unwind afterward, we can go somewhere to grab a bite to eat… or something stronger, if you drink,” he offered.

His brows furrowed slightly at what she’d mentioned about getting involved—much tempted as he was to dissuade her from getting in neck deep, he decided not to.

Well, at least not yet anyway.

“I’m here for pretty much the same, to bring back whatever the higher-ups can plausibly use from what we can get down here. Pretty sure that they can make something out of this,” he mentioned as his Garchomp came over and handed him one palm-sized shard that glittered strangely in his hand.

It was like this damned thing was going to be eternally chasing him, no matter where he went…

He felt a chill run down his spine the moment he saw the one that his friend was currently fighting, because holy shit what was up with this place, how could it produce extremely potent apparitions that bellowed and screamed in distorted voices…

“What the fuck is that?!” he exclaimed at the sight of the body of the Dragonite but it had the stubby arms of a… holy fucking shit what was this abomination?!

He’d gotten so swept up in what she was fighting, he almost very nearly missed the familiar sight of the three-headed Salamence perched on the body of a Dodrio…



“RUN!” he yelled as he dropped his Gardevoir, who then burst forth with a Moonblast spread across the entire space; trying to hit her abomination and his own ‘visitor’.

reconciliation?
There and back again…

Or was it, there and back home?

He hadn’t… he hadn’t been home in. Literal years. A decade and some change if his reckoning was right.

Why had he come back now? After all this time?

Oh, right… it was because his sisters asked him to. He honestly had no idea if their parents were even going to look at him, considering all he’d done in Hoenn.

Specifically, it was Addy who asked (more like wheedled) him to come along for the trip, because it would be the first time in a long time the entire family would be all together once again.

He wondered if Thea would be coming with another husband, though, considering how long it had been since … that was way too long. Way too much time had passed. All three of them had flown the nest and found their place in the world; no matter how far apart they were.

(He was actually thankful that Thea had been alright, considering the shenanigans that happened in Galar and that she’d somehow managed to get out of it unscathed.)

He idly wondered if he’d been disowned, considering that he was the only male and the only one to carry the family name… disowned because he was gay, or disowned because he’d been written off as a lost cause, a child dead to the world—

No, no, he would calm himself down, and give his younger sister a sheepish smile when he saw her looking his way.

He could do this…

“Is that… is that why you were acting so evasive before we broke up?”

He couldn’t keep the emotion out of his voice; however at the same time the outright admission that him, he had joined Team Rocket without so much as a flippant attitude as to why—

That really set him on edge.

“Of course I’ve heard of your husband,” he continued quietly; his hands in his pockets. Ready in case the other threw something out. “I’ve seen the reports. He’s packing some kind of… warped, twisted guardian Pokémon as their patron.”

(In another life, another universe, another reality if you’d prefer, someone that had a striking resemblance to Alex had once chased after Lugia. Not that he’d know what it was called, then.)

The silence that spread between them was absolute, before he found the next words to say.

“If. If that was what bothered you… why didn’t. Why didn’t you tell me, back then? We. We could’ve worked together to fix it!”

He was hoping that the game was just, well, that. A game.

Unfortunately, though, the next words the other man says in front of him…

Make him stop and stare. A quiet little stare, at first. And then, the crescendo.

“You…”

The disbelief is clear on his face for a few moments. The silence becomes awkward as it stretches out between them.

“Why didn’t you tell me you did that, N—Temp? What did you get…?” he continued, unable to hide the emotion in his voice. “Did you find…”

The next words didn’t come out, because the sight of the ring confirmed his suspicion.

“…when?”

The disbelief is still clear on his face, but for some reason there was another tinge of emotion in it—

One that screamed of betrayal.

“And what did Tulio say about this, does he know that you joined up… joined up with them? Joined them—for what end? I thought you wanted to preserve your culture! Not destroy it!”

The simmering anger is there. Stoked, but not yet bubbling.

At least this time he knew better than to mess with his companion, considering the set of her jaw looked like she was ready to cut a bitch when backed into the corner.

“You think… you think the higher-ups are going to get anything good out of what we bring back to them?” he asked her quietly as he idly eyed his Kleavor and Garchomp already hacking away at an ore deposit.

His Lycanroc was by his feet, taking a rest from digging too much.

He had his full entourage with him today; Kleavor, midday Lycanroc, and Garchomp—who were already digging alongside her Pokémon.

(While he was a lover of Unovan Pokémon, why in the ten circles of hell did something like Seismitoad exist? Did… did whatever cosmic deity who’d made the Pokémon universe suddenly get bored when designing the Tympole line and gave Seismitoad the shortest end of the stick?!)

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he growled as he looked in the direction the strange… chimera Pokémon barked at. Boy they were coming.

“Not today, though.”

For he was already holding a Cherish Ball in hand, ready to drop the thing and just. Go to town and wreck shop. (Or something like that.)

His usual suspects were on the roll already; a Kleavor and a Garchomp joining the pride of Pyroar that were already disturbing the ground with their large paws.

“…I think you have a better chance of standing it than me, you have the fancy suit,” he remarked as he couldn’t help but laugh a little at the reminiscent design the other one had chosen.

Of course he would choose that. Nothing else. Master of Faster, indeed.

His Lycanroc was resting today; clearly the canid Pokémon was almost driven to insanity considering all the shit he’d seen the last few times they were down here.

Was it just him or were the Kleavor and Garchomp… literally… inhuman when it came to seeing strange things around here?
