Project Nighthawk

It's a project brought on by the Kalosian military to create capable soldiers for the hierarchy in their region. Such was kept under tight wraps given the complexity of the program. Some doctors were obsessed with the idea of eugenics: that they could take the best traits in people and create what the program deemed 'super soldiers.' It was simple when it boiled down to it -- people were paid handsomely for their contributions and their silence. There were five subjects in total and you just happened to be one of the lucky ones.

There's a discomfort in never knowing your parents, never having a family name to yourself. The five of you were divided among certain teams: you were graced to be under a Doctor by the name of Matthieu Wojazer. The man was kind, but he made the stance that your relationship was that of a scientist and their test subject. The lack of proper nurturing steeled your nerves for a seemingly emotionless soldier. Even as a child, you viewed the world in a simple black and white. Everything was clear cut for you. Objective over feelings, reason over emotion.

Some scientists had begun to abandon ship, but luckily Doctor Wojazer seemed dedicated to the cause. To him, creating super soldiers was a failsafe to protect the Kalosian crown. But he grew too close to you, and perhaps that was the first time in your life you ever experienced a human connection. It was so warm and comforting, but you knew you couldn't afford to seek more than that. You were a weapon above all else.

The training became nothing short of inhumane. While you were left emptying your guts onto the training mats, some of your fellow subjects weren't as lucky. Cardiac arrest wasn't a dignified way to go, but their bodies couldn't keep up. You were fortunate, or maybe your will to live was stronger.

Two years shy of completion and the project fell through. Only three of you were left as a display of the military's prowess. Despite the lack of funding, the three of you were deemed worthy to be sold off to those a part of the Kalosian hierarchy. The money they gained from the three of you would make up for what they lost when the project was put to a halt. (No one knew why, perhaps the studies done were revealed and deemed inhumane? The military decided to pull the plug prematurely? You didn't know yourself, you were just a puppet.)

Twelve years you served a variety of Kalosian nobles in jobs both big and small. You were their guard, their hitman, and at times their distraction. It was hard to say you cared for any of them, but something about the time you spent with them made you feel more human -- that social interaction you desperately craved, an exposure to the outside world. For that much, you offered them jobs that were nothing less than perfect. You were their hunting dog, and as one particular lord referred to you as, "Teufelshund." Apparently it was a word from a region he originally hailed from that meant "devil dog." (Were you no more than that? A dog?)

Your current objective lead you to Hoenn. What it entails is simply tying up loose ends, eradicating scientists who left Project Nighthawk to approach their independent endeavors. But hunting them down will take a while, and you've found Hoenn to be quite cozy. It feels foreign to be offered this freedom.
