elusive and uncaring, FERNANDO SILPH is a hard man to find. without the proper resources that a normal individual lacked, tracking the silph heir would have been near impossible. thankfully, devon's resources and influence aren't hindered by international borders.

"can you sense anything?"

gallade cannot. even in a war-ridden city, saffron is far too big for them to realistically find him given the time constraints. they have to remain hidden because while the majority of the forces have moved on, some rockets still linger as they celebrate their victory.

tugging at the bag straps around his shoulders, he peers around the corner, towards north where a large, familiar building once stood. but silph co. is no more.

"we need to find him."

and with that, alexander places a hand on gallade's shoulder and allows TELEPORT to take them away in hopes of finding the silph heir; dead or alive, he's not too sure.

the aftermath leaves everything convoluted. from the wreckage, from the filth, is nothing but dirt and years of progress left in shambles. the gallade cannot pick up on everything because everything intertwined. the remnants of fernando's essence is besmirched by the blood shed by hundreds of lives. it paints the area in a bleak atmosphere, muddling out any psychic interference. what's left is the anguish, the resentment, the fear and hatred that perseveres through the chaos that unfolds.

the farther they get away from silph co.'s vicinity the more pronounced the sensation. a faint sense of satisfaction tugs at the gallade, it's faint but grows into being a gnawing feeling that screams of a lead. the source is from the pokemon center but whatever it is, it's inorganic. it's not alive. still, it's the best and only lead that the gallade will be able to pick up on.

the area is plagued by the absence of life; one moment there's nothing, and the next, from within a rip in time and space, comes salvation for the silph family.

"what is it?"

up ahead, through the cloud of dust that lingers in the vicinity, is the pokemon center, or what's left of it. there's no need for gallade to respond, not when the two are in sync. the situation is immediately understood.

they start making their approach, careful to keep themselves hidden. gallade leads but adheres to alexander's shift in positions when they near the center. with the devon heir ahead, he stands by the entrance of the center and pauses for a moment.

confident as he may be, this is a dangerous situation in which he's placed himself in. sighing softly, he nods once and enters the center.

what's left of the pokemon center is an empty husk that's filled with dust and dirt. it's a miracle that the structure's still standing. in these trying times, it's the only semblance of hope. the staff has long evacuated but the electricity and critical functions still remain. from among the wreckage, the gallade will be able to pinpoint a usb cover that's long been discarded. upon further investigation, the raised lettering reads property of silph co., manufactured in goldenrod.

it's not much of a clue but it's the only thing alexander has to go on. at least in saffron, what with all the disturbances and so on.

still standing, perhaps a beacon of hope in the midst of darkness, the pokemon center is where he finds his first and only lead. gallade trails closely behind, sword-arms at the ready.

all he finds is a usb cover. it's not much of a lead; it's not anything, really; but he'll take what he can get.

"is this it?" he holds it in between his fingers as he shows it to the psychic-type. a nod is given. equally perplexed, gallade isn't sure what aura it sensed.

the lettering reads goldenrod and that's where he'll go next after one final stop. but first, "destroy it."

he drops the usb cover on the ground and steps towards the exit but stops to watch gallade swipe forth with a sharp PSYCHO CUT.

if nothing comes from it, then they'll start their journey to the last stop in saffron: silph estate.

silph estate is untouched. the mansion's grounds are too far from the city to be caught up in the initial invasion. SILAS BLACKWELL is no idiot. their resources are dedicated to taking the city's critical infrastructure and the results show when the resistance is utterly crushed.

the expansive fence that surrounds the mansion is still standing. the main entrance is deserted but someone still has to open the gate. of course, there's other ways around. several small booths make up the entry point and several have the controls for opening the gate. naturally, they're all cleared by a key card.

for moments all feels still; he stands outside a familiar mansion that he's visited a few times when he was younger, much younger, when they were still children: ignorant and carefree, much like the world.

the change is drastic but real. he has long accepted it.

TELEPORT takes them past the fence and lands them right inside the mansion, bypassing the layers of security.

their presence interrupts the peace of quiet; dust ripples off the ground, practically shaking as alexander steps forward. it doesn't look like anyone's been here for a while.

he takes his time to admire the photos that sit idle on the shelves, feeling a sudden wave of nostalgia overcome him. those were simpler times.

in the coming weeks to the invasion, silph co. had been uncharacteristically busy. development on their newest project, a pokeball that could capture any pokemon, had taken priority - to the extent that mister silph had invested into actually living in the office.

what alexander explores is a mansion that's been abandoned, if only temporarily. numerous pictures of the family lines the walls and shelves, many of fernando as a child. there's a noticeable gap in his age, with more modern ones sparse among them. strange enough, there are pictures of the silphs with other children. there's rarely a personal picture of just the child or the child with the silphs, but many of them as a group.

Stormy Silph . angel s. rivera . evelyn silph . alexander silph .

they're the children that were adopted to replace fernando. the pictures also stop at a certain point, with no recent ones. there's no reason to. the prodigal son had returned, for a time.

alexander had TELEPORTED into the main dining room which is composed of a long hallway with an equally large table that sits more then it should. one door leads to the kitchen while the other leads to the foyer. there's always the option of TELEPORTING again. ultimately, it's up to him where he wants to search.

alexander searches upstairs, where the bedrooms are. he inspects each room, sweeping them for every bit of detail that might help him locate the silph boy.

fernando's is the last room he searches. this is what remains of the silph boy's innocence. alexander looks for the secrets the room holds.

but he does not dare look under the bed, afraid of finding secrets too damp even for him.

the rooms are similar in design, each one build the same but tailored with the minor details that differentiate their respective owners. angel s. rivera 's room is a stark contrast to evelyn silph 's. it is fernando's that's the most plain, untouched. it bares the bare minimum and looks rarely used.

the gallade may be able to pick up some vague essence of his presence but it's long gone. what lingers is just the psychic version of a scent.

in the pursuit of fernando's there's no obvious clue in any of the personal rooms of him or his adopted siblings. Stormy Silph 's may hold some secrets but none of them pertain to fernando.

nothing remains of fernando but a psychic scent that gallade picks up on. it's not much but it's a lead they can and will follow. but for now, he takes his time and appreciates his surroundings.

he stands in a room, in a mansion that once held so much life; rich and vivacious broken down into mere scraps of nothingness. it's melancholic. it's nostalgic. and yet, he cannot part with it just yet.

Stormy Silph's room contains a small castform plushie, one he remembers from when they were younger. he takes it with him as he makes his journey towards his last stop, which is where gallade's lead takes them:

there's no factory that outright belongs to silph co. yet, with proper research, it becomes evident that many of silph co's products and supplies come from several factories. like most businesses, supplies come from a wholesale provider and that's where silph co. gets their flashdrives. untouched by rocket's invasion, all of them are open and operating as per usual.
