“You know how it goes with moody Pokémon… have to wait it out and not force them,” he hummed sagely.

Although he wondered—didn’t that companion of hers looks oddly similar to what his friend had… only slightly… his head was starting to hurt thinking of the danged thing.

The good thing was that upon their arrival at the Ferris wheel, the cab was rather spacious; with enough room for a Pokémon companion or two. He didn’t mind the things going slow, either, considering that there were a lot of cabs to fill too.

Once they were at the very peak of the entire ride, the view when he peered out from the side was nothing but greenery; dotted with the multicolored flags denoting the carnival’s current location.

“Ah, the roller coaster? Been meaning to go there but the line is always long,” he continued with a sigh.

Ahh, he could relax like this while they were up here…

“What’s your cousin’s name, and where are they assigned? If they’re around here, most likely they’re one of the newer arrivals waiting for their training or something to start up,” he mused.

It was time to call a friend—in this case, a partner—he’d made a mental note to contact the Frog later and ask if there were any new arrivals or Ranger transferees to Fortree.

As the merry-go-round began to pick up in speed, it was certainly a miracle that he wasn’t getting dizzy or turning green. Maybe he was just really used to it.

“Well, there are days when there’s nothing but challengers dropping by left and right and wanting to have a go at the badge,” he chuckled. “Sometimes I don’t realize I’m booked through the evenings until I give the schedule a second look!”

As for Ranger-related things? Well…

“I actually drop by the Ranger outpost here with boxes of macarons from time to time. I bake on the side, when I’m not too busy taking challengers. And I have all the local Fortree Rangers taste the sweet treats I make.”

It wouldn’t take too long for the two of them to meet in mortal kombat in the arena, tires ‘screeching’ and the ‘smell of gasoline’ stinking up the place.

Of course he had a very wild imagination, so he imagined this to be a lot more high-stakes than it really was.

That was, until someone decided to interrupt them and make a run for it.

“But of course!” he continued with that knowing smirk on his face, having caught the color of the bumper car that had interrupted them in the middle of their ‘legendary showdown’.

“Is that them?” he asked, tilting his head some distance ahead in a particular direction—one of the other bumper cars was behaving very suspiciously (more like trying to evade them) and wanted to put as much distance between them as possible.

Here he was, hoping that he wouldn’t have to fight the… strange one that kept appearing whenever he kept turning up down here.

(You know… the one that had three Salamence heads, its wings but was crammed on the body of what he knew was a Dodrio. Two angry and one absolutely derpy head.)

…unfortunately, however, the thing that showed up looked like something taken straight out of the original Alto Marean version of the Paradiso…

“WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!” he exclaimed, never mind if he’d just cussed in front of… meh, he was sure the other had an equally-strong ascertaining of whatever the fuck shit was that.

Loathe as he was to distract the diggers, and even more loathe he was to reveal… too late, too fucking late he’d thrown the Cherish Ball forward and out emerged the Tornadus, screeching all manner of anger and immediately throwing himself forward in a Dragon Hammer motion.

The better to expunge the… many-eyeballed thing as fast as possible.

Hella yikes.

Sadly, the strange figment disappeared and he was now left staring at what looked like a wall of… multiple eyeballs. Like they were in some kind of horror house gone all wrong.

“You don’t need to tell me twice,” he mumbled as he quickly recalled all but the Tornadus, who was to lead their way out of this cursed place.

“Yeah, I don’t mind leaving behind some of what we found. I mean… we can come back for it down the road… right?”

The closer his boyfriend partner’s birthday got, the more he was stressing over what to give him.

Sure, he already had a bit of it planned out, but he was already panicking because the rest of the merchandise he’d ordered still hadn’t arrived yet—why were there fucking delays with shipping again?!

He could only pinch the bridge of his nose; hoping that the package he’d ordered would arrive before the weekend.

While he was dealing with the… strange Dodrio-like thing, he very nearly missed what his companion had done—

“Are you fucking crazy?!” he screamed so high only Crobat could hear him at this point. With a slight head tilt, the Wandering Stormbringer himself whipped up a Bleakwind Storm, followed by his Gyarados’s Ice Beam to put the thing on cold ice for now.

(Because anything Beedrill was stupid fast if left alone long enough.)

The Gyarados then roared before trying to pick him up, however he shook his head and pointed over to where Shalin had been thrown.

“Go grab her and follow us once you have her!” he shouted, as the Tornadus lead the way back out—there was no way in hell they were going to stay down here for much longer.

(Even if it meant leaving some of their load behind, blergh.)

“Maybe in a few decades time, we can have aerial bumper cars… for now, though, yeah. Two feet and ass on the ground, because honestly can’t technology just hurry the fuck up and give us flying cars already?!” he added on with the exact same shit-eating grin on his face.

All too soon they were at the bumper cars attraction, and he quickly looked for the purple-colored car (because he knew there was only one of those) and immediately strapped himself in before looking over the general assortment of all the other cars that were waiting to go.

He then found Isaac’s, and made sure to lock onto that one particular car before the bumper cars roared to life and they were all crashing against each other with their ‘cars’!

The good thing was, Vincent was an excellent babysitter (having dealt with a rambunctious herd of ovines previously, so nothing fazed him so much) and so he could mind the Hoothoot and the Riolu for a while longer.

“Your Pokémon are in good hands,” he continued, nodding in the Lucario’s direction. Sure beat being stuck within a Pokéball all day anyway.

He then looked over her way, making sure that nothing was amiss.

“You sure you don’t need one of those anti-vertigo medicines? I have some with me,” he offered just in case.

Their next target was the pendulum rides; and thankfully there wasn’t too much of a line there either.

“Let’s go there next, only you catch your breath first and take a pill in case you need it.”

“Ow, oof, I’ve been stung,” he joked back when he got ‘hit’ with the soft, fluffy white ‘stingers’ of the plush Beedrill he’d handed to her.

(Besides, there was this gigantic Salamence plushie waiting for him at home, so…)

The good thing was, he didn’t have any Pokémon companions out, however he did notice the sharp claws being flashed his way.

“Geez, just like a canine. Doesn’t like getting wet…” he sighed, before a frown crossed his face. Okay, so no water… what could they do that didn’t involve the ‘princess’ canine getting wet?

“Oh, I know. What about the ferris wheel?” he suggested next as he pointed in the distance. Surely that wasn’t too death-defying?
