seconds ago, he was walking next to stormy and then she was replaced with a jynx, or… had she been turned into one?

“stormy?”

he’d ask the jyxn, it’s response being a- ‘jynx…’- pointing to herself before handing over the present.

it was… heavy? but also light? what it was exactly he couldn’t tell, but it just seemed like a present..

the jynx would begin to head off, walking through the snow as easily as one would concrete. kim, forced to follow, shouted after it.

“wait, where did you take her? where’s the one i was here with before you took her off?”

it would not respond, instead keeping its pace, slowly making its way towards what could only be described as a horde of jynx, all slowly lurching to the town. within their hands were gifts, each poorly wrapped with different fabrics.

he was at an impasse on whether to stop them or not, so instead, he’d simply walk alongside them, intermingling with the crowd- the gift already given to him in hand as he did. he will become one with the jynx and determine their intent when he got to town.

A meeteing planned ahead of time was what prompted him here, someone of great importance to the league and maybe even hoenn. Possibly.

Kim knows nothing of her other than what he's been told, and what he's been told is that she's rich. Well, that's all he really payed attention to at least. There were other things that were said, but right now funding was needed here and there and he knew it. He could get something out of her if this meeting went right.

From a distance he saw her- the physical description matching the one that met his amber hues- a smile appearing on his face as he approached, hand extending to her before taking a seat.

"Kim Cole. You're Helena, correct?"

between sentences he’d shift slightly, the relaxed position previously sat in adjusting upwards, his attention fully on her has she spoke. he couldn’t help the smile that grew on his face this smile- unlike the people pleaser that had rooted itself in place- was one of genuine happiness for his peer, its sincere nature vivid on his features.

“to have those that would once oppose you now call you friend is a great feeling, isn’t it?”

“and while i am happy to hear that you have defenses at the ready to hold petalburg, i want you to make sure your citizens are safe and happy more than anything. i’d like to touch up on a few things with you in private. somewhere less open than a coffee shop would be ideal since what i have to say is not something to be talked about in public.”

he knew all too well of the ears in the wall, and he was not about to risk saying something risky in their vicinity.

“overall, we aim to keep the citizens safe, and if you have the choice of stopping a rocket underboss or saving a citizen, you save the citizen. we will always have opportunities to apprehend rockets, but never another opportunity to save that person’s life.”

he figured she understood that- she seemed like a good woman- but from what he’s seen previously, people are more concerned about stopping the bad guy than helping those hurt in the process of their mayhem.

quickly rushing up to the bird with a smile, he’d stop in front of it, pulling out a phone then picking up his gothorita in his arm. the psychic type would quickly float the two of them up to eye level with the articuno.

“smile!"

he’d say quickly, angling the three of them into the frame perfectly and snapping a selfie with the legendary bird; before having the gothorita float the two for them back down.

“thanks for the new screensaver, m’dear, and good luck finding an avatar.”

and with that he’d return to his previous engagement with whom he put on hold.

“yes, us pretty faces have a thought every once in a blue moon.”

he opted to ignore the coffee prod, instead acting on her other, more gratifying, words instead.

he thought nothing of stealing her coffee, after all, she seemed to be getting restless and coffee was not good for the nerves. really, he was doing her a favor by drinking the rest of it. a favor that was quickly negated by ordering yet another cup of coffee for her. he didn’t want to ruffle her feathers any more than he already did, but it seemed the damage was already done.

some people can be so petty.

“i have a question for you if you don’t mind me asking.”

and if she did, he would pay no mind to it, he was curious so he continued on anyways.

“you are petalburg’s gym leader, right? tell me, how are you treating them? and a follow up question, how do they treat you?”

a long gulp taken from his tea would silence him, her answer awaited with a calm smile as he sat the finished cup down with a smile

“i’d say, considering where we are, jynx would be either deeper in the forest or in a cave somewhere. right now we’re headed for the nearest cave i can recall, which is more of a deep alcove really.”

the light stemming from the litwick forced him to take another look back to her, a smile appearing on his face at her words and continued care of the litwick.

“it makes me happy to hear you speak like that. your brother, FERNANDO SILPH, doesn’t seem to care for pokemon much, but you prove to not inherit that way of thinking. i think that’s part of the reason i like you so much.”

from the interactions he’s had with the two of them so far as well as the intel he has gathered, what it would take to compare the two of them was a lot of thought. they may have the same surname but they were indeed not cut from the same cloth. from his experience, she was more compatible with him than the aforementioned silph

he gave a quick shiver, falling back to stand next to the girl for warmth; leaning in a little closer. as they walked he’d think to himself how nice it would be to sit at home with a nice cup of cocoa, with his pokemon by his side. surely it would be better than pushing through the snow as he currently did.

but a sudden shift in the air would quell his train of thought, a snowstorm overcoming the two suddenly, blinding them within the storm.

as the icy winds pushed at the two, kim would quickly grab hold of stormy, arms locking around the girl, careful to keep her by his side. but as quickly as it came, the storm settled, confusion visible on his face.

“what the hell was-”

looking over at his companion he’d see her replaced with a jynx, its purple face blushing with a poorly wrapped gift in hand. the one he once clung to for safety was now nowhere in sight.

his smile would spread a little wider a sip promptly taken to sip his tea.

“thank you for understanding.”

“my suggestion would be to give all of your peers a line to give their suggestions. understand that when under pressure, people are not the best to make decisions, so putting everyone together in a big room and forcing them to think isn’t the right way to go about it. being who we are, thoughts of what can be done better come and go with each step we take and with something happening every minute those thoughts can be easily lost as we work. the easiest way we can have them known is with a league suggestion box.”

he’d give her a moment to soak the idea in before expanding on it.

“what i mean is, we all have phones, right? create a quick and easy email, group chat, board, whatever; for everyone to forward their suggestions to while they’re on the move. something open for everyone to see and either expand upon or agree with. we need convenience more than anything else right now.”

guess it would be a given that siblings would keep each other updated on such things, maybe the two of them were close, maybe otherside, it has yet to be seen and he is in no position to oppose, his knowledge of the two is limited.

though before he could continue, stormy had already moved off on her own, her fascination set on a chansey who was as helpful as she was cute. the sight of the interaction between stormy and the round pokemon was somewhat stunning.

while his expectations of her were somewhat low from the beginning, the sensitive side she had shown to the chansey caught him a little off guard. even with the bite towards hoenn’s citizens her cute side shone brilliantly.

those honeyed words spurred something within him to recoil; thoughts of how he could use her turned into how he can befriend her, something that happened far too often for his own good.

a burst of air shot from his mouth pushed lavender locks from his face, the resigned puff reminiscent of a sigh and forcing him to relax himself.

“miss stormy, because of the whole slateport fiasco, i’ll be working alongside your brother in terms of government authority; and i thought i should let you know that. but i don’t want my relationship with you to be one of senior and junior.”

a brief pause between words, his eyes wandering off slightly before he returned them to hers, his tone kind and clam with a smile just the same.

he knows not of their relationship, and has no prior experience of such connections to properly judge how families interact, but usually they tend to not hate each other as the silph’s do one another.

gentle breaths, the heat visible in the air, strided from his mouth, words calmly spoken to the girl with a wave to follow.

“right now we have to find the jynx.”

heavy footprints left in the faux snow, the markings of his shoes firmly imprinted with each trudge, left their markings as he moved.

“as league members, it’s our job to ensure the safety of hoenn’s citizens as well as its pokemon. we have to evaluate them and if they are a threat, we deal with them as quickly and efficiently as we can; hopefully calming them down. and if otherwise, they we try to find what it is they want and deal with it accordingly.”

a quick sigh followed by a peek behind him to ensure she followed would stop his speaking, continuing once he confirmed her location.

“i hope you don’t get cold easily or at least you bought a fire type, it’s probably gonna be a bit of a walk until we find something.”

thankfully they had no qualms him him going first. good. the first thing people needed to see was him, they’d be doing a lot of that in the future anyways.

once their cue to move onto the stage sounded, kim would give a light sigh, his feet slowly moving forward, amber eyes looking to fernando, their gaze slightly blinded by lavender strands.

“a part of making sure hoenn doesn’t fall is keeping the people at ease, making them docile. while it may not take priority for you, mr. silph, it would be in our favor that they do in fact favor us.”

one last word of advice before moving on stage, and once the light shone on his face, his lips curled up, a soft smile taking hold as it naturally did. a hand waving at the cheering masses moved with the man as he approached the stand.

quickly clearing his throat away from the mic, he’d look forward, a calm voice cascading from his throat and into the mic; the soothing tone chosen to keep the masses unintimidated and tranquil.

“god day citizens of hoenn. i thank you for your kindness in allowing us to be the figureheads in such times. i know each and everyone of you are looking for answers to questions we may or may not be able to answer, but please allow us to introduce ourselves first and foremost.”

a second of silence would allow him the chance to catch his breath, continuing promptly after the quick rest.

“as many of you know, i am kim cole, and currently, i am acting in commissioner goode’s place in sending cadets and veterans alike to your location or others to provide assistance. in other words, I am managing missions and league request alike. along with such commands i will be the representative for the league… for the time being.”

“i do not intend to let my words woo you over, my actions have and will continue to grant me your favor, so, i will now let my coworkers introduce themselves.”

a few steps taken to the side, away from the mic, would signal for gilbert to make himself known.

his heart skipped a beat as amber eyes gazed at the scene before him. the beauty of alolan ninetales as they moved gracefully through the snow capturing him in their icy grasp with each graceful step they took forward, it was enchanting.

the gawking, with mouth agape, would stop quickly as he felt compelled to follow, his heart dead set on having one for himself, but his mind telling him to keep them out of harm's way.

conflicted, his feelings were, thoughts on par with capturing them and return them to their proper region or leave them and let them be free intertwining with one another, jumbling into a mess.

before he could even come to a conclusion, his body was already moving, a fridgid hand letting loose a pokeball as he gave an underhand toss towards the group.

“shit…”

he’d whisper under his breath.

the skitty returned, white hair mixed with its own pink pigmented fur. as it climbed kim's leg, laying over his shoulder. he would give it a pet, bits of the white hair rubbing off on his hand in the process.
