Though much has changed, some things never will. The way his heart rate picks up as Temp kisses him, the tingle it sends through his skin, the way he parts his lips to respond in kind. It is not a heat borne of lust, but of love.[break][break]

It fades to a gentler warmth as Temp pulls back.[break][break]

Though Rocket kept him busy, his leash was not so tight that he couldn't work lunch into his schedule. He could even cut into his training time for the first few weeks, to give his body time to adjust without the added pressure of an intense workout.[break][break]

With it, an unspoken promise that he would, too. That they'd sleep together tonight, rather than apart.

There is still that innate desire to protest. How his mind is whirling with his current obsession, to write down his swirling thoughts in journals as if to keep them contained in a place outside of his skull.[break][break]

Instead Temp smiles and nods with a hum.[break][break]

It had been too long since Tempest had held the other, allowed legs and arms to tangle together. The feeling of their warmth shared under blankets.[break][break]

And in the morning, eyes sticky with sleep, Tempest would kiss Cillian Quinn awake. Even with morning breath, with fuzzy hair and cowlicks, they would be together still.[break][break]

The ache of two broken hearts shifting to heal after so long apart.
