Good grief, what was it with him and finding Pokéballs?

He already had so many of these, what was he going to do with them?!

He frowned.

He didn’t want to risk losing the lone remaining Wingull floatie because it was the last one he had—if he lost the other one then he was regally fucking screwed.

(And Frog would be upset.)

Sighing, he pinched the bridge of his nose as he took to the water for today’s dive.

He knew, that always, Remiel would show up in nothing but the best, most formal and accepted attire ‘befitting one of his station’. But they weren’t here today to talk about any princely duties, oh no no no.

Fact of the matter was that his eyebrows had already gone up the moment he saw what his friend was wearing—clearly there was something amiss. Him, in casual wear? Looking all wrinkled and crumpled and borderline—

Okay there was something definitely wrong. As to what exactly he had no idea but he would eventually find out.

“Where’s Earl Grey?” he began, his eyebrows still in their surprised position; having to fight down a sudden shiver of the ‘heebie jeebies’ attacking him at the most inopportune time.

(Why was this particular Pokémon line a Ghost-type?!)

“Also, you look absolutely exhausted. What’s been keeping you up lately?”

For he was afraid there was something wrong in the other’s routine.

What… why was the odd, prickly feeling that had been bothering him since their arrival… it never left? It was like…

“What’re you lookin’ at?!” the not-Carina ‘Ribombee’ huffed at him, and he quickly held up his hands in the classic ‘don’t hit me’ pose.

“I just. I can’t shake off the feeling that there’s like… multiple pairs of eyes watching me. It feels… creepy-crawly,” he replied quietly.

“Like… floating eyeballs in mid-air kind of creepy. The kind that makes my skin crawl the longer I think about it.”

“Huh. I’onno ‘bout you. You’re weird.”

“…you’re definitely not like Carina,” he muttered—only this time to himself.

Just… where did the other voice come from, anyway? It was like trying to find a needle in a gigantic haystack as he looked around the never-ending field of green.

(As long as it wasn’t those things he’d been finding for five days in a row underwater or Pokéballs, he would gladly take anything at this point.)

“Ugh,” he groaned, finally forced to accept that the other Wingull floatie was permanently lost. From the looks of things he only had one floatie remaining, so…

Sighing, he then slipped into the murky waters against his better judgement, hoping he’d find something shiny so he could get out of there and back on dry land as quickly as possible!

It didn’t take too long for him to also hear the strange, moo’ing noise. Wait, moo’ing noise?! Weren’t Miltank the only ones who could—

He wished he didn’t look over at the monstrosity that Miss Johanna was dealing with. Holy shit, where did he put the eye bleach?!

His peace wouldn’t last for too long either, because there was a sibilant roaring noise approaching—and rather than running away screaming, the thing that came approaching him was…

“Of all the things—” he croaked, barely concealing the bubble of laughter that threatened to break out of him.

“What the fuck is that?!”

A few moments later the ‘wind wall’ came collapsing down as the Tornadus charged forward with a Dragon Hammer and smacked himself upon the… the abomination that sent it flying; which in turn shook the entire cavern where they were digging upon impact.

“Oh my god, you actually already have a name picked out for it, too?”

Truly, the depths people would go to for their favorites. He was too afraid to call the Tornadus he owned by any name other than its title (which those from northern Unova would be familiar with, himself one of those people) out of respect borderline reverence.

Once the merry-go-round came to a slow and then a stop, he hopped down from the Tornadus’s back like it was nothing.

That was a walk in the park, easy, he thought to himself as he hummed before getting another idea…

“You want to head over to the Drop Tower next?” he offered. Clearly with Fortree’s location, most of the crazier rides all had something to do with altitude; it was now a matter of trying to see who would chicken out and get airsick.

(Not him, of course, but nobody else needed to know about that, right?)

(Which reminded him, he would have to go hunt down Melody Miro’s latest thing, too. He could easily ask his friend to grab a signature for the stuff from Callan Young no biggie…)

“In fact… how many rides do you want to try today? I can take you on any which one you want to ride, I’ll cover your tickets for today should you need any more,” he offered. He wasn’t joking, this was a for reals-thing!

“How long?” he hummed, another wistful look crossing his face.

“We’ve only been together like what, a year, but it feels like much longer. I dunno, that’s what love does to you,” he continued, unable to keep the dreamy expression off his face as he found an unoccupied Altaria near the Milotic, and off they went!

“Well, he prefers to keep things low-key, however he’s the Ranger captain for Fortree, so if that means anything to you then yeah. Just his luck to have a Gym Leader,” he broke off to snort at the next words, “for a partner.”

Not boyfriend; but partner. That much already spoke volumes between the two of them.

He trailed off as he realized just how many rides were there. Maybe in hindsight it was right he did that so that they could take in at least one of everything—and then maybe determine which one was the best ride to be on!

“Well, if we’re going to be on the real spinny rides, won’t your ‘companion’ get airsick or something?” he added with this knowing grin on his face as he tilted his head in the Riolu’s direction.

“Can’t have the kid getting sick after all.”

There was this smirk on his face as he led the way toward the spinning section of the carnival. Geez, just how many rides did Johanna Joy have in that theme park of hers?!

(Of course, with an insanely high tolerance for being in the air, also came the little quirk of him never getting any kind of motion sickness at all. So it was just really a game of who would persevere throughout the day!)

Seriously, what was with him getting all the same thing/s several days in a row? Was this like some kind of message or something?!

Those words made his skin crawl, if at least for a few moments.

“Holy shit. You had etiquette school?” he began, blinking a few times before he let the actual cringe flash across his face while his hands were busy flicking through files.

(For someone among the staff ~~Claire~~ had the balls to record both matches of the two he mentioned; hell, one of them was up on the Sanctuary’s Pokétube page…)

“Ah, here we go. Found little Josh’s highlight reel.”

He then flicked the file open and handed it to her to watch. Hilariously, he was flying with the very same Noivern that he would be using for her challenge once he got word that the outdoor obstacle course was—

‘We’re all ready,’ he heard Ethan’s voice over the in-ear he had on.

“The course is ready,” he continued. Rather than making their way through the inside, he led the way on the outside, skirting around the front building and looking up to see that the saddled Noivern was already following them.

“He brought his Skarmory, if memory serves me right. And out of all the obstacles, Josh Devlin was actually the very first one to get a score of zero out of the entire thing!”

Doing a quick headcount of the five… Pokémon they’d summoned, he wondered if they were going to make any headway—

It didn’t take too long before one of the… strange things shook the earth, and—

“Wh—wha!” he yelled, almost landing on his ass had his Typhlosion not suddenly tried to steady his legs. “What the fuck is happening?!”

And right then and there—one of the giants took off, headed straight for the moon that had appeared in the sky…

“…I want to go there. Wait for me!” he yelled as he then took off at a running start, literally launching himself towards the ~~Kaguya~~ Celesteela that was now headed towards the moon that had appeared in the sky.

Uh-oh!

getting a head start on 29: ride one of the aforementioned large celesteela in prompt 28 to reach the large moon in the sky. here, a large gathering of celesteela can be found, ready to launch again, perhaps to new worlds. due to supernatural means, being on this moon may cause your characters to want to stay and remain in this realm instead of going back home.
