The Pacifidlog Gym was once a large military ship. When it was decommissioned, instead of being used as spare parts or scrap it was overhauled into a research vessel. The Gym sails between Slateport and Pacifidlog but will go out to any place it's needed. The specializations of the crew on board is rescue and rehabilitation of injured marine life as well as general behavioral research. The staff on board often work closely with the Rangers in case of emergencies. Many of the lower decks are off limits to challengers as to not disturb the work going on.

FORMAT ONE: TRADITIONAL

A 1v1 battle that takes place on the main deck of the ship. The arena is an open air swimming pool that's been re-purposed for combat. Stone pillars have been placed in the water to allow non-aquatic pokemon places to land, just keep in mind they may be disadvantaged.

FORMAT TWO: NON-TRADITIONAL A

A 1v1 battle that takes place out in the open ocean. Watch out! Nature is abound and you may occasionally have unexpected interruptions.[break][break]

In this battle format, the challenger will ROLL each round. When the cumulative score reaches 75 or higher, an INTERRUPTION will occur. The challenger will then have to find a way to deal with the interruption while battling. When the interruption occurs, the score will reset to 0. Multiple interruptions could happen in one battle![break][break]

For this style of battle, how challengers deal with interruptions may have a greater impact on success more-so than winning the battle itself![break][break]

This challenge requires an aquatic pokemon. Challenger will be provided with diving gear if needed.

FORMAT THREE: NON-TRADITIONAL B

Challenger may bring up to three pokemon for this challenge! This is the preferred method of badge acquisition for the Gym Leader, as he feels this challenge most accurately showcases the educational objective. The Gym Leader will take the challenger out into the wild and present them a problem.[break][break]

The challenger is expected to find the reason that the problem is occurring and then (if possible) solve the problem. This challenge requires out of the box thinking as the most obvious solution may not always be the correct one! The Gym Leader will judge your skills at being able to solve problems creatively and use your critical thinking skills.[break][break]

An aquatic pokemon is recommended for this challenge but not required. Challenger will be provided diving gear if required.

RULES [break] break 'em and i'll cry!

I. In the Traditional Challenge, pokemon that are extremely large or heavy will be barred from participation. It is a ship, after all, and we don't need to sink it. There are no size limits for the Non-Traditional options.[break][break]

II. Auto Fainting moves like Perish Song and Destiny Bond are forbidden. OHKO moves are also forbidden.[break][break]

III. No Legendary, Mythical, or otherwise Special pokemon allowed. The Gym Leader will not use these on you unless requested or agreed upon before the battle. This only applies to Traditional Challenge and Non-Traditional A.[break][break]

IV. No Z-Moves, Mega Evolution, Ultra Burst, ect - The Gym Leader will not use these on you unless requested or agreed upon before the battle. This only applies to Traditional Challenge and Non-Traditional A.[break][break]

V. You can't showcase how much you love nature while recklessly endangering your own, the Gym Leader's, or any wild pokemon that may be present. If you main, injure, or otherwise kill a pokemon in the battle or challenge you will fail. If the Gym Leader suspects you of abuse he will fail your challenge and also report you the authorities.[break][break]

VI. Slots will be open as they are available. When slots are not open, there is no Gym queue. If you posted while the slots are filled it will not reserve you a slot. You must post when slots are open and they are in a first come, first serve manner.
