Her father was a researcher on Guren Island (Cinnabar) - whilst her mother was a research fellow at a large, scientific thinktank within Kanto - though her group operated on an international level. When Naomi was born it was determined that she would have a more stable upbringing if she were not constantly uprooted and forced to travel where her mother's work might take her. And so Naomi was born and raised on Cinnabar Island - a small city within Kanto's borders that offered little to do for the restless, wandering spirit of a child. Yet Naomi recalls it was always a beautiful and picturesque place next to many others she has encountered since.[break][break] Naomi took an interest in science at an early age and clung to the coattails of her father's lab coat. She was always incredibly smart - adept both at learning new and difficult concepts and the abstract thinking to apply what she learned to other fields and problems without much syntax or context needed from others. In short she was a perfect little academic who could think critically, learn easily, memorize anything - and use what she learned in ways that others simply did not think to. She was placed initially in Kanto's public education system - but she outgrew it quite easily. She graduated high school by age fourteen with top marks that made previous "valedictorians" blush. And her education and love of learning did not stop after high school - she saw university as simply one more game, one more challenge.[break][break] Cue her fifteenth year, where Naomi entered university. This required her to leave Cinnabar Island for the first time in her life. Well, of course she had left the island before, physically. But this would be her first time to see the wide world beyond that small island's borders. Naomi ventured to Celadon and Saffron - and did quite well in college. She graduated Kanto's most prestigious, private university on pure academic scholarship by the tender age of eighteen. And she was hired straight out of college to work in a small lab in Unova's P2 laboratory - where she became a leading researcher of Pokémon genetics. While getting a double doctorate.[break][break] Finally - and most recently - at age Twenty Naomi Sonezaki received her PhD in both Genetic Engineering and Pokémon Biological Sciences. She was swiftly offered a variety of jobs all of which turned the world into her Cloyster. She accepted a job at the Weather Institute on Route 119 - where she was told her talents would be put to good use. Not quite sure how a Meteorology Center would use applied sciences like Biology and Genetics, she accepted nonetheless due to both good monetary compensation and a chance to see a new and mysterious part of the world. She ventures now into Hoenn with only one goal remaining to her: to be a stand-out researcher in this new land, and make both discoveries and history with her contributions to Pokémon-based scientific advancements.
