kim would be the first to clap, ushering the crowd to do the same, their responses mixed after the brazen speech.

as he steps where he stood once more, he’d chuckle, beginning to speak.

“thank you mr. valeria and mr. silph, for your wonderful introductions. we will no-”

kim begins to slur, everything goes white, he falls to the ground, foam coming from his mouth…. he’s dead.

when people go missing kim is sure to hop on it immediately. not too long ago he’d be telling himself that it was their problem and they could fix it themselves, but the sudden 180 in behavior was not one he himself shunned. he was quite grateful actually; it gave him the chance to always be in the spotlight.

but that wasn’t the state of mind he needed right now. he needed a heroic one, one that would give him the endurance necessary to brave this cold and find those gone missing.

time was of the essence, and with him quick to act, he was without a partner, so he’d make a quick stop at the nearest pokecenter and give a shout within.

“if there are any capable trainers, I need at least one of you to accompany me in finding some missing people!”

and with that exclamation, he was off, hoping someone would follow suit as he ventured into the cold.

Its hard to insult an ego as big as Kim's, what she said didn't even leave a scratch on his armor so rightfully named pride. But she seemed to be giving answers, and that was not a bad thing.

Holding back his smile he'd continue.

"What 'ego' I may have is put aside to unimpede my thought process. Do you think I would question you the way I do because I like doing so? No, it's because I don't want some hot headed person with their daddy's fortune think they can do what they want because they donated to a just cause."

"I want to trust that you are not like that, but you're only stating that you will help without giving any sort of backing to that claim. How can I trust you?"

She's cracking, he can see that. But does he stop? No.

The bigger picture here is far more than money can solve, and if she can only give money as her condolences, then he was less inclined to accept it.

"Then tell me, Miss Helena, what are you offering? Because right now the only thing thing I'm seeing on the table is money, not loyalty, not trust, not care that goes into this region or its people, but money and an ego that thinks it can solve everything."

Her words, as choppy and unthought out as they were, seemed to make some form of sense. But they lacked the power to move him as they should.

Was she just trying to feel good about herself again? Was this just some way for her to get some selfsatisfaction? Whatever it was, it was beyond him to comprehend a hidden meaning, if there was one. So he'd simply take her words at face value.

"Okay."

With the one worded response, their plates would arrive, the food sat down in front of him- heavenly in its aroma- left where it was, untouched as he began speaking one more.

"So you plan to help with money as your only value to this region?"

His words had a slight bitterness to them, the once smiling features of his face turning placid, the indifferent expression remaining as he slid his food to the side.

The fact she felt the need for others to do something which he personally invited her to do was not something he cared to think about too long.

He guessed it was just something people in her class did, not getting involved further than the negotiation aspect of the deal.

"It's your money Helena, do what you will with it. As long as these towns get what they deserve."

A brief pause in words left the silence to ruminate, mulling over what exactly to say before he began speaking, a sort of pained expression on his face as he did.

"I don't mean to be rude... but what do you expect to gain out of this? Is it simply to have your name out there or something more?"

If everything goes well? What did that mean? As much as the passing phrase irked him, he would keep quiet, instead thinking more positive thoughts.

"Ofcourse. I can always use a helping hand in the upkeep of these towns and the spending that goes towards them. Are you good with money management?"

If everything goes well- there it is again- they'd need budget the spending on each of these towns that Kim aims to fund. She might be good for money, but taking too much of it would be a problem.

the salute would be returned, two fingers bounding from his forehead quickly, the cheerful smile opening for a light chuckle.

“i understand your need for worry, not everyone is as trustworthy as their social persona’s make them out to be. a first meeting in a place with people around is better than one without.”

he’d sigh, leaning back in the chair with a final puff of air.

“truthfully i’m glad you requested this meeting. it’s been pretty busy for me lately and this is just the change of pace i needed before i went right back into a chaotic workload.”

it would also check her off a mental list he kept of the leaders he needed to converse with. she would be the first of many that he planned to have a 1-on-1 with of similar fashion.

“have you met with any other councilmembers or gym leaders yet?”

To blindly accept ones proposal when money is involved would be a bad step, especially when knowing nothing about who it is you're dealing with. He gave her props for thinking before giving a yes to his proposal.

His order would be a simple seafood scampi as well as a refill on his water which seemed to be running low.

"I respect that, but this is less of a government promise than it is one for the citizens. "

"I often find myself patrolling around the region and paying these smaller, less guarded towns a visit myself. There are capable trainers within them but since they are not seen as important as cities they do not get as much protection as one. That's why the least I would like to do for them is make their lives a little less stressful."

His body would relax as he leaned back a tad, sitting upright in his chair.

"I want to be able to pay to station league members in these towns- capable cadets mostly- as well as fund fixing up places within said towns. Public domains such as libraries, public clinics, housing, so on and so forth, these are what i aim to fund but unfortunately cannot. The league helps where they can, but certain things just can't fall on us. So that's where you come in."

He smiles, looking at the woman with a calm stare- his amber eyes piercing her golden hues.

"We consider your donations to these towns as such and use them to fund any acts that go towards the betterment of these resources."

Kim was not shy, so when an opportunity showed itself he would take it, uncaring for the thoughts that came afterwards. If the offer was on the table, he would be sure to take it was ease.

"I thought you'd never ask."

He'd say cheerily.

"You see, there are towns here and there in need of funding, something the citizens themselves can't exactly pay for. If you would be so kind, would you mind donating to the betterment of these settlements?"

He would like to fund these towns himself, but his money is far from enough to foot the bill of each of the various settlements and such that sprawled about the region.

As hers arrived so to would his, the water set onto the table with a light thank you given in response. A sip untaken prompted him to listen. Her words forcing the smile of his to remain.

"Casualty is my specialty, m'dear, and if you'd like that I'm happy to oblige."

Testing the waters, that's all he could do right now, see how far he can go before he has to turn back.

"Let me start off by saying that we are- in a way- in troubling times. We've yet to retake Slateport and our commissioner is still missing, as you might know."

Sipping from his glass, then promptly setting it back down, he'd lean onto the table.

"At the moment things have been calm, nothing too bad happening other than the usual crime here and there, but that can change easily. Rocket has a city, there's no telling how long that'll keep them busy, and it could be troubling if we have another situation like last with gym leaders not stepping up."

His smile would only grow more as she spoke, a water ordered for himself to ensure his lips stay sealed.

Even with everything he's learned, he still truly knows nothing about her.

"How personal might you be talking, miss? Because I'm all for informing the uninformed- I aim to please after all. But you should know just as well as anyone else that there are certain things even people in my position are told to keep quiet about."

The smile stayed firmly in place, his tone calm as the words carefully picked escaped his grinned lips.
