LEAGUE BARRACKS I

FIRST POST

OUTSIDE LEAGUE HEADQUARTERS, a ranger introduces themselves to local volunteers about the situation. the debrief details how an explained explosion happened earlier in the day, emphasized by the barely patched-up hole near the barrack’s wall.

they circle around the building until they come across the scene. by now, pokeballs have been placed back onto their respective shelves but some debris still lingers. while the civilians aren’t allowed in, they can peek into the door-sized hole, getting a decent grasp of the room inside.

the ranger goes on to explain that some of the pokemon missing may belong to the previous champion, BAILEY COOPER. a brief story of admiration is passed to pay respects before they usher the civilians with their task.

find the missing pokemon!

in the distance, they will find several tracks spread out in all directions. some steer back to the city, but a pair of deep foot prints lead into the forest. from a distance, you can see the carnage brought into the woods; trees snapped off at the trunk along with cuts across the path. whatever pokemon caused this is certainly sizable.

OBJECTIVES

post at least 5 time total.
at least 1 participant should state what they were doing prior to volunteering.
at least 1 participant should reference peeking through the hole created by the explosion.
at least 1 participant should mention and tag a league character (reference them; they don’t have to be in the thread) they know in response to the story about BAILEY COOPER.
at least 1 participant should mention the ranger advising them not to follow the large tracks and instead focus on the pokemon that fled into the city.
at least 1 participant should urge the group to follow the big foot prints into the forest.

once all objective have been completed you may request a new mod post to progress your story.

the earliest you may request a new mod post is DECEMBER 27TH.

Work had been slow earlier, which was surprising given the season. Typically, more people came in with colds, the flu, or some sort of illness related to the cooling weather. It was becoming even more common with the shift in the weather. However, they released Evelyn early.

So what did she do with this newfound time off?

Volunteer, of course.

Maybe for her own personal gain, but no one else really had to know that, now, did they? She met up with the group she was assigned to, her arms crossed as the ranger explained exactly what happened.

She looked through the hole, raising her eyebrows. Interesting. How did the explosion come about, she wondered. And this Bailey Cooper...

"Well this is interesting, huh, boys?"

Her yellow gaze flicked to her companions, waiting for them to speak.

"interesting?"

he voices, repeating as he peeks through the hole created by the explosion. was it really an explosion? or was it a pokemon busting its way through? either way, he keeps his thoughts to himself for now as he turns to his two partners.

one he had come to know through his brief tenure as minor league gym leader before his promotion, and the other through rocket. but of course, he pretends like he doesn't know the latter.

"guess so. what do you think caused this, grey?"

"not sure," he admits, regarding the scene with narrowed eyes. he'd done something like this, a time or two, and despite the new cushy paycheck and gym-leader spot, he was always down to get his hands dirty. "a pokemon, is the easy answer," and the most viable, but it leaves the answer open to a wide venue, "but i guess we'll have to find out the hard way."

he'd heard a thing or two about BAILEY COOPER from MATIAS SILPH, and through small snippets of conversations from his briefing on groudon. she was a hell of a warrior, and former champion - a job with a not so great mortality rate attributed to it. his eyes drop down to the massive footprints that lead into the nearby wood.

Evelyn looked between the two men as they conversed before ducking down to examine the tracks again. She couldn't quite make out what caused them.

while both options are viable, following the larger footprints into the forest seems to be the most logical option even if they were advised against it. could it be that the ranger wanted them to focus on keeping the city safe? or was it because they thought they were too weak to handle the true threat?

"i think we should deal with the big one first."

FIRST POST

THE TRAIL LEADS them well into the forest. the deeper the descent the more destruction in their wake. trees are toppled. bark is ripped and splintered from trunks wide enough to show their age.

upon closer examination, privy eyes will be able to surmise that the perpetrator boasts incredible PHYSICAL STRENGTH. some cuts look wild, imprinted from claws that rely on strength rather than sharpness. others look torn, as if dislodged from a flailing appendage or tail.

following the path leads up to a small clearing of disheveled soil. deep trenches show evidence of some skirmish, spread out from a single epicenter. among the broken branches and still standing shrubbery are the remains of injured pokemon. at least those that remain. among them, the trainers will find several dead, others with wounds that range from mild to serious.

should you aid them, you will fine that they suffer from the cleanest incisions and residual poison.

ONE OF YOU may claim a gacha version of the pokemon listed.
redeem as a gacha pokemon in the shop.

OBJECTIVES

post at least 5 time total.
at least 2 participant(s) should reference the damage.
at least 1 participant should examine the damage in detail.
at least 1 participant should verbalize a hypothesis on what happened.
at least 3 posts should address the injured pokemon in some fashion.
at least 1 participant should comment about that a pokemon was killed.

once all objective have been completed you may request a new mod post to progress your story.

the earliest you may request a new mod post is JANUARY 3RD.

They went into the forest. Honestly?

Evelyn wasn't quite sure what she was expecting to fine.

But this damage... it was certainly not what she imagined. Or the scattered Pokemon laying about, some dead, some wounded.

She approached the Pokemon, the ones that remained alive. As a nurse, she could tell that their wounds were cut cleanly and... was that...

"It seems like there's some poison left in their wounds."

Of course she'd be able to pick it up with her growing experience in the subject. Shrugging off her bag, she pulled out emergency medical supplies.

"sheesh..."

it's hard not to stare at the damage and destruction in awe and wonder and, honestly, fear. the sheer strength needed to topple trees in this manner is almost unimaginable. but his attention's soon pulled away to the cries of pokemon.

"some have been killed."

the limp body of a zigzagoon lays before him. it's not an unfamiliar sight by any means but it still turns his stomach.

he exhales, moving to help a few injured pokemon.

"arceus..." his voice is a low-whisper, spilling forth from thin lips, and a set jaw. what happened here wasn't a simple battle - it was a massacre. surrounded by the corpses of pokemon sent a chill down his spine, and he immediately releases a few of his comfey to distribute themselves among the wounded. a soft hue, pink in color, follows the spreading of FLORAL HEALING.

"something large came through here. something angry." at least, he thinks. this wasn't done out of hunger, but for sport. examining the situation closer, he can see that whatever it is, is powerful. really powerful. it reminds him in a way of his own tyrantrum and the devastation it can wreck if left unchecked.

Evelyn's own Pokemon were unable to heal with their moves or abilities, so she stuck to the traditional methods that she had been taught through many years of nursing. Of course, her companions' help was much appreciated.

She looked over at the Pokemon remaining, one catching her eye. The GULPIN. Perhaps she'd take the poor thing, claim it as her own.

KEEN OBSERVATION starts to unravel what has happened here. while others tend to injured pokemon, one (@evelyn) even taking up the mantle of ferrying it back to be nursed, a foregone conclusion starts to take form. something, or someone, is behind all of this. whoever it is proves both frighteningly powerful and lacks the empathy to discern between the weak and the strong.

“hey Greyson Connors. are you in lilycove?"

the text message comes from a league authorized number. in the same vein that rangers are messages by a dispatcher so too are gym leaders brought into regional affairs from time to time. there's no mention of other gym leaders being preoccupied by the AQUA INITIATIVE but their unavailability means the torch gets passed onto the greenest representative.

"a ranger mentioned they saw you. if you are available they could use your help. please convene at the closest league headquarters if possible. thanks."

before the group depart from this scene, they make note of several things:

the same signs of destruction, uprooted ground and broken trees, leads toward MOUNT PYRE. whatever the source, it looks like somethin BULLDOZED its way out of the forest. the same claw marks from before can be seen. a pair of three pronged foot prints leave deep imprints.

a smaller path diverges from the epicenter. it leads to ROUTE 120. despite being small enough to travel through, you notice that branches and undergrowth alike littered on the floor. whoever transverse down this path literally cut through anything in their way. each cut shows the same pattern, clean, perfect, and articulate. small puddles of purple sludge sizzles further down.

and, to only the most observant person, a trail of small footprints lead back to LILYCOVE. they consist of a pair of single dots with a more oval shape point, as if from a pair of high heels. after a good measure, they simply disappear.

OBJECTIVES

at least 2 participant(s) should investigate the scene again before leaving.
at least 2 participants(s) should verbalize a new or reinforced hypothesis on what happened.
as a group, decide which prompt you would want to explore: MOUNT PYRE, ROUTE 120, or LILYCOVE. this will determine part 2 and the finale.
at least 3 participants(s) should mention what they’ve noticed and will include in their CIVILIAN REPORT.
optional: whoever posts LAST should compile the details each character would’ve wrote about into a small report to submit icly.
