"but first!" she hops from rock to rock until she reaches the pokemon. there is no mistaking it; such a color could be nothing but a goomy. "what would you be doing here, baby?" or a sliggo, as it turns out. mimi notices a particularly erratic tremble to it, and a mix of mud and slime pooling underneath it. she would try to extend a hand towards it for a pat, if not for the corrosive nature of its slime. instead, she opens a small case full of pokeblocks, ever present on her belt pouch, and lets two drop on the general direction of its mouth.

more pokeblocks act as lure. soon enough, the sliggo has consumed half the contents of her case. the next item she offers is a pokeball to take it in.

"i might need to go shopping for chemical-resistant gloves in lilycove. now, where is that yacht of yours?"

[attr="class","mimi"]with the whole deal about the insufferable heat out of the way, mimi has a chance to take a good look at the two new additions to her team. they both steal glances at shifu, the drampa. if she were to put a name on it, she'd call them sparkly-eyed and awestruck. it's kind of cute.

"right, i should give you two names. otherwise, things will get confusing pretty quick." mimi puts a pensive finger on her chin, an extravagant act that wasn't needed because she already knew the perfect names for them. "how about... daishixiong and ershijie, since you seem to look up to shifu so much?" she smiles, proud of her choices.

she's surprised by the pull, foreign and uncharacteristic coming from him. her eyes grow wide at the strange expression on his face, but understanding lies in the loss he's experienced too recently. "i'll be back soon," she says with a smile, touched by his worry. "you can start thinking about how you'll repay me for my help."

true to her word, mimi returns after only a few minutes. her back is sore from a strike she took from a sneaky tentacle, but she's neither bleeding nor missing any limb. though, she does have some ink sticking to her hair and her hands. not bad, all things considered. on her way back, she could see the feraligatr from before chasing after lance's mantyke with a pair of hydro pumps. they emit enough force to shift the underwater currents. she leaves her garchomp to aid her while mimi herself swims up to the boat.

having had time to think about their priorities, the first thing she says is "we need to get you to a hospital."

[attr="class","mimi"]she can't believe the cheek of this man. actually, she can. she's endured him for too many years to pretend not to know. "yes, yes, and that's why you had magmortar use a powered-up flamethrower on charizard's smokescreen." her rebuttal makes her expression more woeful than staying silent would have. "they deducted the repair costs and contingency fees from my paycheck."

in the end, though, the monetary losses were just that. she can't quite remember why she'd been so upset at the time. maybe she wanted to buy something? all irrelevant now.

her eyes perk up at the mention of a boat, and at the implication that lance had learned how to operate it. mimi herself could fly anywhere she wanted at any time, thanks to her pokemon, and she'd done so for a long, long time. "in other words, you have time for a quick 1v1." mimi looks around them, at the small patch of ground they had to support them. "probably not here, though. lilycove has a lot of open spaces fit for casual battles, right?"

she hums, before finally getting to the bottom of her proposal. "sailing does sound fun." a change would be nice.

[attr="class","mimi"]when mimi looks up, hours later, she can still see the sun burning brightly. honestly, she doesn't need to look up to know it is there. it's hot. it's hot even under the trees. it's hot because even the ground is hot. arceus, they need a dip in the cool, sparkling water. her pokemon agree. even the wild eiscue, may its head not melt under this sun, agrees. so that's what they do.

[attr="class","mimi"]despite lance himself not seeming to be in that bad a shape, mimi takes a moment to touch the back of her hand to his forehead. she knows full well a fever wouldn't develop until at least two to three days after an infection, if his wound had gotten infected, but the reassurance from physical contact is what she needs in that moment, as silly as it may sound if she were to say it out loud. once she's satisfied that lance is fine and won't faint without notice, she nods. she's okay too.

"a lot better than i was expecting," is her answer and, perhaps to his surprise, it's sincere. she's not talking about only the wound, either. with the amount of blood she'd seen, she was fearing the worst.

mimi's garchomp is called down to once again cut away at the harpoon with her fire fangs. without the drifting movements of the sea, she's able to make cleaner cuts, leaving only a shorter piece of metal stuck in his arm. to dress it, she rips pieces of her discarded pants. they don't have antiseptic on hand, or much of anything really, so she does what she can with what little they do have at the moment.

while she works on wrapping the cloth around his arm, she briefs him on her plan. "i'm going back down to deal with the tentacruel. you stay here."

[attr="class","mimi"]somehow, she expects the answer, but his taunt has her focusing on a different matter. she shakes her head, amused. "you sound very confident for someone with only a 50/50 winning streak against me." then again, those fifty he'd won were mimi's losses, which doesn't paint her very well in front of sponsors. and actually– she falters, memories of smoke and debris clouding her mind. "okay, technically, 48/48. one i didn't count, since we ended up destroying the venue..."

mimi sighs at the mere memory.

"at any rate. since you're all the way here, can i assume you're on your way to a mission? on the way back?"

[attr="class","mimi"]having already eaten a snack, the male dratini mimi had just caught isn't hungry by the time small party reach the cascades. he still helps with berry picking for their lunch, mind you. he's just very excited to have a human help him train and do all the things that trainers are supposed to do. like the agility training that they've started, for example, using only what nature (or the safari wardens, rather) had to offer.

mimi follows him as he jumps over rocks and slithers around tree stumps. he's a little clumsy at first, but she encourages him each time he makes a mistake. soon enough, he's managed to complete the makeshift course in... a decent time, at least. he's in fact just completed one last round when they notice a second dratini standing by their start line.

the wild dratini is much more agile than him, and that motivates him to try even harder. he goes back, passes by the other dratini, and begins a race that continues once and twice and thrice. at some point, mimi decides to leave the dratinis be. she walks over to her drampa, watching the scene from the comfort of a tree's shadow, and together they eat some berries. the sweet taste of pecha berries fills her mouth.

when the two dratinis finally stop, exhausted but satisfied with their results, mimi extends a hand to the wild dratini and asks, "do you want to join us too?"

[attr="class","mimi"]where pacifidlog was quiet and comfort, slateport beach is everything she'd expect from a summer vacation. golden sands like she's only seen in ads, sparkling waters that make other beaches pale in comparison, a bar filled with fun-looking cocktails, and even a fire show. mimi couldn't simply watch over it from the beach house she'd rented; she had to come down and experience it for herself.

she doesn't stop to look for anyone in the crowd. the only problem with this party? she doesn't know anybody. that poppin' pachirisu float is begging for her attention though, and she has no reason not to answer its call. she hangs back by the bar, watching the performances of both professionals and first-timers with a smile.

perhaps she'd meet someone today. for now, she's happy to enjoy the show.
