cait and her flower-maned counterpart turned their gazes downward, their expressions similar as they gauged the effect of the freeze dry.

'ah.'

patches of the summoned grassy terrain transitioned from a healthy shading of green to a disgustingly unattractive pale yellow. it was as though it had been touched by winter itself - but the terrain remained as is - albeit comparatively weaker.

"petal - "

as she was in the midst of ordering her companion she noted that her florges was rendered partially immobile, her 'feet' attached to the ground by a thick layer of ice.

"petal blizzard," she continued, urging her fairy-type onward.

the attack was summoned forth as the ice continued to spread, finally halting at her hip as she managed to summon forth the energy needed to summon forth the overabundance of petals.

the aurora veil proves to be the crux of his ninetales' longevity in the battle field. it screens out a volume of the petals, reducing the damage his pokemon would have attained had he taken the petal blizzard head on.

"nasty plot."

the order goes when cait takes a moment to stutter on her command. the cold intensifies as the ice-type strengthens itself, hail finally starting to accompany the sudden drop temperature.

the only thing left was to attack.

"ice beam."

a beam of cold goes from the ninetales' mouth towards the florges. it goes straight towards the florges, forcing itself to pierce through anything that it will try to defend itself with.

florges was incapable of removing herself from the pathway of the enhanced ice beam, the chilled power impacting her midsection and engulfing her in a thick block of ice. it shattered all at once only a moment later, the fairy-type swaying briefly before she collapsed in a heap.

"you did your best, florges."

cait offered her praise prior to having the pokemon escorted from the stone field. the only pokemon she had at her disposal now was her breloom, though his chances on conquering the fox hemmed on how speedily he could deliver his next few strikes. cait eyed ninetales for a moment before she gestured for her fighter to step forward.

"it's your turn, breloom."

the pokemon gave a solemn nod before he stepped forward and positioned himself before his elaborately garbed mistress.

"mind reader," she said. "dynamic punch."

the breloom appeared to focus for a moment, foreseeing whatever lay ahead before he lunged ; intending to close the distance between himself and his opponent to deliver the attack.

this is bad.

kyle found his options lacking against the physical attacker. he may have the advantage offensively, but his ninetales does not have any formidable resistance against the grass-type's moves, not to mention weathering the florges' attacks earlier earlier.

"moonblast!"

fairy energy formed on the ninetales' mouth, aiming it towards the breloom. the breloom's fist would collide with the moonblast should the momentum not stop, causing an explosion that would soon knock out the ice-type.

breloom had predicted the moonblast's manifestation but had decided against avoiding the move in its entirety. instead, he'd thrust his dynamic punch to meet the energy-based strike; the resulting explosion significant as the two opposing forces met.

"bre..."

the pokemon stumbled in its immediate aftermath, riddled with an overabundance of fresh wounds as he remained standing. but his limbs visibly trembled as he maintained an upright position, his consciousness beginning to wane as he struggled to focus upon his foe.

"it's a miracle he's still capable of fighting after that," cait murmured, impressed.

"delta!"

the mightyena replaces the ninetales on the battlefield. one pokeball recalls the unconscious body of the ice-type while another releases the dark-type from its confines. standing on all fours, the mightyena matches the opponent in the eye, revealing its canines as a form of intimidation as it did.

"rock smash."

the dark-type rushes forward, legs forcing themselves as the mightyena charges towards the breloom. with a strong enough impact, it throws its body to the grass-type's with strength.
