They made their way through the grassy plains, marked by dry patches of earth as clearings. Anyone could easily see Shiva prowling the grass, her blue fur sticking out. Leo had to wonder if Safari Zone ever catered to ice type terrain. Now THAT would be fun, to come here just to sled. [break][break] As he was dreaming of snowy landscapes like his old homeregion-- he heard the sound of grunting and shouts. Curious, Leo and Shiva went to investigate the sound coming from one of the clearings. He soon saw it-- the little Mienfoo there. He wasn't battling a Pokemon, but practicing all on his own. He was performing dynamic arches and moves-- as if he was performing a 'kata' for martial arts. It was quite impressive to watch as he was smooth, yet swift with his movements, leaping and flipping as he did so. He had great aerial skills for a marsupial pokemon. [break][break] Leo made the error of taking a step forward, stepping on a twig. Mienfoo heard it and quickly turned to see the duo of trainer and his pokemon. The little mammel quickly spun around and took a fighting stance on them, prepared to battle! [break][break] The Glaceon was more than willing-- as she cast a growl at the fighting pokemon. However Leo had another idea. "Hey there! Sorry to interrupt! That's some seriously sick moves there! " Leo said with a grateful smile as he casually stepped into the clearing. Shiva gave a disagreeing growl, concerned her trainer was being too friendly. Still, Leo pressed on, showing he meant no harm."Still, if your practicing, really isn't good to just use on air. You want to have a sparring partner? " the big trainer asked. [break][break] Meinfoo looked puzzled as the human trainer knelt down, trying to come close to its height. The creature sniffed the air of the man, sensing he was a bit tough. As Leo knelt down, he extended a cupped gloved hand-- and helded in the air. "COme on, boxing buddy. What you say? Give it a good smack! It's okay. I can take it." he said with a broad smile. [break][break] Glaceon gave a cry of frustration at Leo-- always putting himself in reckless danger with other Pokemon. But Leo had a habit of fighting bare-handed with pokemon for practice. He and Odin, his Bearatic would restle or spar, with Leo using it to test his own strength and Beartic to practice his. [break][break] After a moment pause, Meinfoo took up the offer and brought an open paw strike to the trainer's hand. It struck the same place, enjoying the feel of actually hitting resistance, like a punching bag. Despite the hard force of the blow, Leo held his ground as he absorbed the shock, feeling that sting of a fist meeting his palm. [break][break] "Not bad, brawler! I like it. You got some serious moves and power in those fists. " Leo said, being chummy. "I gotta brush up on my own if I wanna throw a punch as good as you." he said with a bit of flattery. [break][break] Shiva sighed, and shook her head and mane at the trouble the Leo recklessly would get into. [break][break]

The catch of light caught attention as the sun broke through the clouds as the storm began to pass. Odin looked out with a happy bark, slowly getting up to look outside. The Bear was happy to see the snow enter a light flurry, sunlight greeting them through the peaks of the clouds. Leo too emerged, stretching his arms out as he exited the cave along with Shalin! "Whoo! See, told you nothing to worry about? EH, who knows. I'm not in it for the promotions and stuff. " he commented lightly, though a raise was always appreciated. [break][break] Leo did like the snow, but this place was depressing too. He was sure if he opened up his mind and expand his horizon, he would grow to love Hoenn in all its beauty and chaotic nature. He smiled to himself as he patted Odin on the back, feeling the bear's thick fur. [break][break] At Shalin's orders, he walked along side with Odin. "Whatever you say, boss!" Leo said nonchalantly as they ventured to his start as a real Pokemon Ranger. [break][break]

The terrain of the Safari Zone was indeed spacious. Venture further into the reserve and you wouldn't think you were in a sanctuary under some dome. Leo walked with Glaceon, her cool aura keeping him cool in the warm air. It clearly was designed for some fire Pokemon who needed the extra heat or dry climate. Leo stretched out, greeting the sun, even with his coat on, it felt nice to be in this kind of terrain. While he preferred snow and ice, he had to admit he missed fresh air and warm sunlight. [break][break] He was distracted for a moment as an adorable little fletchling perched on his shoulder, curious by the big blonde guy. [break][break] "Oh, hello there. Enjoying spreading your wings?" Leo asked to the bird. [break][break] The Fletcling soon hopped a few steps, then took of flying-- landing on Shiva's head. [break][break] Unlike Leo, Shiva gave a grumpy growl as she shook her mane, dislodging the fiery bird as some steam was set off by the firebird's heat. [break][break] The fletching flew away, chirping away happy as Leo and Shiva continued their search. [break][break]

"Yeah, I know an officer name Clair. She's really is blunt and direct. Old friends, but doesn't like me much. Hahaha..." he said, bad memories when she didn't care for his chummy and laid-back attitude. A part of him was scared of her. [break][break]
As he sat and got out some food for Odin to eat, he saw the storm getting worse. "Well its not like there was a watch station anywhere in the region. Besides, I had hope to explore this area, but ... well can't say the view is good. Hey, are there any mountains or snowy peaks around Hoenn? I't be great to go somewhere where Odin can frolic a bit" he asked his new friend and fellow ranger. [break][break] Leo wasn't worried about the snow at all. Odin being an ice type not only could survive, but he had dug out of snow caves before with just his claws. No one was a better. [break][break] "I don't think we have to worry too long. Storms tend to come and go. " he said, being a very go with the flow ranger it seemed. [break][break]

Littleroot Town was suppose to be the quietest, peaceful town in Hoenn, but that luxury seemed to be a stretch of late as people were growing anxious. The disturbances of Team Rocket, the Dimensional disturbances in the regions, even the 'aliens' that had been showing up was causing a ruckus in the area. IT had caused much unrest in more rural towns with no real way to defend themselves. Even if there were Pokemon Trainers among them, they felt the need to take up arms and be ready to fight if a dangerous rogue showed up. [break][break]



Leo had arrived there, riding his Glaceon of all things leaving small trails of ice in his wake. The coated Ranger looked around, seeing while the town was quiet, seemed some commotion was going on at the town center.  Slowly, Leo rode Shiva into the town, to see a bunch of people in protest. They were having some kind of debate, as there were mixes of confusion, fear and frustration. [break][break]


"These attacks are growing worse and worse! We may not be a city, but we can't just take this lying down!" [break][break]

"My grandkids life here. We have to make sure this town is safe for our children to grow up!" [break][break]

"We can't let Team Rocket destroy all we love. We have to prepare to fight ourselves!" [break][break]

MOre and more people began to voice their opinions. The animoucity was growing as Leo joined them. [break][break]

"If we just contact the officers of the League then--" [break][break]

"And what will they do? They'd tie it all up in paperwork long before they send us help! We have to depend on ourselves!" [break][break]

"They only care about their standing and their gains. They don't care about people like us!!" [break][break] 

Leo, who was more than anyone against Team ROcket-- sighed at the growing mob of people. He was a bit worried how this might grow. Finally, he got off Shiva and soon brought his fingers together. 

"Wh-wheeeeeeeeewww!!"[break][break]

The high pitched whistle got many's attention. "Hey! Sorry to interrupt the party, but there really is no reason to get your draws in a bunch, okay? Chill out a moment," Leo called out as he dug into his coat. He soon pulled out a device, and showed a holographic card depicting his Ranger license. "My name is Leo Winters. I'm a Pokemon Ranger, assigned to this region. Listen, I understand your concerns, but there is no need for this kind of outburst." he tried to explain. [break][break]

People did disagree, shouting how they wanted to defend themselves, their homes and their families. Leo listened, and felt sympathetic to them."Listen! I understand! All of you-- you are absolutely right! No one should be unable to protect themselves. The fact is life is filled with dangers that can pop up on you at any time. It's important to be prepared should the worst happen. But you cannot stop living your lives, or giving up on your other responsibilities in the face of looming threats. That is what people like me are here for. " he explained, boasting a smile. "Trust me, you are not alone in how you feel. But there are others here sworn to act in your defense. To put our lives on the line to ensure you all can live the lives you choose and protect your loved ones. But this is not the way to prepare yourselves. Please, think about this carefully. " [break][break]

His words served to cool off the crowd, at least for the moment. [break][break]

Leo had shown his ranger pass and paid the fee to enter the Safari Zone. This was his first time in there. He had heard the stories about other rangers who went in there, found some nice pokemon. He had mixed feelings. A secure sanctuary where trainers could come in, find rare pokemon and catch them. It was humane of course, rarely trainers exercized a 'poachers' methods to get them. Still, he didn't know how he felt about pokemon shipped in and given a home in an eclosed area. But then again, it was a safe environment for people to come and visit pokemon. It had its charms.[break][break]

Leo had entered the area, seeing a wide area of forests, some abandoned buildings, meadows and small mountains. It was hard for him to imagine this place was all contained inside a dome. Still, he would consider it an adventure and began to explore. Against his desire to have company, he kept Odin in his Pokeball. Many of the pokemon here were young and more used to the warmer temperatures. Plus, Odin was likely to scare some Pokemon. At least this time, he would keep his head with him. [break][break]

However, he soon called out Shiva-- his Glaceon as the elegant creature emerged, joining Leo by his side. "Ready to go make some new friends, Shiva?" Leo asked. [break][break]

Glaceon gave a happy cry as she swished her tail, a bit of powered snow coming off her. WIth that, the two ventured into the safari to see who they could walk away with as new partners to help the young Ranger. [break][break]

Leo was caught in his lie as he laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his head. Odin certainly didn't help giving his partner away. It be worse if Shiva/Glaceon was out. She was just plain COLD! Either way, it wasn't hard to tell that Leo was being rather ignorant and hadn't briefed up on things. "Yeah... ahhah... sorry about that. I kind of don't watch news too much" he said. [break][break]
Petting the Type Null ended at the mention of Bio-weapon. An artificial Pokemon. Sounded like the kind of junk that Rocket did. He took a hint and stopped, but would of wanted to keep petting her-- to try and make her comfortable. All that armor did in fact look horrible. He paused as he stopped. "I see... " he said, the idea of pokemon being used like that not sitting well with him. [break][break] Shalin mention about his motivations did bring up the fact that Leo could of joined as an Officier. He laughed at that, rubbing a hand behind his head. "Well, that's true but... I kind of have a problem with authority, ya know? No offense," he commented with chuckle. Odin gave a grunt of his own, agreeing that Leo was indeed a rebellious spirit. "Besides why limit myself? Who says the two are mutually exclusive. ANd besides Pokemon need just as much help as people. Doesn't mean we can't kick butt either, right Buddy Bear!" [break][break] Beartic gave a roudy roar, pounding his paws against his chest-- till another 'grumble' echoed. At first, Shalin could of thought it was the storm... but it turned out to be Odin's stomach. The big white bear looked embarrassed and sheepily looked around, trying to pretend it wasn't from him. [break][break] Leo laughed at this and smiled broadly. "Eh, looks like all this exploring made you hungry. I'd really hate to just give you rations though..." Leo said, the storm still not letting up. He wondered if he had anything as he got out his pack and began to explore it if he had any pokemon food for a heard bear type meal. [break][break]

Leo paused at the comment of "Mentio" . He knew that a legendary pokemon had turned this place into a frozen wasteland. Home to some, death to others, sadly. That was as much as he knew, but not about the tied-in events. He was a bit ignorant on stuff like that... [break][break]
"Oh! THat! Yeah I know about what happened with Mentio...ahahah!" he said, bashfully laughing with a hand behind his head, as if casual. [break][break] The Beartic, Odin, gave Leo a cold leer that pretty much spelled 'bullshit' at his trainer. Clearly Leo was one of those types who tried to put up an impressive front, but Odin knew his partner best. [break][break]
Breaking the awkward moment, The Type Null seemed to take an odd liking to Leo. Curious by the armor it wore, all locked up in that-- Leo reached up and gently tried to scratch and pet the pokemon where the armor met its fur. "Damn, why is it stuck in this armor? Doesn't it get annoying for it? I feel bad for the fellow." he explained, looking to his boss. [break][break] At least now he wasn't alone here. She asked him how long he was a ranger and how long he been out in this place. "Eh, I don't mind snowy places. I love them. It's a shame there aren't any real mountains or stuff around here. There were more where I used to live as a kid, " Leo explained. [break][break]At the part of his time here, "Well... I been a ranger for little over a month. Guess I'm still new, but I wanted to be one. Seemed like a line of work that I can follow. Besides, I meet new pokemon, and kick the butts of ROckets or any other jerks who try to mess with them." he said with a proud pounding of his fists. [break][break] "Rrroooar!" Beartic agreed with a cheerful bark-roar from the polar bear. [break][break]
