open daycare playdate mission!

Admittedly, he hasn’t been with his spiky-headed companion too long.

So to get dropped off at this strange place with all the other Pokémon was…pretty terrifying for Lionel, to say the least! If only he could speak something other than his native PokéSpeak, he would’ve squawked at Lars not to leave him here alone!

However, the human appeared to be rather busy, and had promised to come back for him at the end of the day before departing on the bike. Ohh, he wanted to ride the bike again and lounge in the front basket of the thing! Going up to speeds of—well, he didn’t know HOW to measure speed but whenever Lars put the pedal to the metal it was absolutely nuts.

Like he was in a hurry and would appear to run out of fucking road! Or whatever the humans traveled on.

Why didn’t they have wings anyway? What was up with that?

Now that he’d been brought out here, all he could do was look around—and promptly freak out the closest Pokémon by twisting his head in that freaky 180-degree turn that most would balk or even cringe at.

But he could do it just fine!

What was up with that?!

A sunny day, a bit windy however, and kinda hot. A nice temperature to be outside! The bird pokemons were singing, everyone seemed happy and... Wait, did I just get left to the daycare? Master Balder, why? You're heading somewhere dangerous and don't want to hurt me? But I wanna be with you! Please don't leave me behind! I don't want to be alone again![break][break]

It was on this sad note that Blaze remained in the daycare, sulking in the corner of the field. Why would his master leave him behind like that? Had he been a bad boy? Was it because he had almost burned down some trees during the previous adventure? or roasted a black-dressed individual that seemed to be hurting pokemons? That didn't make sense... [break][break]

Suddenly, another pokemon was dropped in. A white and brown fluffball with two green leaves on the front. Another one to suffer his fate? Suddenly, the newly arrived turned his head backwards, looking right behind him. Or her. Blaze's eyes grew wide, intrigued by the pokemon. How could he do such a thing? Even the Wadjet, the black charizard, Blaze's epitome of epicness, couldn't do that! The charmander stood up and tried to do the same as the small owl, but quickly noticed he couldn't turn his head as far.[break][break]

If he can't do it... Maybe he can learn how to do it as he becomes bigger? And learning it now would be more efficient! A smile drawing back on his red face, Blaze decided to go meet the new pokemon and see if he could learn something from him! As he got close, Charmander extended his right arm, doing a gesture that he saw Balder do a couple of times since he was with him. "Char Chaar!" Hopefully the Rowlett would understand that he wanted to be friend and welcome him.

Well, Lionel had managed to scare away most of the other Pokémon that were approaching him—but there was this one that didn’t seem to be too cowed with what he did. In fact he kept his stare on the Fire-type as he? she? Tried to imitate what he could do.

Instead of being able to twist its head that far back, the Fire-type ended up doing a funny sort of twirl before approaching him. With ever so curious eyes, the Rowlet decided to fly over and hold out a wing—his left wing—in exchange.

“Row. Rowlet?” he asked, doing the freaky head-turning thing again and showing the Charmander the back of his head before twisting it back into its normal position. “Rowlet!” he tried again, hoping that the Fire-type could follow him.

Just…how far could he bend his head? Lionel could only take a guess, because out of all of the other companions that his spiky-headed human owned, he was pretty sure he was the only one who could be able to do the freaky head-spinning thing without killing himself.

It set him apart from the other Grass-types, he knew that the Meganium called him a ‘freak of nature’ or something like that. And he wasn’t happy about that, either.

Lionel wants to say hi! He's also asking 'why can't you do the thing I can do'.

The Owl flew to him, and offered his wing instead of a hand, or paw. Charmander smiled and shook it gently, to not damage the feathers. A new friend in this location, that was something that the fiery lizard did not expect. There was at least something making him happy from being here and... abandoned by his master out of nowhere. But thinking that now would only sour the moment.[break][break]

The Rowlet proceeded to twisting his head again, as if it was trying to show the Charmander how to do it. "Char..." Blaze nodded, observing as the owl did the head spin once more. The lizard then tried to replicate the movement, using his hands to help turn his head, but to no avail. He couldn't turn further then his shoulder, as the pain got too much.[break][break]

Failing his attempt again, the creature fell on his butt, looking somewhat depressed. "Mander..." Here he had hoped to learn a new trick to amaze his master and make him regret leaving him here, but maybe it's not gonna be so easy after all... What could he do? What can he learn, or become, to erase this loneliness?

It wasn’t until much later when he saw the Fire-type trying to do the exact same thing he was perfectly capable of did he understand just why the Meganium with his human companion had called him a ‘freak of nature’ the moment he’d tried to impress the older Grass-type with his freaky ‘thing’.

Only fellow Rowlet were capable of doing that, and he just happened to be one of those. “Row,” he tries again, walking—more like waddling—over to where the Charmander is and helping him up. “Rowlet, row,” he continues, emphasizing that it’s not a big deal that the Fire-type can’t do it and that he’s alright the way he is right now.

“Roooow,” he adds, pointing over at one of the Berry-laden bushes. Boy, he was hungry and he wanted a snack. But he wasn’t going to go there alone, he wanted the Charmander to come along with him.

“Rowlet?” Lionel asks again, waiting for the other to join him, having taken the lead towards the bush. There… there wasn’t any food around the area, so he took it as a sign that it was safe to raid this bush and start eating from it?

In the dual-type’s defense, there were other Pokémon that were doing it, too!

Not just them.

Lionel assures that it's no big deal, and if he's hungry, would he like to follow him for some Berry snacks? He hungry.

Hearing the soft chirp of his new friend, Blaze looked up, small tears glistening on his cheeks. With the help of Rowlet, the Charmander got up on it's feet, still looking somewhat disappointed and depressed with himself. What could he do to make his master happy? To be with him even more? Blaze only wanted to not be left behind again, to be abandoned again...[break][break]

The bird companion tried to cheer him up, making blaze smile softly. What a kind fellow. "Char." The creature nodded, agreeing that how he is right now is perfect and that he shouldn't worry about it for now. And then, the owl pointed a bush, where some other pokemons seemed to be eating from. There did seem to have a lot of variety upon the tree too! Maybe the couple at the entrance had placed it for this purpose?[break][break]

Blaze's stomach growled, making the creature blush a bit as he covered his stomach with his chubby arms. "Char... Mander!" Happily, the lizard followed his new friend to the bush. Thus, he proceeded to grab a berry from it and offer it to the Rowlet. "Char Char?" He was offering the berry he found the freshest to his new friend, hoping he would like it.

If there was one thing that brought Pokémon together it was the scent of these delicious Berries. Seeing as this particular bush had yet to be stripped down, Lionel presumed they were lucky enough to find this one.

Hearing a bit of a growling noise coming from the Charmander, he does the weird, freaky head-spinning thing again before letting out a bit of a chuckle—only to be met with the same, similar noise coming from his own insides. Oops.

Apparently both of them hadn’t eaten yet!

Chirping a bit, he flies up with his stubby wings, looking for one of the bigger Berries to pluck and bring back down so that they could share it—while he was a picky eater, yes, the Rowlet also wanted to share his food. He couldn’t eat everything in one go, he wasn’t that greedy now.

Well, at least he wasn’t as greedy as most other Rowlets were when it came to Berries.

“Row! Let!” he exclaims, dropping one of the biggest Berries he’d spotted atop the bush, it was really lucky not too many other Pokémon had come by to eat here yet. Nudging it forward with his entire body, the big Berry continued to roll before coming to a stop in front of the Fire-type.

Holding up a wing, he offers the first bite to his new friend.

He wants to share the biggest Berry there is :eyes:

As both of them were hungry, Charmander chuckled a bit with its new friend before the creature flew off, plucking a berry for them. As it landed in Blaze's hands, the Rowlet offered him the first bite, but the lizard could not agree to this. The future dragon decided to slice the berry in two distinct halves, offering one to his friend. After the Rowlet surely took it, Charmander began to roast the berry over the flame on his tail.[break][break]

As the fruit finished roasting, the lizard moved his tail away, closed his eyes and bowed to the food, as if to thank the food gods to have blessed this berry. And then, in a single bite, Charmander devoured the entire berry half he had. After savoring the roasted taste, the lizard swallowed the food and smiled. Bringing its hands together, he began to do a motion he had seen Balder do. "Charman." A pokemon expert might understand this as "Thank you for the food". The lizard now looked at the owl, waiting for him to be done eating.

we can wrap this up after your last post! This is post #5 for me!

Lionel watched in wonder, instead of the Charmander getting the first bite—there was a slashing gesture before him, he was about to let out a cry of surprise—instead, the Berry he was offering was split down the middle.

Equal halves, for both of them to share.

He continued to watch as the other then reached over and roasted said Berry with the flame on his tail, turning it this way and that a few moments before being satisfied with how it was cooked. What followed right after really made him turn his head at a sharp 90-degree angle—what was he doing?

Was it some kind of… praise? Gratitude? He didn’t know, but for some reason there was something nagging at Lionel’s mind that reminded him that this was something he should be familiar with.

After the Berry was devoured, he then looked at his half, before slowly, surely, chipping away at it. Even though there were Berry stains all over his mouth, he continued to eat his share, finally done a few minutes later. He was a righteous mess, but he waved his wing over where his stomach was.

“Row. Let!” he mentioned, indicating that he was full, before taking a bit of a bow; his way of thanking the Charmander for sharing the meal with him today.

Lionel bows, his way of saying "Thank you for the food!". He finds the gratitude ritual familiar, but can't place why. It's like he should know this!

The lizard smiled upon seeing the Rowlett do a similar gesture then him. In the end, it hadn't been a bad thing for Balder to leave him here. The reason why he had been left here was saddening, if anything, but if that had not happened, he would've never met the owl that he had now befriended. But now, he had a friend he could rely on if something ever happened.[break][break]

Suddenly, a familiar smell came under the Charmander's nose. The pokemon turned it's head, trying to identify where the smell came from. Suddenly, from the entrance, he could see a tall figure waving at him. Could it be? Was the Alolan Avenger already back for him? The fire lizard stood up, but dared not to move. Not yet at least.[break][break]

The Charmander extended a hand to his new friend. Maybe they didn't spend much time together, but it was a good time nonetheless. And to finish their meeting, the lizard want to shake "hands" with the Rowlett before leaving. Assuming the owl does shake his hand, the Charmander would smile before running off to be reunited with his trainer.
