She glances over at Elise from above her sunglasses—unfortunately, most people were taller than the agent.[break][break]

“And you have experience with the medical corps, yes?”

The bronzong hovers silently in the air, surrounded by a heavy halo of HYPNOSIS.[break][break]

Yujin nods and steps past the guards. They could have just hurt them or knocked them unconscious, but plausible deniability was a sweet fruit, and a better one to sell the ‘Interpol Experience’ than its sour counterpart.[break][break]

As Nikita and Yujin enter the dockside warehouse, they hear the two bodies outside slump to the ground in stupor.[break][break]

The interior is large and dark and reeks of fish: the perfect place(?) to hide crates of fake pokedollars, or so they say.[break][break]

Trouble is, some of the rooms in the warehouse are still lit up.

It is an idyllic plaza to place a rendezvous: a Sunday afternoon next to a newly opened ice cream shop, on the last weekend of the returning spring where cold hearts thaw and careless children let slip their most treasured balloons into the sky yonder the park.[break][break]

“Everyone looks so happy, so peaceful.”[break][break]

Yujin nibbles at her cone of ice cream, gaze passing over the chess tables on the side of the plaza where they had just finished playing.[break][break]

“...Like a forest filled with woodland critters, right before someone points a flamethrower at it.”

“I’ll do my level best.”[break][break]

This was a lot of faith that the ranger had in her and her ability to control someone else’s pokemon, but confidence was half of the equation.[break][break]

Dipping the frosmoth lower, they succinctly entered into a flying formation. [break][break]

A trail of flame licks across the sky as the volcarona charges forward. Yujin waits patiently for the pesky bombardier to spook, but the bird is instead full-on rammed with a dull thunk that even travels far down to the other duo.[break][break]

“Do the thing, Michiko.”[break][break]

The breath of a blizzardous ICY WIND spools forth, catching the bombardier mid-fall and sending it stiffly hurled away from the voltorb field.

“It’s a good life, I think. But how can I know? It’s the only one I’ve ever lived.”[break][break]

She sets up her tools and the phone light, disconnects the power generator, and puts on some safety glasses—usually being a large proponent of the safety squint, but perhaps not keen to flaunt work hazards in front of the commissioner.[break][break]

The task of examining the breaker switches and checking the fuel lines is certainly interesting, but not enough to forget pleasant company.[break][break]

“I’ve missed a lot of milestones. Ones I’ll never get back. Will I ever settle down? Ah, wouldn’t even know how. [break][break]

But when you’re good at something, you think you should keep doing it. Especially if it’s important. Especially if you’re one of the few that can.”

The passageway rumbles with detritus and technicolor. Like a little appendix, it threatens to swell and burst from all the shit being thrown around in it.[break][break]

“Almost.”[break][break]

Everything she needs is deftly condensed and thrown into her bizarrely spacious briefcase—and anything that doesn’t fit is slung over her back in the vein of a doomsday prepper.[break][break]

Pinned under one of her golurk’s fingers is a nihilego with a small shard of metal lodged into it: the mark of their old battle. It, and then her golurk, vanish in a flash as the rest of the cave collapses and leaves the duo outside.[break][break]

Yujin inhales the resulting dust with a smile. “Ahhh~ Well, I think we did a tremendous job here. [break][break]

Great work as always, Mr. Graves.”

"Good morning, Mr. Connors."[break][break]

She does not look up. She does not perceive the slant of tangerine light that races millions of miles across the universe only to crash through the gaps in the blinds—that is to say, the asscrack of dawn.[break][break]

0600 sharp, Large Conference Room B, Pokemon League, Ever Grande.[break][break]

She sits at the table and a pile of papers keep her company. The last time she was in Hoenn she was made to check in with Callan Young on the state of the region's League. Given his loss of Elite Four status, it seemed the buck had passed on.[break][break]

Alas.[break][break]

"Do forgive me for the hour."

"Ambassador."[break][break]

They stand just outside the Galarian Embassy, atop worn and rounded stones.[break][break]

The agent offers a gloved hand.[break][break]

"Ha. Yujin Ha, with Interpol."[break][break]

With her other hand, she adjusts her sunglasses ever-so-slightly. Elise looked different from those priestesses atop Mt. Silver—but there was the mixed blood to consider, plus the already distant relation between clans.[break][break]

And one doesn't toss away the fruit just because it comes from a bitter tree.[break][break]

"Are you done for the day, ma'am? We have much to go over."

She glances at Shalin with brief surprise. It was indeed a magnificent city, a place where one's thoughts also shift with the seasons. For the longest time she had only seen it from afar, like a basin of light and life that every child in the village yearned to run down and touch.[break][break]

“...Up there is heaven / Down here is Ecruteak.”[break][break]

She had always agreed with that proverb.[break][break]

The bombirdier stays the same sized speck across the sky, much to Yujin's frustration. But she hardly needs to consider the question before the easy response whips back. "I won't miss anything that you can destroy."

No sooner did the warning come do the nearby eggs titter and faintly crack.[break][break]

A peal of light follows Tom's PROTECT. Suddenly the cave fills with the massive figure of GD-0623, which can only kneel and hunch before the craggy ceiling. [break][break]

Quickly and deliberately, Yujin retrieves the nearby sensitive equipment regardless of how Gunner is faring up ahead. When she is done she gives the golurk a nod.[break][break]

Not having space to do much else, the creature slams one hand down upon the ground in a resplendent EARTHQUAKE. The eggs splatter and pop, and the embryos within die instantly in their many stages of development.[break][break]

The passage shudders with the warble of enraged and pained Nihilego. They appear from the dim, brandishing their tentacles with a VENOSHOCK.[break][break]
