She's heard a few things about him; his reputation both good and bad. Still, this is business. She must leave the bias asides so that they may work together. Daphne leans forwards to straighten herself up in her seat once she hears the knocking. Left leg crossed over the other, with her hands resting against the surface of the desk. Her fingers tent against each other and with a simple "Enter." she sees his figure approaching the burgundy desk. [break][break]

He is greeted with stoicism; almost cold. She puts in slight effort to hide distaste when she motions to a chair across the desk from her. "Good afternoon, Mr. Silph." She motions to the chair opposite of her. "Take a seat." Her words were as flat as her empty expression.

She hates this. [break][break]

She didn't want anything to do with this business rivalry; she never wanted anything to do with this. Yet, with her brother's absence, she was suddenly thrown into the position with little more than a letter, a phone call, or an e-mail. In spite of her ability to situate herself in this new position quickly, she can't help but to be slightly discomforted or even spiteful towards the brother who left so suddenly. Her presence in the company was scarce - she's aware - but she'd, at the very least, would like to know why her brother would leave so suddenly. [break][break]

The feud suffocated her, almost as much as the stagnant air in her office did. Windows were always kept open, but she'd miss the coziness of her little clinical office. Yet, she couldn't bring herself to turn down the position; this was her family, and she had both an obligation and desire for the corporation to thrive-- Even if she contributed so little in the past. In spite of this, the corporation did well under her supervision; quality nor production nor research were lacking. She could meet with others, and she had in the past. Many who attempted to use her for profit, or take advantage of what they assumed to be a sprout in business. To their dismay, she was thoroughly exposed to the shark waters of society from young, even if she had little chance to participate. Call it delayed imitation from watching in the background. And now, she had to meet with one of the Silphs. [break][break]

She's nervous, but she can't show it. She knows it improper and uncouth. Take deep breaths, in spite of the pit in her stomach and the slight, malicious bias that festers in her heart. It was a complex feeling; did she hold any personal grudge against the man she was to meet? No, she coudn't dislike a man before speaking to him. Yet, there was something about the Silph name that sparked both animosity and hostility. She couldn't put her finger on it (and for this unreasonable dislike, she feels shame). [break][break]

She doesn't know what to expect. [break][break]

Her back presses against the chair, and she sighs. Sooner was better than later, and she wasn't intending to keep a Silph for longer than they should be. She presses a button the phone and, though hesitant, speaks to the desk "Call Mr. Silph up". One of the women raises from the desk, now walking to the man with the intention to escort him to the office. [break][break]

Now she waits.

They were both at a loss. [break][break]

But she needed to make the most of this experience.. Somehow. Frankly, she knew nothing about romance or.. Dating, or any of the sort (which is probably why she was set up in the first place, much to her chagrin). His attempt at humour brought a small smile to her lips, accompanied by a soft giggle as she picks up the menu. As she expected.. To think that her mother would arrange such a high end and expensive place. She knows that @devon always enjoyed more extravagant tastes and.. Higher end delicacies, but.. She genuinely didn't think any of this was necessary. [break][break]

It made her feel more awkward, but she knows her mother only had the best in mind for her little girl. [break]
Gods, even thinking that to herself made her want to crawl and hide in a hole in the corner. [break][break]

To answer his question (more so to fill any silence) she begins to ponder his question. Anything that she.. Liked? "Well.." She starts, as she begins to quietly skim the menu ".. Mmn. Medicine, history and the like. I was actually a doctor before I was pushed back into the family busi--" she cuts herself off, and narrows her eyes. Great, talk about your family and their business on the first date. Wouldn't that have come off as egotistical? Surely, there were other things to talk about (she was pathetic that way; overthinking then never when her mind lagged behind her tongue). She clears her throat. [break][break]

Another look at the menu and she can feel herself internally sigh. She knows that this outing was already paid for by her mother, but still, she hopes that she could pick something that could shave off the check. Unfortunately, everything on the menu looked like it was going to be a.. Doozy. After a bit of contemplation, she puts the menu against the table. "I'll be having steak and wine." She says, then glances up to him. [break][break]

".. And you? Is there anything you like, in particular?" She attempts to carry on the conversation.

She was famished. [break][break]

Her schedule was working; work, work, work-- She was getting sick and tired of the same old, boring schedule every single waking moment of her life. Since her brother's disappearance, she felt the pressuring gazes around the company. She could feel the gazes of other business partners (daggers that pierced her, as cruel and as heartless as she remembers) and the approaching dread that came with coming face to face with another one of her employees. It never sat well with her; this was originally hers. It was, originally, supposed to be hers by right and by age until it was snatched and stolen (but she was no better, running to hide after the other took her burdens). How cruel a sister she was. [break][break]

No matter how much she complains, she knows that it won't pull her brother out of hiding - wherever he had gone. Nevertheless, she works. She works as hard as she can, each and everyday, even when it's against her will. She groans. She wanted to go home after a long day, after the work had stacked up. In spite of how much she generally complained and wheezed, she was still productive and diligent. Despite the glares and the expectations, she met them (but she was never good enough; her mind refuses to conjure any other belief).[break][break]

She walks out of the sliding doors, waving off to the few people standing by the reception. She wasn't one of the last people to leave, but she most certainly wasn't the first. Tonight happened to be a night where she was working late, and now it was the dead of the night. As a result, she didn't see any vehicles clearly from where she stood - not like she'd care, anyways. Her own car wasn't too far from the headquarters, but she always felt that same dread. [break][break]

She sighs softly; was she just overthinking it? That was most likely the case. [break][break]

Oh, how wrong she was.

She never actually came to sootopolis before. [break][break]

But there was a first time for everything, right? She needed to get out, anyways, and learn more about hoenn. It was.. embarrassing to admit that she knew little of her home region; especially when she was raised on the geography of the region, to begin with. She knew little about the history, the people, etc despite growing up here; it was disgraceful of her. At the very least, it was better later than never. She had taken some time in the libraries to do a bit of reading and, despite the league members guarding the cave of origin. It'd go without saying that she wouldn't be able to enter.. Right? [break][break]

... She didn't know what was worse. [break][break]

The fact that she didn't know how to properly ask, or the fact that she didn't know if she had to ask? She'd think the former, if she didn't hole herself up like the hermit she was. She glances over at the entrance, pensively staring. The debate was clear on her face, no matter how much she tried to hide it under the cold exterior. Ah.. What should she do? She felt like she was wandering in circles, in front of it. She didn't even know where to begin..

She knew this was a bad idea. She knew that she shouldn't have gone along with this. What was she going to say? Who was she set up with? Why on earth did she agree to her mother, who seemed more than intent to fill whatever void had been left behind by her little sister? (To please her; she can't bear the guilt of watching her mother cry after the loss of her husband and disappearance of her youngest children). She ended up waiting at the table for a little bit and - before the water could even get there to satisfy her parched throat - there came a person, approaching her at the table. Deep, turquoise eyes glance up to the man who pulled the seat across from her. [break][break]

Oh, gods. There he was. What was she supposed to say? She'd never been on a legitimate date (save for that time back in high school, but we don't talk about that), so she was at a loss. Thankfully, she didn't have to; he took the initiative to speak up, first. "yes.." she trails off, slightly, once he enters her vision, properly. He looked.. Formal, summed up in one word. The kind of formal she was used to, seeing that she would have preferred to wear a suit (as she always did at meetings and at work). She was a little jealous, but slightly put aback. Because this was a date. [break][break]

God, was it a date. [break][break]

Clearing her throat (and her mind) she adjusts herself in her seat, and attempts a small smile (forced was never her forte; it offers a crack into her anxiety under the thin ice she's coated her heart in). "Daphne Stone. It's a pleasure, er.." she trails off once again. She should ask his name, should she not? But she feels it was rude, for him to know her name and yet for her to be clueless. The tradition of researching your partner had become so familiar to her, that simple interaction like this had her flabbergasted. [break][break]

Not that she would show it, of course.

Before she knew it, an abundance of water came pouring down, in addition to some rocks in hopes to contain the flames. [break][break]

In another attempt to help with the water, she pulls out the pokeball of her wailmer and throws it towards the other water pokemon. "Azurite, water spout." she commands, before sparing a glance at the other water type trainer. The white of her hair and the deep blue of her eyes; where had Daphne seen them before? She knows that, somewhere, she has seen them. She knows, for a fact, that she was familiar in some way; yet she couldn't put her finger on it. Perhaps it was through a previous encounter? In passing? No, she felt like it was more than that and less than that all the same. [break][break]

The crowds of the people, both fleeing and screaming had calmed down with the woman showcasing her abundance of water and control over the fire. Needless to say, Daphne was thoroughly impressed. The woman offers a slight and hesitant smile, while her own pokemon were assisting the best they can (even if, in her opinion, her effort paled in comparison). Give or take a few moments, and the face and voice click in her head. [break][break]

More importantly, she may be someone who knew about her brother's disappearance from Hoenn. [break][break]

But questions like what would have to wait; it wasn't the time for that. She offers Olivia a soft and grateful smile. "Thank you," she starts, before putting her hands against her lap, and bows her head slightly. Call it a habit she picked up while in johto. "You really saved us. You are.. Olivia, if I recall?"

It doesn't take long for her to find a pokemon - a very pink one, at that. She can't help but to wonder if pink pokemon seemed to enjoy flocking her - or was she just that oblivious? [break][break]

Regardless, the wigglytuff seemed to be pigging out on berries for itself. Curious, but nevertheless she shrugs her shoulders and intended to leave without kicking up any trouble. From the corner of her eye, however, she could see a few smaller pokemon, unable to eat their berries due to a big bad wigglytuff blocking the way. Though she hadn't intended to interfere, she found it difficult to just.. Step to the side without doing anything. With a soft sigh in defeat, she points to the pokemon with her pachirisu. "Nuzzle." is all she says, before the tiny squirrel runs up and does its little electric nuzz nuzz. [break][break]

With the pokemon paralyzed, she casually tosses a pokeball at the giant pink marshmallow. After a few times, the pokeball clicks shut, and the rest of the pokemon were able to go over and retrieve the berries that were taken from them. [break][break]

She picks up the pokeball, and lets out a tired heave. "... I'm done. I'm tired." she says, to no one in particular as she begins to walk back.
