[attr="class","cmonbody"]Dallas wasn’t quite sure how he had ended up here. Out in the woods, near the base of Mt. Pyre after the disastrous events at Slateport. All the efforts he made at that train station were for nothing. He had helped people, yes, but not enough. The worst part was, that in the grand scheme of things, the train station evacuation had been one of the more successful parts of that invasion for the League. Not that that said much.

“What do you think, buddy?” Dallas wasn’t even sure what he was asking about, neither did his newly evolved Slowbro as it responded with a confused face. “Never mind.” He just wanted to fill the silence but it was pointless.

“We should probably start heading back to Mauville. Make sure it’s not been invaded as well." Dallas re-adjusted the sling that held his arm in the place before beginning to head back, Slowbro following behind with silent concern for its trainer.

[attr="class","cmonbody"]Bom found himself having to be the eyes and ears of this journey, with his owner tuned out from the world as they began their walk back to Mauville. The sun was beginning to set, and with it came the more aggressive Pokémon coming out. Whether it was for food or just a good old-fashioned fight. The first of them being a Haunter, appearing from the shadows with a wicked grin. One of its floating hands eagerly stretching out to grab Dallas.

The Slowbro didn’t wait for orders. Only letting out a small shout as a warning before flying into battle. A glowing energy at the top of the Slowbro’s head as it crashed into the Haunter with a Zen Headbutt.

The Ghost Pokémon recoiled in pain as it quickly responded with Payback. A wave of jet-black energy firing from its body and sending the Psychic-type flying back. It was only by then Dallas had managed to turn around and process the situation.

“Bom-“ Dazed and confused, the man couldn’t keep up with his own Pokémon. A Slowbro of all things, as it continued to fight on. Crushing the Haunter into the ground with Psychic then continuing the assault with an Ice Beam.

With his one good arm, Dallas found himself reaching for a Pokeball. Why, Dallas wasn’t sure. The whole day had gone by in a blur, never mind the very brief he’d mostly missed right behind him. At least it had snapped himself out of his brooding.

The Pokeball began to rock as the Haunter was captured in it. Bom gave his trainer a look of surprise. The ghost had tried to jump Dallas after all. The blond couldn’t help but notice the more confused than usual Slowbro.

“The more Pokémon I have, the less likely I’ll fuck up like last time, right?” He asked the Slowbro. Bom remained silent.
