She developed a fiery and somewhat spoiled personality from this, and became known in her social circles for her outgoing nature and good looks. In her early teens, she even began a promising athletic career as a student acrobat.[break][break] Then Team Rocket attacked Kanto. [break][break] Carina can split her life into before and after she became a refugee. She and several other children were forced to flee across the border to Johto – her parents were not so lucky, and she never heard from them again. As a grown woman, she learned that they were among the confirmed casualties of the Rocket offensive. [break][break] Although she eventually found a well-off foster home in Unova, she never forgot the loss she suffered the day Kanto fell to the Rockets. She trained her body and mind for a new, darker purpose: revenge.[break][break] Now, Carina juggles a facsimile of her extroverted pre-refugee personality with the angry and obsessive adult that her trauma has made her become. She drinks frequently when off-duty and is unable to hold a date, not for lack of attention but because she’s too afraid to get close to someone again.
