Ryoto shrugged off the question, "No, I've not come for a dragon. In fact, I think I'm satisfied with what I've caught." The thief would glance down at the Pokeball harboring the Duskull. Giving his Tinkaton a knowing look, he'd look back at Josh. "Well, you seem to know what you're doing, so I'll just be on my way." With this, he'd begin his descent back down the Sky Pillar, faster than his way up given all the shattered walls and passageways. As for what Josh would encounter at the top of the pillar, Ryoto would not stick around long enough for it to be an issue.

With the day coming to an end, no Ditto in sight, the thief let out a sigh. He knew it was an unlikely run-in, especially with how good they are at hiding. That ability of theirs was part of the reason he wanted one. Tinkaton, a tad let down she hadn't the chance to bonk anything, would soon find a challenger. Emerging from the tall grass, was a stray Pawniard, a menacing glare in their eyes. Placing a hand on another Pokeball, Ryoto was immediately put on guard, while even his Tinkaton hesitated.

[break][break]What followed was a clash of steel, Tinkaton bashing against the Pawniard's blades, sending it back towards a tree. Like a soldier, though cast astray from his comrades, keeps moving forward. Ryoto kept a sharp eye on their movements, careful not to let Bonky tire herself out before she could subdue the Pawniard. In the end though, no matter how determined the Pawniard was, it was difficult to go head-to-head against a Tinkaton waving a giant steel hammer. While weakened, Ryoto would shift hands off one of his own Pokemon and move to a spare Pokeball on his belt. He'd then toss it at the Pawniard, for it to then be captured, followed by the silent moments in which Ryoto waited to see if it settled.

New to the region of Hoenn, there were a lot of faces he didn't know. That included the Gym Leader, whom he assumed was just a trainer who got a little in over his head. "That seems like an awfully dangerous way to get stronger, no? Well, to each their own." Ryoto threw his hands up nonchalantly, with his Tinkaton mirroring a similar gesture.

[break][break]Giving room for the man to respond, Ryoto would muse to himself, "Hmm..." Taking note of the Pokeballs in his possession, he was clearly a trainer, how good of one he was unsure of. Flygon was not weak by any means, so he wondered if he should be more guarded. Anyway, Ryoto stood there expecting some sort of explanation or embarrassing excuse, though, given they weren't in the safest of places, other Pokemon could show up any second.

With the initial concern having passed, Ryoto would continue along the route, until passing by a small pond. This pond however small it was, was not empty. With a squint, he could make out the silhouette of what looked like...a Crawdaunt? Knowing how territorial they could be after running into one in Galar, he quietly guided his Tinkaton in the opposite direction, knowing she'd probably be too eager for a game of whack-a-crawdaunt.

Ryoto recognized Elise shortly after the mention of her royal lineage. Feigning embarrassment, Ryoto would make a sort of impromptu bow, "Ahh, Princess, I am truly sorry for my rude behavior!" With his head lowered, it would conceal the amused expression on his face. He wondered just how lucky he could get in a single day. While the Devon Corporation was on his list of hits while in Rustboro, to think he'd also get the chance to steal some family heirlooms or jewelry. They certainly had to be well protected, knowing the reputation of Galar, it was going to be easy.

[break][break]With his head still lowered, like a peon attempting to make peace with a superior, Ryoto plotted. Though the princess was likely playing the role of some sort of ambassador or diplomat, the jewelry she wore suggested that wherever her estate was, it had to have something worth taking. What that something was didn't matter too much, as to Ryoto, it was the thrill of it all that interested him.

[break][break]Should Elise be eager for the man to raise his head, Ryoto would eventually do so, the mischievous expression on his face wiped away and replaced with a false discomfort. Eyes scanning her posture and demeanor, the phantom thief would take note of the Polteageist floating beside her. Unbothered by its presence, it was enough that he knew she had the Pokemon at her side.

[break][break]In an attempt to curry Elise's favor, or to at least lower her guard even further, Ryoto would double down on his act. "Please allow me to make up for my poor showing. I am a simple citizen, so I don't have much to offer, but whatever I can do to help the people of Galar, I would be honored." Once again Ryoto was bowing, expected instead of pleading for forgiveness, he was asking for redemption.

"Hm?" Ryoto turned to look further up the tower, where he'd witnessed what looked like a distressed Flygon. Wondering if it would make a suitable aerial scout, he considered trying to catch it, but the idea was quickly dismissed as he saw it wasn't alone. Seeing the man clinging hard on to Flygon, the Galarian just blinked a few times in disbelief. Was this guy trying to get himself killed?

[break][break]Bonky, noticing her trainer's curiosity, would turn to look at the Flygon as it was thrashing around. She'd raise her hammer, winding up for a baseball swing, with ample debris around them suitable for a devastating scattershot. This behavior was generally allowed by her Trainer, but this time around, Ryoto would place a hand on the top of the Tinkaton's hammer. "Not now, let's just watch." A little disappointed she wasn't allowed to splatter the Flygon, Bonky would lower her hammer. "Let's continue our climb, maybe we'll get to see something interesting..."

The rustle of a bush caught both Ryoto and Bonky's attention, their heads turning in sync. Emerging was a Dubwool, clearly wary of the strangers. Ryoto's Tinkaton almost immediately raised her hammer, tempted to smash the Dubwool's head in. However, before she could realize this reality, the Dubwool ran off. Given it wasn't a pokemon that interested Ryoto, he made no attempts to pursue it. Fortunately, it wasn't a particularly aggressive pokemon, otherwise a fight would have been unavoidable.

Wandering the route known for it's fair share of peculiar pokemon, Ryoto watched his Tinkaton hum to herself, eager to whack something with her giant steel hammer. In the meantime, her trainer was thinking to himself about the next big heist. What he sought on this route were at least one of two pokemon in particular, Zorua and Ditto. Having learned they have been spotted in the area in the past, he aimed on getting both. Though, both unlikely to appear just because he willed it, Ryoto remained optimistic. Their powers alone would make his greatest heist to date all that more realistic.

"Ah, was it that obvious? Haha." Ryoto's demeanor was relaxed, but in his mind, he was trying to figure out exactly who this woman was. With jewelry and attire like hers, she had to be someone of importance. Having picked up on the similarity in their accents, he could tell she was from Galar, but not quite sure of who she was. If Elise took a closer look at Ryoto, she'd notice his clothes, while not tattered, were worn from travel. He'd clearly been on the road for some time, which made it unlikely he had been in Rustboro for very long. 


[break][break]As their conversation continued, the more his memory would pull back at the less important knowledge to him. "Hmm, have we met before?" She seemed familiar like he'd seen her from somewhere, but he just couldn't put his finger on it. Was it once he first entered the city? Was it from one of the nearby towns? Or perhaps, from even before he'd come to Hoenn? Unsure, he'd let the woman's words clear his confusion, should she see it fit to inform him.

With a smirk, Ryoto claimed the Duskull he'd just caught. Committing a nickname to memory, he'd place the ball back on his belt. Bonky, his Tinkaton companion, made a nice clean path for her trainer to reach the upper levels of the Sky Pillar. With a moment to take in the sights, the aspiring thief would look over the ledge of a waist-high wall. "Whew, that's a long way down." The wide horizon of trees and Pokemon far off in the distance really put the world in a different perspective.

[break][break]Backing off from the edge, Ryoto would turn to pat his Tinkaton on the head, who looked proud at herself for giving that Duskull a good wallop. "Not exactly what we were looking for, but I think our little team is coming along nicely." At this point, Ryoto would glance back at the rubble created by his Tinkaton. Given what was probably some sort of spiritual holy ground, he started to wonder if there was anything within these walls worth stealing. Though, if there was, it was probably looted long ago, so he didn't expect much.

PHANTOM THIEF

On the streets of Rustboro City, the devious phantom thief Ryoto planned to commit a heist on The Devon Corporation. However, the biggest problem was that he was completely lost. Having heard rumors of the corporation keeping various prototypes of innovative and unique items, he believed they had to have something worth stealing. However, there was one issue, he had no idea where anything in this city was.

[break][break]Compared to Wydon in Galar, the vibe of this place was completely different. Where things were and how the roads were laid out was a total culture shock. "Hmm..." Rubbing his temples, the mischievous thief looked around for any clues to the location of the Devon Headquarters. Stuck in his own head, Ryoto would turn the corner and fail to react in time to a woman he'd run into. Normally when he was bumping into people, it was to pickpocket them, so he immediately checked his pockets.

[break][break]It wouldn't take long to realize he'd made an honest blunder, a bit embarrassing for a self-proclaimed phantom thief, but nevertheless, Ryoto would keep up his act as the innocent civilian. "Ahh, sorry, sorry. My head was a bit in the clouds there." Scratching the back of his head, he looked at the woman he bumped into, and his eyes were immediately drawn to the sparkle of her jewelry. Maintaining his aloof attitude, he'd wait to hear the woman out should she have anything to say to him.

It seemed the havoc caused by Bonky's door smashing had awoken something in the ruins. Ryoto and Bonky were unaware of what was coming up for them, but would soon find out. A Duskull, furious its rest had been disrupted, emerged from the ruins beneath with a vengeance. Hopeful to find a victim to feed on. However, as its head emerged from the stonework to look up at the ones making all the noise, a Tinkaton's unnerving smile would meet its gaze. With Bonky's hammer held up for a game of whack-a-mole, as soon as the Duskull came to realize and regret their decision, the Tinkaton would golf swing strong enough to Knock Off the Duskull's mask for a brief moment as the Duskull was sent tumbling into a waist-high ledge.

[break][break]Rattled by the sudden and mischievous attack, the Duskull looked like it was on the verge of collapsing. However, vindictive due to its rest being disturbed, the Duskull rose with malice in its eye sockets. Preparing to take its revenge, a Pokeball could be seen flying towards its face. Ryoto smirked as he jumped at the opportunity created by his gung-ho partner. "A Duskull? Now that's a surprise, haha! Good work Bonky." Raising her giant hammer in triumph, the Tinkaton would make a gleeful cheer. The Pokeball, having contained the Duskull, blipped and shook. Whether or not the capture was successful, Ryoto would stand in wait as his Tinkaton was busy congratulating herself. Though he'd come to Sky Pillar to catch a flying Pokemon, the curveball of the Duskull was enough to make Ryoto consider a change to his approach. Perhaps what he needed for his next heist wasn't a Pokemon that could scout from above, but rather, one that could scout from within.
