Yujin offered a sheepish smile. Phone in hand, wearing a two-piece striped bikini, with a string sunhat atop her head and a bag slung over her shoulder, she looked like the consummate professional of tourism. [break][break]

She’d only seen Ozni in pictures before, but he was striking and therefore easy to beeline to. It certainly helped that Slateport’s beach was far emptier than normal owing to the oppressive heat. Even now, the sand radiated a warmth that would turn scorching if not for her sandals.[break][break]

“Thank you for entertaining me. Shall we get ice cream? Or maybe jump straight in?”

Next to him, a Gholdengo gleamed like some artifact from Indiana Jones. A pure gold surfboard was held under one of its arms. The CEO’s own surfboard was laying down in the sand some ways away. It had never even seen the water.[break][break]

Digging out one of his old ones would have been way too much trouble. So, he’d just picked one up at the local surf shop.[break][break]

s always, his phone sat in his hands. Right now, he was dealing with some “emergency” in Kalos. But, tall and imposing as he was, the trunks were what likely caught Yujin’s eyes first.[break][break]

The trunks were designer, but not exactly suave. Like the guy wearing them, they tried to be equal parts witty and showy. They were teal and covered in images of a different CEO’s face. The things were the result of a bet lost a couple of years ago. But they were pretty stinking comfortable. In terms of a top, he’d gone for his birthday suit. It didn’t hurt to show off one of the 6s that’d caught the engineer’s eyes after all. His phone, meanwhile, was secured in a waterproof case attached to the belt loop. Though, it didn’t stray far enough from his hands for that to matter.[break][break]

Hitting enter, he turned to face the navy-haired lady. "Man, I'm glad I changed. I almost rocked the same top Talk about a fashion faux-pas."

Pffft. They called this a heat wave? No wonder these people got so hot and bothered. It wasn't even sticky out! [break][break]His mouth opened in a blinding grin—a trademark expression of the Adebayo family. “Aw! Come on, babe! There’s no better time to go!” One caramel finger pulled his sunglasses down his face. “The water will feel great.” At the question, he paused to ponder his question. His golden ghost mimed eating. Oz waved him off.[break][break]

“Well, you aren’t supposed to go swimming for like an hour after eating, right?” Chippendale sighed. Why did humans have to be so weird? All these stupid rules that exited for like one person. Again, that smile returned. He dipped in close. He turned a conspiratorial glance at the nearby ice cream stand. “Let’s make like Kalosians and rebel.”

Having apparently finished his call—and perhaps she was to suspect there would be more?—the duo turned their attention to the matter at hand.[break][break]

“It's a good thing it's safe to swim after eating.” Yujin pat the CEO’s cheek lightly as he leaned in. Unlike the garish gholdengo, she had patience in mountainous spades. [break][break]

So she’d begin to walk over to the ice cream stand, tossing her short hair. “Unless you’re afraid of a little cramp?”

What size do you think I’d need?” Probably an XL at least. Most women weren’t as broad in the shoulders as he was. Next to him, the Gholdengo mimed a bikini on his own skin—now heated by the sun. [break][break]

Ozni smirked as old memories flooded in. The shrill scream of a portly woman chasing him—slipping and sliding—across the tiles of the family’s pool. The way he and his sister would laugh as they tried to reach the water before she caught him. The pat was met with a faux bite, his chest rumbling with an evil falser growl. He winked. “You try telling my Kahu hānai that.”[break][break]

That woman acted like the water would turn to acid if they’d even thought about food beforehand.[break][break]

“I’m not afraid, Yo-Yo..” He lifted his hand to his chest and sniffed. “Just trying to honor Mele’s memory.” As they reached the front of the ice cream line, a wallet emerged from his trunk pockets. “I’ve got this.” Out came the black card. He moved to hand it over.[break][break]

“Uh, sir--” The teenager waiting the stand tapped at the sign. “--we only take cash.” That wasn’t a problem. He had plenty of money. “Can you break a—” Again came the head shake.
