"Sounds like Councilwoman Livy did a number on her, psychologically." He remembered the vitriol, the venom spat at him for the lies that Penelope had told.[break][break]

A soft sigh escaped his lips, running a hand through his hair. "I tried to get her to understand that the Councilwoman had used her avatar powers to compell me to speak, but she wasn't having any of it."[break][break]

There was a pregnant pause in the air, as though Rowan wasn't sure if he should continue to comment. Still, the words got the better of him. "I thought of all people she might understand, after..." [break][break]

He snapped off the end of that sentence like a rotten limb, glancing towards his brother with a knowing look.

"If he bothers you again, let me know, I'll take care of it." He might not have had the same clout he'd had in Team Rocket before, but he'd risk another stint in the brig in order to keep Razz safe.[break][break]

A warm smile pulled at the corners of Rowan's lips, reassuring, as he took a step forward and wrapped an arm around their shoulder. "It's not too far from here, I'll show ya'."

[attr="class","rowwtw"]"Things change." Rowan said grimly, a hand instinctively moving to touch the cloth that covered his missing eye. Had they changed for the best? Who could say. All that mattered to him that was he was with Gavin, Lulu, and Adrian once more even if the former two had yet to forgive him.[break][break]

In face of Tapu Koko, Rowan spat on the dirt, taking a measured step towards Thomas. "I misplaced my trust in a Legend, I won't make the same mistake again." A sharp whistle escaped from Rowan's lips, issuing an attack command as the Dazzling Gleam rippled across the battlefield.[break][break]

Rowan turned from the blinding light, but Swampert didn't. The sadistic Pokémon took the blast head on, seemingly as a challenge to itself before their throat ballooned with a viscous substance. [break][break]

MUD BOMB burst forth from the Pokémon's mouth, aiming the blast directly for Thomas instead of their Pokémon, hoping that one of their companions would be loyal enough to take the hit.

[attr="class","rowwtw"]Needles pierced Samurott's hide, setting their shell ablaze with flame and yet evoking no reaction from the Shadow Pokémon. In spite of the damage it took, the Samurott seemed singularly focused on the destruction of this man and their Golisopod, nothing would stop this predator from reaching it's prey. [break][break]

Even if his Pokémon didn't, Rowan faltered momentarily at their pleas. A hand reached up to grip his splitting skull, feeling the fragmented memories of his former life creeping their way in before finally...[break][break]

"I don't care." Rowan released the grip on his head and swiftly pointed a finger towards the Golisopod and let out a sharp whistle, issuing an attack command.[break][break]

In a flash, Samurott charges forward, water swirling around it like a tempest, extinguishing the flames on it's back. With a swift and fluid motion, it draws upon the energy within, sharpening it's carapace with a RAZOR SHELL before colliding with Golisopod.

Adrian was reaching out but still didn't want to see him, was this progress or regression? Their previous relationship had been so intensely physical that this felt entirely foreign.[break][break]

"Rowan, Rowan Wrynn." Rowan moved some hair away from his good eye with a hand before returning Mistral to their Pokéball, after receiving a pat of recognition, of course. "You alright?"[break][break]

Of course he wasn't, Razz was in the submarine and didn't recognize him. What was going on?

An amused smirk tugged at the corners of his lips now, speaking the name with a tone dripping in irony. A hand reached to the row of Pokéball's on his belt, plucking one free. [break][break]

"Sorry to say this is where your campaign against Team Rocket ends." The orb in Rowan's hand expanded, cracking open at the center and bringing forth the Swampert contained within.[break][break]

Atlas roared, pounding it's chest with fervent ferocity at the prospect of battle. The Pokémon had suffered underneath his misgivings before, taking the blame for the murder of Noah Faber's Machamp when Rowan knew full well what would happen if he let them loose.[break][break]

He didn't get much pleasure from attacking civilians, but orders were orders and he couldn't afford to be insubordinate, not anymore.[break][break]

"Perhaps whomever you're waiting for will come save you." A sharp whistle erupted from the Rocket's pursed lips, issuing a command to his Pokémon.[break][break]

Darkness coalesced violently around the Samurott's form, muscular hind legs propelling them forward toward Gideon with the full force of a SHADOW RUSH.

Sleep didn't come easily to him anymore, dreams were fragmented and broken and nightmares were more vivid than ever, staying awake seemed the preferable alternative. [break][break]

"Adrian?" An eyebrow rose as he read the text, not expecting to hear from them this late, especially not after their relationship ended. A few quick taps at the keyboard and the message was sent, short and succinct. [break][break]

In a way, Rowan felt relief that he wouldn't have to come face-to-face with the Head Ranger just yet. Ollie was one of the few in the League to give him the benefit of the doubt, and he'd willfully broken that trust by returning to Team Rocket.[break][break]

This unfamiliar face, however, would serve an adequate distraction from his guilt-ridden thoughts. A miasmatic cloud of darkness began to coalesce in the area around GIDEON GRAVES as SHADOW MIST rolled in. [break][break]

"Looking for someone?" Rowan approached from the cover of the mist, his Shadow Samurott dutifully following at his side. "Me too."

[attr="class","rowwtw"]A command didn't need to be issued, Mistral sprung into action the moment they saw Golem go after their trainer. The Empoleon closed the distance between them and the ground-type in the blink of an eye, body wrapped in the raging waters of AQUA JET. [break][break]

Pokémon slammed into each other with a force enough to shake the halls of the submarine, dirt and water flinging in all directions to create a muddy canvas on the metal.[break][break]

Rowan turned to Razz, nodding towards the Golem. "Want to do the honors to this bellend?" He smirked, slipping the blade back into it's sheath.

Emotion would need to be stifled for the moment, Adrian didn't deserve to feel guilty after everything he'd done to bring them to this point. "I will take good care of it." [break][break]

Voice trembled ever so slightly as Rowan slipped the ring into his jacket pocket, feeling his chest similarly sink into the blackness all the while wearing an insincere smile on his face. "Hopefully one day, then..." [break][break]

Rowan pushed himself up from the rocks abruptly, stepping away from Adrian to wrap his face in the dark cloth once more, discreetly wiping away tears that formed. "Are you planning on staying with Rocket?"[break][break]

It was a question that deemed asking, considering Adrian had only remained for his own sake after he'd defected to the League. "You don't owe Cillian anything, anymore." Whether or not that was fully true, Rowan didn't know.
