II. NAVEL ROCK TOWER RAID

sluggish, tense, and unknowingly bothered. these were the things kim felt as he walked about the tower, it’s layout awkward and unpleasant.

while eager to take on this mission at first, the steam that had once pushed him before had worn itself thin, the countless trials previously laid on him now taking their toll; fatigue from said task effectively burning him out. he grew more and more tired with each step he took, and he’s hardly begun to delve into the tower.

when fire broke out, he was quick to act, sending out a lumineon, the command, “make it rain.” uttered from his lips quickly as he rolled his arm. there was little he could do about the smoke, but he could at least stop the fire from spreading any further.

as the lumineon brought down the rain kim would walk forward, covering his face with his sleeve as he caught up with the group, making sure there were no stragglers left behind before he did.

the battle drew to a close and with it so would his need for the various pokemon strewn about.

returning the volcarona as well as the teddiursa to their balls, he’d urge the kirlia and gothorita to assist him with the unconscious, tossing an empty ball at the fainted abomasnow. once they had gotten to a pokemon center he planned to heal it up, possibly passing it to another down the line when he had the time.

but for the time being he’d hoist someone over his shoulder, the gothorita and kirlia levitating the rest with psychic as they walked forward, a porygon pointing them to the nearest village.

“if you can get back on your own go on ahead, but if you can’t then keep up. i need to get these people out of the snow as soon as possible and could use a hand; if you continue to offer one that is.”

kim’s words came out quick, any thanks kept to himself until they were out of this snow and the unfortunate victims of this attack were safe and sound.

floating above idly, the volcarona would look down to the abomasnow, it’s lensed eyes focusing on it’s target. the teddiursa, urged to follow in the volcarona’s direction, would watch the scene itself, silently taking in the situation while awaiting kim.

meanwhile, kim himself was on the move, sliding down the slope as quickly as gravity would allow him; the lavender haired man spotted quickly. the many physical characteristics of himself contrasted with the white background, making stealth an invalid option from the beginning, but he had never meant to make himself unknown in the first place.

the avalanche would commence, a decisive motion from kim drawing two pokeballs from his belt, releasing two pokemon- a kirlia and gothorita- to hold the avalanche off with psychic; their combined power slowed the surging snow enough for the councilmember to make his way towards the ice type as safely as he could.

moving in on his target, the volcarona swept down to his side. a whirlwind pushing the abomasnow back, the move used as a warning for the pokemon to stand down.

but as the cliche goes, it did not.

instead, it blew a cold win, blizzard threatening to freeze him and the unfortunate victims caught in its crossfire. the volcarona would push back, a heat wave intertwining with the cold wind, a stalemate in power forcing them at a standstill.

her confusion sparked his own, the lifted brow and tilted head almost urging him to do the same. it seemed the two were not on the greatest terms in correlation to siblings.

he’s not stupid enough to rule this out as a factor though. people have different backgrounds, ones they would rather keep to themselves rather than share with others.

you can know someone without knowing who they truly are, but that was not something kim aimed to do. if this man had set his sights on you, he would get to know you, by any means possible; he was nosy by nature.

all he had to do was slowly weave his way into your heart, and any information that he wanted to gather would be his. that’s the way he would normally operate.

but stormy only made him feel pity. pity for someone he doesn’t know- a rare occurrence on his part.

so instead of prying, he’d simply leave it as it lay, the underlying thought of gathering information still pushing at the back of his mind; at this moment, his aim was simply to make a new friend.

kim would simply nod, his quite kept as he leaned back further in his chair. he did not make a comment at how hastily she had left, but was sure to take a mental note of how earnest she was in her endeavors.

he could only hope she kept this behavior up in the future, or at least did as good a job acting as he did.

from the corner of his eye he would spot another jynx joining the fray, and from that he had spotted stormy, the poor thing on the verge of freezing. it seemed that her litwick wasn’t enough to keep her warm in this weather.

moving through the jynx,- keeping with the flow of traffic- he would make his way over, leaning in for a whisper.

“glad to see you’re fine but… do you know what’s going on?”

as they neared the town, the jynx would stop walking and huddle up together, each speaking to each other in their own tongue before breaking the huddle with a loud “jynx!” their hands tossed in the air with the gifts in their grips.

after the sound off, they would quickly rush forward, splitting off to begin their missions; delivering gifts to each door in a ding-dong-ditch fashion.

unfortunately, they were not fast enough to escape the sight of people that were confused by what had been left on their doorsteps which made more than a few citizens angry. you’d be angry too if some rejected muppet left tattered rags with pine needles on your doorstep.

and this is where damage control came into play. it seemed that it was up to the two of them to sort out this situation before it became more violent than it already had, kim spotting a few people throwing the presents at the jynx that had been waddling off.

with a sigh, kim would look to stormy, taking off his coat and offering it to her before waving for her to follow.

“let’s not let their hard work go to waste, storms, we have some explaining to do.”

the lavender haired man would start to make his way around, explaining what the mess on their doorstep was a release a chubby teddiursa with its thicc winter coat released for the warmth his jacket once provided.

someone that could understand his ramblings, just his type. kim was ready to head off one more, but his sudden request for his name caught him off guard.

what was his name? he was kidding right? everyone and their mother in hoenn should who he is at this point by name and face the same. maybe he was new here, or maybe he didn’t keep up with social media or politics, whatever his reason was didn’t matter right now.

a smile would follow suit, the introduction of himself bland as he spoke quickly.

“nice to meet you amuro, i’m kim cole. i’m happy you decided to help me today.”

he’d nod at the houndoom, greeting the pup as well before starting to make haste forward.

“keep up with me, i think i have an idea whe-”

but before he could finish speaking the porygon would emerge from the phone, it’s digits swirling as it pointed towards the direction of the teddiursa.

his heart would skip a beat as a roar sounded not too far off from them, the snow lining trees above slowly dripping off from the reverb. kim would halt in place for a moment, holding his hand out towards to man behind for him to stop, letting the scenery settle before rushing off with the porygon leading.

“follow me or turn around, your choice!”

he’d shout not too loudly as he made way through the snow and towards the teddiursa.
