Now this was something he could sink his teeth into, quite literally.

The only other question he had in his mind, though: why the fuck did it have to be so far away?!

Approaching from Slateport was a bad idea because of the waves, so the next best thing was to come from the air—and that’s what he did. Barely a few moments had passed since he landed from flying astride Ro’s back (who knew flying via Air Metagross was fuckin’ insane) he was suddenly rushed by panicking townspeople who were trying to keep their balance as best as they could on the creaky, shaking platforms—and it was here he saw the sight of a dark red staining the water not too far away from the edges of the town.

“Please, you’ve got to help us!” one of the townspeople cried, pulling him by the sleeve and pointing out over the water. “There’re these weird… we don’t know what they’re called but the Corsola holding up the town are—“ she tried to explain, before another tremble rippled through the water, throwing the rest of the people that hadn’t collapsed from the surprise into a sheer panic.

More red began to spread out from the place that had been pointed out to him, and he nodded grimly.

“Get rid of them?” was all he said, reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out another Pokéball, preparing to toss it forward.

“Just keep the Corsola safe! If they collapse, the town will get swallowed by the waves!” came the worried shout of the one who’d approached him earlier, bolting off across the unsteady platforms in order to help some of the older townspeople get to relative safety.

Shit, this looked more serious than what was being let on.

Traveling by sea was out of the question. She had already been there, done that, and almost died with @senri several months back. Of course, flying over the ocean was still a terrible idea and made her violently ill with fear... but at least she wasn't drowning.[break][break]

But, Stormy had received a call from a town close to Slateport. It was risky going back there considering Team Rocket's control of the area.. but it was worth it to save the lives of innocent people. [break][break]

According to the report, the island was unstable. The Corsola that held the island up were under attack and the island was trembling and losing stability as a result. [break][break]

So of course, Stormy reached out to accept this mission. She wasn't the type to back down from a challenge, and this certainly was one.[break][break]

Stormy had learned though from several past mistakes not to go it alone. The woman had gotten in contact with a fellow League ranger, Laurence Anderson. She had been on a couple of critical missions in the past and they had worked well together, and she enjoyed his company.[break][break]

If anyone could help protect this island from further harm, it would be him.[break][break]

She arrived on the scene not long after Laurence addressed one of the townspeople. She had been standing patiently by his side when they cried for help, and when he repeated 'get rid of them?'[break][break]

"Sounds like the perfect job for Ranger Anderson."[break][break]

Her tone was playful, joking. Her eye's twinkled with mischief as she began for the shore.[break][break]

“Hey, you know I can’t get rid of all of them alone,” he replied with a hint of a smirk as he turned to face Stormy. They’d met on several missions together, and so working together was something he was perfectly fine with. Although, she did look a little pale, he wondered if she’d gotten here by sea. He knew that she didn’t have any Water-types, having a rather obvious preference for Fire-types…

“Hope you’re ready to get wet,” he said once the rest of the townspeople had cleared out—and the platform where they were standing gave another ominous rumble. “Wait… I hope you brought something that’s strong against Water,” he added a few moments later. While he didn’t know what Pokémon she had with her, he was pretty sure that the Rapidash he’d met before was definitely among them.

He then looked out over the water, and then cringed visibly as the light red stain started getting darker.

“Shit, what the hell is up with these Mareanie,” he hissed. Much as he’d wanted to have Thor drop a Thunderbolt to get rid of all of them, he knew that it was going to be rather dangerous—and electrify the entire town and possibly kill the Corsola.

Crap, looks like this is going to be a job where we need much finesse… he thought, secretly thankful that his Metagross wasn’t tired in the slightest. And lucky that the massive dual-type also knew Telekinesis. The Pokéball he had in his hand, he threw forward, revealing his Flygon, who circled around the air once before coming to a stop in front of him.

“I have Javert with me. I also have Zeis, my Scizor… which one would you want to borrow to ride on in the meantime? I’m going to need Ro free, because what I was thinking of doing is having him use Telekinesis around the area and haul the Mareanie out of the water…” he explained, before gesturing to several nets that had been left with them.

“…and then we dunk them into the nets here… after they’ve been dealt with, of course. Not killed, just… passed out.”

Get wet? Who said anything about getting wet? Stormy was definitely, absolutely, not going to go swimming in order to catch these creepy Corsola-eating fish.[break][break]

She laughed though, guffawing dramatically to make it seem like she was being sarcastic.[break][break]

His question though about her having anything with an advantage against water, because the answer was pretty much a no. [break][break]

"I'm sure you'll find a use for me."[break][break]

Her gaze followed Lars' as he looked out at the blood-stained water. Her previous bout of jest and light-heartedness soon sank a little bit at the severity of their situation. [break][break]

The townspeople had all scattered, likely to begin packing up their things to evacuate or to anxiously pray that the two rangers would be able to deal with this issue.[break][break]

Stormy looked back at Lars as he released his Flygon. The creature is impressive, flying incredibly quick. Lars' offer to let her ride on either him or his Scizor is met with a laugh.[break][break]

"I have Apollo with me, but thank you."[break][break]

In a flash of light, the stallion appears. He throws his head and stomps his hooves, pacing anxiously. There's a wide-open stretch directly to the edge of the island, and it excites him.[break][break]

The woman leaps atop his back, leaning forward to spur him into action. He doesn't need to be convinced. In a cloud of dust and a burst of agility, Apollo takes off at a breakneck pace.[break][break]

"Race you?"[break][break]

Stormy shouts above the noise of her mounts pounding hooves, waving her hand in the air as she speeds off.[break][break]

“You can help net the Mareanie, that’s for sure,” he said before watching her unball Apollo the Rapidash and challenging him to a race. A smirk formed on his face a few moments as he then shushed Javert and Zeis to go on ahead—because he was going to get there even faster in a few moments.

Stepping back a few, he then unballed Ro, and with an almighty grating noise, he hoisted himself up on his flat head…back…whatever. “Ro. Catch up to her, I know you hate being beaten at speed races,” he said with a smirk on his face as the Flygon and Scizor flew on ahead, and hung on for dear life as the Metagross then unleashed its own Agility, tucking his four legs in as he did so.

Basically he was going to overtake Stormy on something that looked like a fucking UFO and he was going to like this every step of the way.

Smirking, he caught up to her effortlessly, before pointing ahead. “See you by the shore!” he called in her direction, placing one hand on Ro’s flat head to urge it to go faster—and off he went!

The Flygon and Scizor were already waiting by the shore, and both were letting out dismayed-sounding shrieks at the coloration of the water, turning even redder as they waited much longer. Once Lars had arrived at the beach, he then slid off Ro’s back, before watching as the Metagross pointed back in the direction they’d come from—and with a nifty Telekinesis shift, had managed to pull the crates where the Mareanie nets were contained to their destination.

“You got something that can fly around and help?” he asked her once she’d arrive, watching as his other two companions were getting antsy, waiting for orders from Lars to get diving and start fishing and bringing up the pesky Mareanie to the surface.

Stormy looks up just as Lars gains speed. His Metagross' agility encourages him to go faster, but Lars hasn't seen the incredibly speed of a Rapidash. [break][break]

The stallion snorts, as if unimpressed by being bested. He lowers his head as he increases his own speed with his own AGILITY, hooves beating against the ground. It almost looks like he's flying.[break][break]

Both rangers reach the edge of the island at around the same time, Apollo skidding to a halt. There's sweat glistening on his hide as Stormy hops off, encouraging him to walk it off and enjoy his freedom while she works. [break][break]

She herself breaths a sigh, indicating her exhilaration.[break][break]

"I do, yeah."[break][break]

Stormy releases both Chandelure and Skarmory. The Chandelure begins to copy the Metagross, but uses PSYCHIC to pluck Mareanie out of the water. Meanwhile, Skarmory dives into the water over and over, retrieving several of the nasty Pokemon.[break][break]

"Just tell me what you want me to do."[break][break]

Ro won't take that for an answer! Lol

“Javert, Zeis, on my signal,” he began to the Flygon and the Scizor, and the two snapped to attention as he then looked over at Ro’s direction before grabbing a net of his own and passing another one over to Stormy.

“Ro, stretch it out in this direction first. Lift them out of the water with your Telekinesis! Javert, Screech on sight the moment you see them appear out of the water to stun them. Zeis, smack ‘em this way, I don’t care how you do it just… smack ‘em. Knock ‘em out and aim them in here,” he gestured to the net he was now holding.

As one, three pairs of eyes turned their attention to the water as the Metagross raised one of its four limbs only to stamp it down with a powerful gesture on the beachy sand—and a ripple shook the area, before one, two, three—several shrieking Mareanie rose out of the water, all intent on trying to feast on the Corsola that were still underwater—and several of the Mareanie then started firing off all manner of Spike Cannon attacks!

“Javert! Now! Zeis, change of plans—knock those back in their direction with your Air Slash!”

He knew something was going to go wrong along the way—while his plan sounded almost perfect in theory it was the execution that was going to be a bit of a problem. As several instances of Spike Cannon attacks bore down on them from different directions the Flygon let out an ear-piercing Screeching noise in an attempt to stun them, before the Scizor changed tactics and beat up a blast of air in an attempt to shield both himself and Stormy from the incoming attacks!

“Javert, Boomburst on my signal!” he continued, turning to Stormy and quickly motioning that she cover her ears. Whether or not she’d done this, a few moments later the Flygon then let rip with a powerful Boomburst attack, outright stunning the attacking Mareanie before the Scizor had time to sweep in and grab some of them before flying back and dropping them into the net near Lars’ feet.

“Keep it up, Javert!” he called out a few moments later. “They’re still at it!”

While Lars seemed to have his own plan of action, Stormy's team did as well. The minute Chandelure lifted them out of the water, Skarmory would take control - slicing at them with AIR SLASH and simultanously holding a mini WHIRLWIND to keep them from attacking using their spike cannons.[break][break]

Meanwhile though, Lars' Mareanie were either even nastier, or he was just having a more difficult time keeping them at bay. While she held the net open for the nasty buggers to be dropped in, she was now dancing around and praying that she wasn't hit by a stray spike.[break][break]

She squealed and hopped as his Scizor did his best to defend.[break][break]

"Are we almost done? I'd really like to stay 100% intact, if that's alright!"[break][break]

Lars signalled for her to cover her ears, and she did, dropping the net as she did so. The boomburst was still ear piercingly loud but less so considering. With a gasp, she kneeled back down to pick up the net.[break][break]

Skarmory then dropped several more limp and defeated Mareanie bodies inside.[break][break]

"Chandelure seems to think we've got em all. I think they've also begun to retreat."[break][break]

“He’s trying!” he shouted back, before whistling sharply in the Flygon’s direction to attempt another Screech to stun the other Mareanie that were rising out of the water—seeing as some of them were being transported by the Metagross’ continued use of Telekinesis towards the nets he had open.

“Zeis, I swear, keep the projectiles away from us!” he added, as another series of Air Slash attacks ripped through the mess of Spike Cannon, now joined by an array of Pin Missile attacks.

“Ro, get all of them out of the water! I know there’s a lot of them!” he continued, backing up as he reached for another Pokéball and realizing that he did have to go with the more harebrained solution after all. As the Flygon ripped through another round of Mareanie with its echoing Boomburst and the Scizor held off the projectile barrage, he then chucked out his Electivire, watching as Thor hit the sandy shore.

“Okay, Thor. Try not to get your electricity in the water, okay? Aim a Thunderbolt and scatter it around the Mareanie, go! But be careful and avoid hitting the water below! Ro, bring those up higher!”

The Metgross gave another grating noise before lifting the rest of the little cannibals higher above the surface of the water with its Telekinesis before the Electric-type then proceeded to drop a Thunderbolt on all the Mareanie that were floating in mid-air.

“Yikes,” was all he could say as he cringed, before watching the Metagross redirect all of the now-toasted Mareanie under its control towards the nets—there were so many he had to break out a second, and eventually filled up half of a third net before tying down the first one.

“Gee, there were this many out there?” he grumbled, quickly recalling Thor before he thought of doing anything else really stupid like dropping an Electro Ball attack on the water’s surface and causing even more damage to what he already knew were damaged Corsola lurking underneath…

Stormy did her best to collect all of her own Mareanie and Lars'. Eventually, between the two of them, they filled up almost five whole nets.[break][break]

Once the damage had been done and they had five neat piles of sleeping Mareanie, Stormy wiped the sweat from her brow nd smiled.[break][break]

"Job well done, partner."[break][break]

With a low whistle, she called back Skarmory an Chandelure. The two grabbed a net to carry before waiting for more instruction.[break][break]

"Time to head back I think. These guys can probably go to the Pokecenter for some TLC before being shipped somewhere they can't eat our Corsola."[break][break]

In a flash, Apollo appeared again. As she settled on his back, she waited a bit for her Pokemon to readjust. [break][break]

"Race you?"[break][break]

She laughed, urging Apollo on as they made a break for it. Skarmory and Chandelure were not too far behind, swinging heavy nets full of Mernie in their wake.[break][break]
