he shows off his sygna suit with a smug look on his face. two thumbs point back to himself, showcasing the clothes he has on.

"kinda worth though, don't you think?"

for the espeon, it wasn't, especially if it's forced to throw coins at the talonflame charging at him and throwing him off to the side for a pay day.

the random power gem hits the espeon in the eye, temporarily blinding it as well.

it fires off its own version of the move, albeit weaker, around it as well. much like the froakie, the espeon's pay day is also fired off randomly.

"what's happening?" priam finds himself asking out loud.

all he hears are rocks and coins clanging on the ground instead of jets of water or the whooshy sounds of psychic.

"hehehe, thank you!" compliments were his weakness. "i gotta make use of it too, y'know, instead of just spendin' the rest of the tourney lookin' up ways to pay for it!"

he takes one look at his own sygna suit again, admiring it the same way shalin did, and turns back to her.

"ooh, i'd love to see what you'd have!" the suits were cool, after all. "if the opportunity calls for it, then maybe i'll get to see it!"

opportunities to come out of his hole were limited given his status as rocket, and even going incognito proves risks. he would make a promise, but he isn't sure if he could uphold it.

the same opener happened, and it'll only be up to their opponent to switch it up if they want to.

priam, of course, stays the course. there is only one objective here, and it's to pay off his sygna suit debt with every way he can. rocket stuff was getting too complicated for him at the moment, at least.

"do the money attack!"

as winds start blowing to their direction again, the espeon keeps its mind on doing one thing, which is to spray coins on the talonflame throughout the match.

the espeon takes its stand against the froakie, letting out a dazzling gleam to blind it right off the bat.

priam is blinded too, but he at least knows that his espeon is still in control thanks to his sygna suit syncing his thoughts with his pokemon. then again, it might just be his own blind confidence at that point.

the mega evolution came. she used it the last time too, and priam isn't sure if playing it serious this time is going to help in the long run.

he won't show doubt though.

"hit them with a pow wow!"

the espeon steps back as the stinger threatens to take a solid hit on him. psychic pulls all the earlier coins towards espeon, forming a makeshift shield against the attack.

regardless, mega evolution inputs enough force in the attack that it pushes the espeon back. a technical win is their win condition with mega evolution in play.

as priam's energy rises once again, he points espeon to the direction of the field, ready for the match to start once again.

"you know the drill!"

the iconic attack made out of coins makes its way again on the field, peppering the talonflame with the espeon's pay day.

"pay day!"

the move was gimmicky, but priam uses it in a way different from before. with the rest of espeon's move being unable to block things physically, coins were the next best thing it can use.

the spray of coins clashes against the needles fired by the beedrill in an attempt to block most of the attack with something opaque.

this is the rematch no one wanted, and the rematch everyone gets.

priam steps into the area of battle, fixing his sygna suit up as he prepares another fight to pay his debt from commissioning the said suit.

"well, well, well, if it ain't mister lavinge," he greets. "i hope you're happy with facing me again."

the espeon wasn't after barely scraping by from the last match.

wings clash against the coins, and since the attack technically hit the talonflame first, regardless of whether it was effective or not, the point counts for them.

the vital gear registers two vitals for priam after the technical win.

it wasn't like that was the objective though. he leans on the ground and starts picking up the coins like a gremlin.

once the trainer takes the attention back to them, priam lifts his head up and smiles. "good match, brother."

his sygna suit activates. it was go time.

the beedrill's tailwind blows wind to their direction, planning to propel themselves towards the espeon's direction. he takes his thumb out and points it downwards.

"gravity."

the espeon releases its cry, emanating enough psychic energy to drag everything downwards, including the beedrill. surely, it won't be faster in the ground as it was in the air.

a rematch wasn't what he expected, but it doesn't put a damper on his mood regardless.

"something like that," he tells shalin in a casual tone. "i can't be known as someone who just tries something and quits midway, y'know."

all he does was get his espeon to use pay day, though. that might earn him a worse moniker.

"how about i stop doin' the strat and get the actual espy in the field this time?" he offers, "just to spice our rematch."

for the first time, the espeon shows interest.

it was pocket change, but it all adds up. priam starts collecting the coins from the edges of the fight while his espeon forces itself to print more out.

the talonflame goes for an acrobatic move, making it difficult for the espeon to aim its stream of coins with pay day. still, it does its best.

it points upwards and shoots out its attack at the talonflame, leaving the match's result up to gravity on whether or not the earth's pull takes the coins back to the ground or not.

he catches the other trainer's eye and smiles back. he picks a coin up and tosses it up in the air before pocketing them in front of him, informing him of his intent.

even though they know what priam wants, it's not going to change how they act since they only have one move in this competition.

the espeon gets up and faces the talonflame once more, spraying coins with pay day at the bird as it charges right towards the espeon with flame charge.
