[attr="class","starrytext"]talk about annoying! this thing took a crunch earlier and it's now ramming through the flamethrower?! what the hell was up with this guy's pokemon. arcanine couldn't move, so, he'd have to take it! "CRUNCH, now!" as soon as the right doublade neared its mouth, arcanine would bite down upon it with CRUNCH, damaging it greatly.

upon catching the right-doublade. such a pain from the crunch should cause even the left-doublade to wince, though it continued to charge forward with SACRED SWORD. with its brethren in his mouth, he'd begin to run. as he were being chased. he ran toward ALEXANDER STONE, halted, turned, ducked, and rolled over. should alex not move, he'd come to be pierced by his own doublade--had it chosen to give chase that is--but, should it come to a halt and choose not to give chase. arcanine was going to bite down even harder with CRUNCH and put this doublade's soul to rest, but not before banging the blade upon the ground repeatedly to damage it some more.

"seriously, will you just go down already..." mateo commented. just what kind of doublade was this anyway? that right was seriously taking some crazy hits. no way in hell it wasn't on death's doorstep.

NO GUARD allows arcanine's CRUNCH to cleanly connect. the fire-dog will taste an odd concoction of warm steel and fur as its tongue licks away. as for the other side of the doublade, it has not much of a choice but to follow when arcanine decides to dart away. even if they aren't physically connected, the two sides of the doublade are spiritually linked. where one goes, the other follows.

mateo is right however at his assumption of doublade's health: it is close to falling.

the two pokemon go tumbling towards the champion who remains steadfast and strong, not moving even at the sight of a charging arcanine with two sharp swords following. all alexander does is cross his arms and watch as the doublade collides body-first into an invisible barrier.

a sudden WIDE GUARD is enacted. dust and dirt scatter into a cloud as doublade comes crashing, barely avoiding piercing its own trainer. with the other side still in arcanine's mouth being CRUNCHED away, it leaves the other side free to continue its onslaught.

alexander takes a step back when the shield dissolves, mindful of his positioning. the remaining side of the doublade slashes forward twice in an 'x', SACRED SWORD looking to end the battle.

[attr="class","starrytext"]at this point, they were playing. arcanine continued to bite down upon the doublade. rolling and tumbling about so that the doublade wouldn't hurt the dog. but it wasn't until the second slash would cut the dog from the side, a yelp giving way as he'd release the right doublade.

arcanine skidded back to mateo's side of the field. standing back upon its four paws, growling from being harmed. "you okay, kyle?" he asked the arcanine. he'd bark to alert his condition. "we'll end this soon, don't worry." he reassured the dog. "we're still ready to play some more. but, seriously, your doublade's just about broken. you sure you wanna keep this up? nothing wrong with a gym leader surrendering!" mateo grinned. and with the snap of a finger, he'd order, "flamethrower!" releasing a brilliant flame of fire from its maw and toward the doublade.

arcanine releases its hold over doublade and one side of it immediately falls to the ground, this time not in any sort of fashion that'd indicate a retaliation. it's down and out, and alexander can see how the other side is struggling to stay afloat as well.

mateo asks a question, suggests a surrender, and then blows a FLAMETHROWER their way. the audacity almost makes alexander laugh. a beam of red hits the doublade before the fire reaches it.

"i appreciate your concern but maybe you should be asking yourself the same question."

mienshao abandons her trainer's side and leaps back onto the battlefield, ready to play with the arcanine. her REGENERATOR has healed her a bit and the spring in her step returns, so much so that it carries her forward, charging at the fire-type.

another guaranteed FAKE OUT looks to connect against the fire-type's nose.

[attr="class","starrytext"]a toothy grin. finally, the one they were after. the one pokemon he'd been looking forward to returning--at full health at that. "arcanine..." a fierce look given by the fire-type, "...time to hunt." he knew what it meant, and he knew that it was time to retaliate with MIMIC. standing on its back legs, it'd release a counter FAKE-OUT. except, rather than physical, this one was in the form of a beam that would shoot out toward the purple cat.

had she chosen to dodge it, mateo would give an order, "follow up!" and if the mienshao dodged the fake-out. arcanine would maneuver with EXTREME SPEED to manifest behind, several meters away from the purple cat's back, to deliver a FLAMETHROWER.

although, there was a chance that the mienshao could take the hit. and had it chosen to take the hit, arcanine would still follow up with a FLAMETHROWER instead. due to mienshao flinching from the returned fake-out that it, may have, chose to take.

there's no dodging the FAKE OUT; the purple beam collides against mienshao's readied fist, the two attacks cancelling each other out. perhaps that is why arcanine decides to disappear into an EXTREME SPEED. she almost misses it but she's more perceptive than one would imagine. mienshao predicts where arcanine is going to go but doesn't make a motion to counter.

FLAMETHROWER meets her fair skin and she allows it to because it means it puts them in close proximity. she grunts under the pain, struggles, but like doublade from before she bursts forward with a HIGH JUMP KICK, looking to connect square against the underside of arcanine's jaw, before BOUNCING upwards only to slam back down against the fire-type's body.

[attr="class","starrytext"]"you literally just put your mienshao through hell?! no pokemon can withstand that much heat, led alone a mienshao that doesn't even have the armor of an aggron!" an aggron can barely handle intense heat, how the hell did this mienshao handle that?! regardless, arcanine was sent tumbling from the first kick. bouncing off, it would attempt for a second.

MIMIC was used. arcanine, then, jumped high! "nice!" 'causing the purple feline to miss. landing in the spot arcanine had jumped from, only for the fire dog to come back down to give the feline a taste of its own medicine, he, too, used HIGH JUMP-KICK.

"pokemon are not like us. they are able to withstand so much more, as i am sure you are able to attest to." he watches as the flames lick away at mienshao's skin, burning and leaving scorch marks. "mienshao will be fine. she has been through worse."

the first kick connects but it's not enough. arcanine jumps into the air and lands back down for a HIGH JUMP KICK with its massive legs. mienshao doesn't dodge this one either; she takes it, dropping to one knee from the impact. the damage is almost overwhelming but she holds on.

she counters with a direct FORCE PALM to arcanine's stomach.

[attr="class","starrytext"]"pokemon can still feel. no matter how strong or toned their bodies are. you shouldn't just assume everything's okay, you didn't even praise it for withstanding that." brows furrowed, what was wrong with this guy? this battle was fun and all, but mateo didn't get him.

arcanine was forced away by the mighty palm. skidding back as he'd land upon all four, growling at the mienshao. "FLAMETHROWER!" once more a great fire was expelled from the arcanine's maw. attempting to burn the mienshao some more.

before the next FLAMETHROWER could connect against mienshao's already-burned skin, a beam of red light engulfs her and dissolves her form. she vanishes back into her pokeball safe and sound. she would have withstood the attack too but

"a battle is a battle. no distractions. where you might praise your pokemon during a battle for withstanding a hit, mine know that it is expected of them. regardless, praise comes after, even if they fail. i am no monster, mateo martinez."

he takes a step forward, drawing out the otella badge which flashes in the sunlight. he hands it over to the challenger with a smile.

"congratulations. you and your pokemon fought well."
