Deserts were not Aaron's favorite place. With him was Steelix, Palosand, Gengar, Trevenant, Metagross, and Scizor. Still, the sandstorm raging was annoying as all hell. The blonde wore a pair of goggles to help out with that, but also wore khaki shorts, brown heavy boots, and a khaki T-shirt. Noticing too late, the blonde was already wanting to wear long sleeves and pants since his arms and legs were already burning. But supposedly, this little dungeon crawling adventure was going to be worth it. According to his dad's colleague. Who also claimed that while this place was barely explored, it wasn't very dangerious based on his stakeouts and tentative scouting. And because this colleague actually knew what he was talking about and knew how to do his job...his dad thought that maybe him or Kee could help him out a little while their father dealt with the whole mess of Littleroot after that big battle.

Aaron was surprised at first. Maybe his taking on Rockets and coming back without a dead pokemon or a scratch on his head actually made his parents awknowledge that he had strength. With this in mind, he took them up on the offer, and thus here he was. About to go crawling about searching for some minor artifact that the museum just haven't had time to send someone after. The entrance was partially buried in sand, but Aaron managed to find it and slip in and get out of the raging sandstorm. Dusting off the hat and his clothes, he couldn't help but feel heavier. The amber eyed teenager swore there was sand in places where sand should not be. After shaking himself off a bit, he let out his Palosand. Best be prepared. And this could be good training. "You wanna be my guard for this leg of the trip?" Even though he was monotone and stoic, his sandcastle excitedly moaned out an affirmative. With a nod, he was about to go deeper when he heard noises back at the entrance. Looking back, he waited for whatever was coming...

[attr="class","inner-finally"]There are times where she thanks her mom for the many horrible but surprisingly helpful ways of teaching her about the world beyond her home's walls. Sure, putting a 5 year-old through a sandstorm probably wasn't the ideal way of parenting, but it had been controlled by a pokemon and Lenore had been there every step of the way. From teaching her what to wear to how to pack her gear, the well-travelled explorer had made sure to impart every bit of knowledge she'd gained from her own adventures.[break][break]

Hugging her bag tight to her chest, she makes sure to keep her goggles on tight as she wades through the piling sand. Considering how small she is, she won't last much longer trying to trudge through this sandstorm. As such, she's moving straight towards the first cave she sees, her hands desperately sweeping the sand aside as she unceremoniously tumbles down the hole.[break][break]

She lands on her back, gracelessly splayed out across the entrance as the harsh winds howl outside the stony archway. With her bag still firmly tucked against her chest, the prominent rise and fall points to just how hard she's heaving to catch her breath.[break][break]

"We..." A sharp inhale. "... made..." A coughing fit. "... woo! We made it!"[break][break]

A final spurt of energy allows Eris to sit herself upright, dragging herself towards the wall to lean against it. With a hand readjusting her goggles to sit on her head, her grip on her bag loosens, allowing a tiny pixie to fly out with pokeball in toll. And of course, the little lake guardian is one to find joy in tossing the pokeball up, watching as a Luxray manifests and clapping gleefully.[break][break]

"Told you I'd make it without problems!"[break][break]

Reiner merely snorts when he spies the way she struggles to catch her breath. Then he perks up, his gaze snapping towards the path leading deeper into the unknown structure.[break][break]

"Is there something there, bud?"[break][break]

Looking back, Reiner eyes the raging sandstorm and the way the sand keeps creeping in. Then he sighs, gently lifting her onto his back and huffing at Mesprit to follow. If there's anything he figures would be good, it's probably to meet up with the other person up ahead and work together.

Nothing happened. Sighing in relief that he wasn't followed, Aaron reached in his pack and took out a few items. Turning on the flashlight he had, he started to bend and make the glow sticks glow. He packed a bunch of them to lay out so he could get out. So long as no one picks them up after him. And so it begins. Every time he turned a corner, he left a glow stick. Each hall had at least two glow sticks for him to follow back to the entrance. He did see some torch handles on the walls, but they were long since burnt out. But he also couldn't help but notice a good deal of split hallways. There was one thing the blonde didn't like though, the way his shoes echoed so damn loudly! He may be wearing some major clod-hoppers, but good grief even the deaf could hear his every step!

His sand castle suddenly stopped at the corner of a hallway. Aaron didn't know why, and peaked around the corner. It was a large room with some sort of puzzle. There was also Sandile and Baltoy up ahead, a dozen of each. Shouldn't be a problem. Even for Palosand. Looking behind him just to make sure he wasn't going to get ambushed, he saw a pair of yellow eyes in the distance. A Luxray. Amber eyes narrowed as he shined his flash light at it. And soon found that it was carrying someone. Someone he knew. With his facial features softening, he motioned for them to come closer. Though he did raise a blonde eyebrow at the sight of one of the Lake Trio following them. Cute Pokemon, but not of his preferred types. When close enough, he did speak in a whisper. "Hi Eris. I got a dozen Sandile and Baltoy just around the corner. I'd rather not fight them, and they do seem to just be enjoying the place...what do you think?"

Legendaries just seem so common anymore that it was rediculous. Between Dialga, Xerneas, and Groudon just at Littleroot, he didn't much bat an eye at the younger girl with a Mesprit trailing her like a lost little puppy.

"I think we'll be fine if we just... don't get too close? We can always put them to sleep if they get aggressive?"[break][break]

Looking to Mesprit, Eris can't help but wonder if she has any ideas. Not that she's able to understand the trills of the lake guardian very well, nor does she know what she's capable of.[break][break]

"Just... don't try to irritate any of them, Mes. Please?"

Aaron nodded. "Palosand does know Hypnosis, though that'll only affect the Baltoy. The Sandile will be another story. Keeping our distance should be good enough..." Mesprit trilled almost worriedly? It seemed like Eris was having issues understanding as well. He didn't comment, just nodded at the girl and started to walk in like he belonged there. With Palosand right behind him. The Pokemon did look at them, but otherwise mostly minded their own business. Walking to the center of the room, the puzzles looked like they shifted one slab to the next empty spot to form a picture. After a few experimental touches to the stone, they moved surprisingly easy. As he moved the obvious corner pieces, and then just experimented around...it looked like it was to be some kind of fossil Pokemon.

"I think these puzzles are supposed to create a picture of fossil Pokemon...this one is Tyrantrum I believe..." After a couple more minutes of fiddling, he was right. A small rumble and a loud kachink was heard further up by the wall, but no obvious next step. Did they have to solve all three puzzles? The Pokemon around them took notice, but then continued to loiter about. Not very concerned were they? Aaron started on the second puzzle, soon forming an Aerodactyle. Another loud kachink, but nothing else...

[attr="class","inner-finally"]"We'll be fine! Don't worry!" She smiles, urging Reiner to take the lead as he guides her away from danger. And for once, Mesprit seems to listen to her, sticking close or fluttering close to the walls to see the strange carvings all around.[break][break]

Taking a peek at the puzzle itself, it takes a while for Eris to examine it before she finally pulls away. "If it's fossil pokemon then... we're not likely to see anything too complicated! I doubt the ancient Hoennians went around talking to mutant fossil pokemon like Dracovish and the like?"[break][break]

She fumbles around with the remaining pieces for a bit, but nothing seems to fit perfectly into place just like the last two. Had there been debris and pieces of rock just tossed into the mix for fun? Or to deter people from getting into the inner sanctums of this strange ruins?[break][break]

The quiet clicking of mechanisms causes Reiner to look around, his gaze seemingly focused on things beyond the walls as he traces something in silence. All until he finds something, carefully slinking over to a broken space in the wall and snorting. Following his prompts, Eris reaches over, her fingers carefully reaching into the gaps and feeling the space as a frown begins to tug at her lips.[break][break]

Finally, her hands brush against something rough and she grasps onto it, pulling it out after a bit of struggle - Yet another fragment of something bigger, probably a fragment of the puzzle when one considered the grooves on the rocky surface. At Mesprit's call, she lets the little pixie hold it for a moment, then keeps an open palm out to take it back before it goes missing.[break][break]

"Good eye, Reiner!" Dusting the piece off, the trio then shifts back to the center puzzle. With a bit of mischievous help from Mesprit and a few nudges from Reiner, the puzzle slowly falls into place. And when she adds the newfound piece to the mix and replaces a few duds, she finds a slightly weathered recreation of an Amaura.[break][break]

Up ahead, something makes a deep, echoing thunk and that sound seems to snatch the attention of all the wild pokemon in the room. Some begin to flee into the cracks of the ruins, while others grow fearful and aggressive, their gazes turned to the completed puzzle at the center of the room. All at once, they surge towards the group of adventurers, clawing and snapping with heightened growls - Whatever it is that the puzzle is for, it seems that the wild pokemon aren't too happy with it.

Aaron nodded. "I suspect not." Weren't those mistakes from the revival process? Well, whatever the case, Eris did hers. It took longer, but only because a piece was missing, somehow stuck inside the contraption that her Luxray saw and tracked. Once she put it in and made a picture of an Amaura, a thunk sounded deeper in. The door opened, and some Pokemon ran away, others frozen in fear, and more yet ready to strike at them. Turning to Eris, he spoke to her. "Go." Aaron himself went in front of the door after she'd gone, with Palosand guarding the entrance against the incoming Sandile and Baltoy. "Sandstorm. Then switch off between Giga Drain, Shadow Ball, and Shore Up. Don't let a single one through." His sand castle moaned in aweknowledgement, and stirred up the storm just outside the door, soon disappearing inside it due to her Sand Veil ability.

With the sounds of battle, Aaron wasn't too worried. Palosand was built to fight for a long time. Still, he didn't want to leave her alone, either. Trevenant, Magnezone, Banette, Scizor, and Gengar would be fine, but not most of his others. So he waited until the sounds faded and the sandstorm subsided. Nodding at his cheering Palosand, he went around with a potion to treat the wild Pokemon. They may not have liked their tampering, but there was a reason for it. No need to condemn them if it's a good one. Once he was done, he returned his sand castle to better catch up to Eris. Luckily, the place seemed pretty linear at this point. And soon found her...along with three large fossil Pokemon in front of her, staring them down. Great...
