CATO'S INFAMY FILE

PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE X PRIVATE KNOWLEDGE

INTRODUCTORY BLURB

ALL THAT'S LEFT IS THE STRANGER PART OF ME

A man of many odd habits and odder company, Cato Dipasquale mostly keeps to himself and rarely steps foot outside of his office unless business demands such. A fervid taskmaster who buries himself in the accounting portion of his business. Notably, he suffers greatly from a heavy sense of paranoia and shows signs of developing savant syndrome.

PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE

WHAT CAN BE LOOKED UP

Cato is the son of the late Nathaniel Dipasquale and inherited everything from the former owner. His business is focused on a more casino and bar aspect, only open to those willing to pay for a membership. Despite its closed doors, his business, the Velvet Room, brings people far and wide, whether they be of no note or hold government seating or higher. It's unknown as to what draws people into the area, but what is known is that all who come through the doors of his establishment remain more than pleased with their membership.

PERSONAL SECRETS

REGARDING CATO'S FAMILY : Cato was born to a victim of human trafficking within the same walls he currently resides over. His father is unknown, even on official documents, but the man was of some official status, at the very least. At the age of 6, Cato was adopted and raised by Nathaniel Dipasquale so that Nathaniel could have an heir and properly claim his inheritance from his father. At the age of 17, Cato killed his adoptive father after roughly 7 years of mental, emotional, and physical abuse. Official documents do not have a cause of death written down for Nathaniel, simply ruling him off as missing -- he wasn't declared dead until ten years following his disappearance.

REGARDING CATO'S BUSINESS : The Velvet Room, to most, is merely a myth of a place. That dark place built upon rumors of a club reeking of death to its core with members far and wide of various levels of importance. You've got the members made of old money, then you've got the ones of international political fame and infamy.

The Velvet Room was created by Benjamin Dipasquale in 1946 and has been passed down throughout the generations. As of right now, Benjamin's adopted grandson Cato holds the deed, but he's split the work among his most trusted associates. For decades, the area has kept its sense of secrecy, and Cato hopes to maintain it without question. Currently, he acts as co-owner alongside his most trusted advisor, .

As far as membership goes, as long as you've got a way to pay, you've got a way in these doors. But it's not so simple as to simply waltz in and demand a membership. The scouting process is a bit selective. If one can reach them through the dark web, The Velvet Room will get into contact with them and set up a time and location for someone to retrieve the puzzle that stores their invite.

(The head of the institute believes if someone really wants to get a taste of what his associates offer, they can work to solve a simple tamper-proof, indestructible puzzle box, right?)

Upon completion of said box, further instructions will be offered in the form of a business card with another obscure location and time. Each member is interviewed thoroughly before they complete the selection process. By the end of said interview, people will know whether or not they've been selected. Following acceptance is the membership package, and each membership requires a monthly payment. The access levels are left secret until the selection is made. (Don't worry, members can upgrade or cancel if they find the services are not to their liking.)

The membership tier starts off simple at bronze. This level of membership allows for basic access to the first floor casino lounge as well as the bar. They are the lowest tier, thus the least expensive. This is the only portion of The Velvet Room that remains at least public knowledge.

Following is the next tier, silver. This tier is for the more voracious kind. The second level offers to set free carnal desire and dangerous intrigue in the form of access to The Velvet Room's prostitution ring as well as their auctions of various weaponry and items of intrigue. Naturally they also have access to the casino floor and bar, but those in this tier and above are sworn to secrecy.

The third tier, naturally, is gold. This tier falls in abandoning human inhibition. While the lower tiers remain accessible as well with gold, the prime level of sin in membership here falls in the art of human trafficking. These members are offered the chance to bargain for a selection of people. The highest bidder, of course, wins. But fear not, as there's no shortage of wares here.

The fourth and final tier is platinum. This tier is the most expensive, and the highest honor in The Velvet Room. To earn this rank, members are required to kill someone that the co-owners pluck out. If they can show they hold no hesitation, then their membership in this area will be accepted. But it will be a supervised kill, meaning they won't cheat their way out of murder sadly. Upon completion, members of the platinum rank will be marked with a tattoo. And the tattoo itself will evolve the more they partake in the level's activities. This particular level grants access to an elite torture club that the owners have created as a means of taking away some stress from the eccentric one-percenters out there. Each torture may be handled in the way the member sees fit, however it is advised that each session must end in death. There are no exceptions to this requirement. To number their kill count, each member is fitted with a tattoo designed to look like a clock face. The very first symbolizes one kill, and as the clock ticks forward each hour, it signifies the number of kills each member has. A completed clock boasts the highest number. (tattoo design reference)

Each silver tier and above member is sworn to secrecy, and if their membership is revoked, they will be monitored from afar. Consider it an insurance on the group itself, as they aren't afraid to wipe out potential threats to their amoral sense of fun. There are secrets kept between each tier, and each level is guarded heavily to maintain that level of secrecy.
