Juliana took his hand that was extended to her and gently, yet firmly, shook it. She was glad he didn't find her way of conversing too strange.

[break][break] While the young man went on to explain his situation, Wynter also noticed movement from the corner of her eye. Not satisfied with the reaction from the other trainer she went off to cause more mischief elsewhere, but still within earshot of her own trainer. After all, she wasn't a complete rebel.

[break][break] At the trainer's apology Juliana quickly shook her head and went to typing furiously on her screen once more.

[break][break] She flinched at the noise that the shrieking trevenant made as it was knocked unconscious. That was when she noticed that Wynter was no longer by her side. Glancing around, it only took her a moment to find her before light snowflakes appeared before the clattering of metal hit the ground.

[break][break] Blinking in confusion she saw an irritated Wynter storming back towards her after causing a mess with the honedge that was now unconscious. Deciding to take advantage of the situation she also flung a pokeball at it to catch it.

The barrage of pink & blue mystical flames serve to divert the beast's attention once more but it was the joint attack from the stranger that allowed Jules the opening she needed to strike the aegislash in a vital spot.

[break][break] But she'd need to do more than that to take down this phantom. Juliana gritted her teeth as her Charcadet appeared by her side. Wynter continued her own barrage, amping up the fire power, while Helios began to glow. Burning hot embers popped off it's body. Within seconds Juliana recognized what it was attempting to do and it's reckless.

[break][break] "Helios no!" she shouted but it was too late. "FALL BACK!" she shouted to the stranger as she managed to retreat back scooping up her Froslass as she did so. Suddenly speaking, only to yell, irritated her vocal chords. She could already taste the iron in her mouth from the very act, but she had to warn them and she had no time to do so.

[break][break] Meanwhile, the Charcadet ignited the whole room, utilizing a giant LAVA PLUME within the cavern. Within moments the area around the aegislash was scorched in a towering scarlet inferno. The heat was brutal but luckily Jules had been fast enough to take cover.

[break][break] The problem was the aftermath. The cave trembled with tremors while the enclosed cavern began to fill with smoke. Jules coughed as she attempted to see through the smoke, but she couldn't make anything out.

Juliana nodded at her partner's cautionary words. When she was younger she might've boasted in overconfidence over her abilities and charged forward without looking back. But...a lot of things have changed since then. Jules wasn't the same person she used to be.

[break][break] Sanguine eyes shift downwards upon the prompt arrival of the Lycanroc, who extended it's paw in formal greeting. Juliana smiled and gently took it's paw in her gloved hand and shook it gently, bowing forward in a greeting of her own. With that, they were on their way.

[break][break] Jules did her best not to lag behind. All things considered, she was quite athletic, but this cold and snow were something different. And that was saying something considering snow was what she knew back home in Snowpoint City. There was something deathly chilling about the silent icelands.

[break][break] It cooled her to the bone and she couldn't shake it off.

[break][break] It didn't take them long to come across some tracks, claw marks with faint traces of blood. It caused Juliana's brow to knit together in a frown.

[break][break] Due to the fact that they had no idea where whoever or whatever they were tracking was, Jules opted not to respond with her phone and instead nodded. They would need to trail forward carefully. Her hand stayed rested on the hilt of her sword as they carefully trudged forward, her body on full alert now.

When Isaac called out into the shadows no voice would respond.

[break][break] Within the cover of shadow, Juliana would press her lips into a thin line. She hadn't meant to sneak up upon the individual. She could only hope they were frightened. Jules' had simply been on patrol in the area. There had been notes of Rockets desecrating the burial site and poaching pokemon in the area.

[break][break] She'd been vigilant in her duties considering that she was a fresh recruit within Hoenn's Ranger Ranks. She still had a lot to prove and she didn't want to embarrass herself nor let anyone down. While Juliana hesitated, her Froslass beside her snickered with mischievous intent.

[break][break] Floating orbs of fire formed in the darkness yet still failed to illuminate the intruder. Wynter's WILL-O-WISPS added an eeriness to the encounter all together.

[break][break] With an inaudible sigh, Juliana swiftly decided to put an end to Wynter's little games, by stepping forward slowly, her arms raised to signify she meant no harm. As she approached she fished her phone out from her pocket quickly typing a message for Isaac.

Juliana was still going through the onboarding process with the Rangers here in Hoenn, so she wasn't that 'experienced' when it came to proper fieldwork. However, hands were short these days with the war efforts going on.

[break][break] So when asked if she could look into this strange 'phenomenon' that was occurring within the region, of course she said she could handle it on her own.

[break][break] How foolish that was.

[break][break] It would seem that would be her first and last time overestimating her abilities. Juliana was capable, that much was true, but she had underestimated the strange happenings that occurred here in Hoenn.

[break][break] When met face to face with a goliath version of an ancient Aegislash she realized just how out of her depth she was.

[break][break] The creature emitted a glow that painted the damp cavern walls in a golden light. It inched closer and closer towards her, cornering her as it threatened to end her futile existence with one blow from it's heavy shield.

[break][break] Meanwhile, Juliana was wracking her brain for a plan while Wynter, her Froslass, staid on stand-by beside her. If they acted hastily that could prove their very last mistake. Jules' didn't want to rush into anything but she was going to be forced to make a decision soon, otherwise she'd be crushed meat.

[break][break] That's when the sound of a rock being kicked echoed through the chamber. Sanguine pools snapped towards the direction of the sound just as the Aegislash did. However, the moment it turned it's back on her was the opening that she'd been waiting for. With a click of her tongue and a nod towards her Froslass, Julianna lowered herself in stance as her hand gripped the sheathe of her blade.

[break][break] Wynter began to conjure pink and blue mystical flames beside herself by the dozen. Each ball of flame pooled together to form bigger ones before she began to launch a barrage of WILL-O-WISP at the backside of the Aegislash.

[break][break] The moment the balls of sinister flame hit the Aegislash was the moment Juliana rushed forward. Her speed was intense as she blitzed from one corner of the cavern towards her target.

[break][break] Using her momentum to her advantage she jumped up in the air, aiming for the Aegislash with a spinning slash, hopefully aiming for what she assumed could be a possible weak point.

[break][break] The key here was to make the most of the moment while it was distracted with their newest arrival.

Juliana hadn't been in Hoenn for long but she figured she should hurry up and settle in. Especially if she was going to be staying for a while, which is what she planned to do. One of the best ways to get established in a new place was to get a job, so putting her skillsets to the test she went ahead and signed herself up to join the Rangers.

[break][break] Besides with war going on here it was clear they needed all the help they could get. Others might have found it strange that she relocated to such a hostile area but she has family here. Family she cares about. If she could make herself useful here then maybe she'd be one step closer to reconciling with her cousin...

[break][break] Jules' thoughts drifted off to illeana reyes and how they hadn't spoken in years, especially since everything went down the way it did. Just the thought sent a pain wave through her chest.

[break][break] The biting winter winds quickly brought her back to reality though. That and the voice of her partner for this mission. His name was Silv...Silverio? At least that sounded right. She recalled a name like that on the dossier that she had read prior to meeting up here.

[break][break] She could tell just by looking at him that he was quite experienced, which was nice. It meant if she made a mistake he should be able to cover for her. Not that she was intending on making any mistakes to begin with. It's just...sometimes the unpredictable happens.

[break][break] As Silverio went over what their mission was Juliana just nodded silently along. Sanguine hues stayed locked on him while he spoke, letting him know that he had her full and undivided attention. The arctic winds blew harshly and caused Juliana to pull her coat tighter around herself.

[break][break] Since she was still going through the onboarding process she hadn't received a uniform of her own yet, so she had to make do with what she packed with her, which was fine. She was used to the snow by now but she always preferred warmth over sheer cold.

[break][break] Silverio's sudden question caught Juliana off guard as her facial expression shifted from calm to panic. She quickly fumbled through her pockets as she attempted to pull her phone out quickly. However the more she struggled the longer it took. She couldn't help but feel like he must think she looked like an idiot.

[break][break] Once she finally had the phone in her hand she attempted to speedily type a response but with her thick mittens on it proved to be more difficult than she would've originally thought. She had half a mind to just give up and respond with gestures instead but she figured that wouldn't be good enough.

[break][break] It was times like this she wished she didn't get all clammy and lose her voice at just the thought of speaking. It would seem her trauma was still evident despite all the time that had passed.

[break][break] After a few bumbling moments, Juliana finally managed to type out a proper response to Silverio. With a bright flush decorating her cheeks she quickly flipped the phone around to so the screen could face him.
