[attr="class","rowwtw"] Wind whipped violently on the shores of Ever Grande City, the sea ahead consumed by darkened clouds, occasionally illuminated by the crack of lightning streaking across the skies. The drone of air raid sirens drowned out the violent crashing of waves against the shore, tearing away sand in swathes, ripping apart abandoned vessels on the shore. In the distance, a gargantuan form could be seen breaching the water, drawing closer to the capital city with each passing moment. [break][break]

Rowan stood ready, Mistral at one side, and Boreas at the other. "What's the plan, boss?" He shouted over the din, eye shifting to look at Ollie. It was hard enough to believe that skyler dross had lost control of the Pokémon, but now it was on a rampage? What had occurred to create such a drastic turn?[break][break]

For the moment, the approach of one Tempest Quinn went unnoticed, his concern directed towards the loosed Legendary and mitigating the situation at hand.

[attr="class","rowwtw"]Doggo? Rowan couldn't not have Doggo. This was his opportunity to balance Bijou (his Persian)'s nature with something less capricious. "Oh, Bijou is gonna hate you." Rowan grabbed a Pokéball from his waist, lining up the the throw that he needed on the canine.[break][break]

This wasn't the day of his daughter's wedding, Rowan wasn't pulling them back in when they though they were out, and they certainly weren't Henry Hill. "Here goes nothing." A throw launched forward, hoping to capture the Pokémon.[break][break]

A sigh of relief escaped his lips, gently rubbing the bruises on his throat from where the Dhelmise had attempted to drown him. [break][break]

The danger had subsided, but so too had a tenuous pact he'd made with one Tempest Quinn. A glance about the immediate crowd didn't reveal the Rocket, fortuitously. Now would be the time to leave, if he wanted to go unnoticed and unmolested.[break][break]

"Hey, I gotta go, see you around." He muttered to Aidan Hereford, using their larger frame as cover momentarily before slipping into the gathered crowd. One last look was made towards Adrian Malcolm and Lulu Flint as he passed each of them, the sense of sad longing for their presence evident in his eyes before they turned to the swamp.[break][break]

With his Swampert at his side, Rowan disappeared into the murk like the Mud Boy he was. He didn't look back as he made his escape, once more running in fear from the choices of his past, hiding from the consequences that were beset upon him.[break][break]

Like the coward he was.

"Thought I could trust my brother to not sell me out to declan walsh, I was wrong." He turned back to Ollie, the hurt evident in his eyes as he sized up the other man, attempting to suss out their intentions.[break][break]

"Fisher-man, no." That was simply a side-effect of his self-imposed isolation, the need for sustenance. "I would say I don't know what I am, but I have a feeling you're here to tell me I'm a Ranger, yeah?" Why else would someone come looking?

"I drew up a map, what I've explored so far." He was far from a cartographer, but he'd done his best to make it easy to understand and follow. "I'd be happy to keep up my work, if you'd like." The offer was acknowledged, the friendly smile remaining plastered on his face, glad to be working with his friend again.[break][break]

"There's quite a few caves I've yet to delve, some parts of the deeper canopy I haven't cut through." The inventory was taken aloud, for both of their benefits. "It'd be my pleasure."

Rowan assumed the man had no choice but to pursue him to ensure their own safety, but were they really capable of killing their own brother?[break][break]

"That's how important it was for me, Gavin!" Rowan spat, his fists clenching ever so slightly. "I knew and I still wanted to leave!" Why couldn't they see that? The decision wasn't arrived at lightly, this was something he'd agonized over for months.[break][break]

"Call me what you want, selfish, a coward. Maybe it's all true, but at least I have my freedom now! I'm not chained to the will of a madman who would rather doom the entire region than let the League gain the upper hand!" The Inteleon advanced closer to Cillian, slithering between the headstones in case they decided to open fire.[break][break]

"I loved you, and Saoirse. You were the only family that ever gave a damn about me, and you still handed that letter to Walsh." He grimaced, the pain of betrayal evident in his eyes. The cringe was evident on Rowan's face, even if the man was simply referring to their own Pokémon. That word had been decimated forever, it no longer could be seen in any context except the unholy in the former Beast's mind. "Arceus..." He bemoaned as he saw the man take cover, leaving him to deal with the situation alone.[break][break]

"Sirocco, Hydro Pump, cut a hole!" A finger pointed towards where the swirling swarm was weakest. The Pelipper's gullet swelled with water, gathering into a massive payload before being unleashed outwards.[break][break]

As intended, the powerful gout of water burst open a hole in the wall of avians, disbursing them momentarily. "Come on, mate!" Rowan gesture towards the manufactured exit, but didn't hesitate to head forth first himself, Sirocco in tow.

"I told you Aidan, we are living in a simulation! All of this was created by the Unown, we're just programs imagined by ancient architects!" He shouted, perhaps a bit louder than he intended. After what he'd seen in The Cloud and lived in the alternate Galar, was it really all that farfetched?[break][break]

All the ranting and raving in the world didn't stop the Porgyon, however. "I'm gonna catch me an Agent Smith..." Fumbling for an empty Pokéball, he finally managed to grasp one after dropping a couple onto the pavement. "I know Kung-Fu!" Rowan declared as he launched one of the Pokéballs towards a Porygon.

[attr="class","rowwtw"]A small smile curled at Rowan's lips as he watched Mika work, already seeing the promise that the Ranger held. Good, it would be nice to have someone else he could rely on when Rocket came knocking on his door. [break][break]

Still, he couldn't help but notice the Torkoal that were preparing to attack his partner's flank. "Watch out!" Rowan warned, letting out a sharp whistle to direct his own Pokémon into movement.[break][break]

Phione flitted forward through the air, forcing themselves between Mika and the Torkoal before summoning an AQUA RING around them. The flamethrowers struck the watery barrier, dissipating into steam at the giggling pleasure of the Phione. [break][break]

As soon as the imminent danger passed, Rowan issued a verbal command this time. "Take them out, Whirlpool." Phione surged forward on the air, spinning around and around the errant Torkoal in a circle to gather an aquatic tornado around them, cooling the Pokémon and hardening their shells solid, rendering them temporarily inert.
