It had been months since Rowan found himself in the comforts of civilized society, having thrown himself into the simplicity of the wilderness in order to re-align his thoughts. The alternative Galar and his experiences within had broken Rowan, shattering his mind and his heart. It was only among the silence of nature that he'd found some semblance of solace. [break][break]

"Come, Mistral." He summoned the Empoleon beside him, the pair stepping through the brush of their new ground, Mirage Island. It wasn't long into this travel that he spotted something out of the ordinary from the verdant canopy. A wisp of pink and lace flashed before him in the clearing ahead, a shape and voice that he couldn't forget, no matter how he'd tried.[break][break]

"Melody?" Rowan called out, with some hesitation, stepping into the clearing to see his former friend in full view. "Is that you?"

She adjusts the bow that kept her ponytail in place as she walked on the island. She had been wandering about the island, thinking of recent events with Navy, with ollie morales, her past. [break][break]

She was lost in thought as the pokemon of the island played all around her, things here had been looking better thanks to recent people joining the team and helping her like freya morningstar. [break][break]

However, a ghost from her past appears suddenly, calling her name. She turns around to meet the ghost's gaze and she's speechless as she sees Rowan Wrynn, standing there. "Rowan?" she says as she instinctively moves her hand towards a pokeball but she stills herself. If he had wanted to attack her, he would've done so without revealing his cover. [break][break]

"W-What are you doing here?"

A swift blur of movement to his right and the rush of wind eclipsed his words as the thudding stomps of feet against grass crossed the clearing in mere moments, rapidly approaching one Melody Miro. [break][break]

Mistral scooped the woman up in it's arms and squeezed her tight, spinning her around slightly as he held her in the forcible embrace. "Mistral..." Rowan sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose slightly as the Empoleon hugged Melody enthusiastically. "Sorry, he's shed that characteristic angst now that he's evolved." The original exhaustion he felt at the scene soon turned to a small smile, admittedly glad Mistral had done it before he'd had the chance to make a fool of himself and do the same.[break][break]

"We were scouting out this island, planned on settling here for a few weeks, assuming we didn't come across any Rocket activity."

Melody panics at first as an empoleon rushes past rowan and to grab her. However, when she expects to feel pain from the contact, she instead felt dizzy as the Pokémon named mistral embraces her and spun rapidly. [break][break]

She realizes it was THEE mistral she had watched for so long "You evolved?!" she said suddenly as Melody had recalled her telling rowan why he had gone through such a troubled evolution stage. "Look at you now mistral! You're so big!" she says ruffling the feathers on his stomach. Did this mean that during their last encounter he really did mean it? Would Mistral have evolved without that? [break][break]

Rowan fills the potential awkward silence with conversation, speaking of scouting out this area "Uh..Rowan you realize I own this island...right?" she asks him "This is Home Island or I guess formerly known as Mirage island. But I'm in charge of this place now." she says as in the distance there were several pokemon who had been watching and waiting from the tree lines, some were afraid, some curious, others angry at the presence of an unknown human here but they all stared at her, gauging her reaction to him. She waves at them as they calm slightly.

The Empoleon had evolved larger than the average of their kind, no doubt because of their extended period of evolution prior.[break][break]

"No, I had no idea, actually." Rowan gestured for Mitral to rejoin him at his side, to which the Pokémon complied. "I've been away for a few months, laying low from Team Rocket." There was a wild look in Rowan's eyes now, where innocence had once sat before. His sojourn had hardened his body, and Galar had fractured his mind.[break][break]

"Guess you're doing pretty well for yourself, since you bought an island." He chuckled, crossing both arms over his chest. "What are you planning on doing with it?"

She remembers their last encounter, it had been leaving a pit in her stomach. "Yeah, it's not for me though, it's for them." she says moving her hand to the pokemon who were hiding in the treeline. "It's to rehome pokemon who've been through some stuff..cause of you know..hoenn." she says as it's clear she's avoiding also saying their name. [break][break]

"I'm not good at this. So I'm just gonna say it, I'm sorry." she blurts out as the word vomit immediately comes out of her mouth, unable to repress her feelings for much longer "For how I acted...last time."

"A noble cause, not that I'd expect any less from Melody Miro." He smiled, half sincere, half teasing. Despite their last encounter, he still thought highly of the woman and her dedication to the greater good of the region.[break][break]

A wince crossed Rowan's features as she mentioned the incident, half-convinced that she was able to read his mind. "You don't need to apologize to me, Mel. I betrayed your trust, manipulated you." A soft sigh escaped his lips, crossing both arms over his chest defensively, hiding his shame behind them.[break][break]

"But that doesn't excuse the fact I attacked you when you had come to seek out peace." she adds on. "Especially when you were trying to repent.." it wasn't her best shining moment in her career, one she'd rather never talk about again if she could help it. [break][break]

She knew now the difference between people who made mistakes and those who were evil.
