Cillian Quinn makes it seem so easy.[break][break]

Maybe it is. Maybe the megalomania that happened within the hearts of most Avatars were just them twisting themselves into the worst version of themselves. Tempest had already been shaped into that person by his husband's hands. He didn't need some wannabe-god to make him something worse than he already was. Yveltal would not have that sort of grip on him.[break][break]

Tempest had never thought he was weak enough to use Avatarship as a crutch.[break][break]

It was also nice to know that Cillian was still Cillian. Cillian was still a human inside of the shadows that cloaked his shoulders, even if his husband would deny it. If you stripped Lugia's powers away from him he would still be the same man.[break][break]

He would be no less deadly.[break][break]

Tempest would just have to prove he didn't need the overgrown bird to be just as strong.[break][break]

But... there were other concerns, as well....[break][break]

"I also don't want to be her slave." This is said with a bit more heat though not at Cillian. Just a general anger at Yveltal for what she had done to him. They would both also know of Adrian Malcolm's fate when he was trapped with Destruction.

Even though it had ripped his throat out the night before, Tempest doesn't flinch at the sudden shadowed claws.[break][break]

Yet it is something to think over. Cillian Quinn answers his question and it is much the same answer he was given when he asked it before. When he had been studying these things, trying to scry into where the line between 'human' and 'Avatar' had laid.[break][break]

What would he do with that, now?[break][break]

It is that same research, those same questions asked to so many others, that spring to life when Cillian asks him what.[break][break]

"I don't want to lose who I am."[break][break]

So many past and current Avatars, both Rocket and League, come to mind as he says it. The very core of who they were stripped and ripped away into twisted versions of themselves. Even Cillian wasn't who he was before.[break][break]

"I look different." Is said lamely. Felt different, too. So much was different.[break][break]

That string sitting in the back of his mind still thrummed with power. Tempest knew if he could just reach out and pull it that Yveltal's eyes would turn upon him.[break][break]

It felt strange, to know something could 'see' him without looking at him.[break][break]

Felt wrong.[break][break]

The disquiet from last night still sat fluttering and bleeding in his chest. It was easier to smother, now, but it hadn't vanished.[break][break]

If Tempest had been a different person, even if just circumstances had worked out in some other way, this might be a joyous occasion. Not the death, of course, but the power to rise from the ashes of it.[break][break]

There is so much that Tempest wants to say to Cillian Quinn right now. Apologies, explanations, catching up- a whole chunk of his life was just gone now. It was hard to wrap his head around. Right now, though, a small panic similar to last night's starts to unfurl.[break][break]

His grip tightens every so slightly on Cillian's hand.[break][break]

Tempest frowns slightly, brows knitting in brief confusion.[break][break]

Oh yeah.[break][break]

Tempest had only had the briefest of glimpses at himself since returning. It had made him physically ill. A towel had stayed over the bathroom mirror since then; Tempest suspected that Cillian had been replacing it for him. Whatever howard slayte was seeing, it wasn't who Tempest actually was.[break][break]

Tempest Quinn had also had a funeral.[break][break]

He shifts some in his seat, uncomfortable.[break][break]

Placing his chopsticks down, Tempest takes a deep breath as if steeling himself.[break][break]

"Howard," Is started, quiet. "I messaged you." A pause. He almost sounds apologetic when he speaks next. "Tempest."

There is a weight in Cillian's words that Tempest isn't quite ready to face yet. So he stays quiet and lets it sit.

They sit in reasonable silence for a bit.[break][break]

Not quiet comfortable for Tempest. There is still a tension that lingers just below the calm surface. It waits like a snake ready to strike, unseen and unknown. He hates it; being with Cillian Quinn hasn't made him feel like this since they were dating. Even then, it was more the butterflies from a giddy early relationship and learning to navigate the other.[break][break]

Tempest mind wanders. He thinks of the brief glance of himself in the mirror last night.[break][break]

"Am I ugly now?"[break][break]

Is that why you won't look at me?[break][break]

Sudden. Quiet. Tempest had always been more vain than people gave him credit. It was easy to play it off but he had always valued how he looked. Had always thought it was one of his very few worths in life. If people liked to look at him, maybe they would like him despite all the obvious flaws.[break][break]

Gold eyes trail down to stare at inky, stained black fingers. The veins are red and glow faintly under the skin.[break][break]

Elsewhere, Prince the Gardevoir was shit faced while Chu-e was none the wiser. But this is not about him.[break][break]

Temp has a plate full of food when he spots howard slayte. Grabbing his drink, the Hoyeon makes his way over to the other. It's just bad luck for Howard that he happens to approach from his blind side.[break][break]

His plate clinks on the table, a few grains of fried rice spilling onto the surface. A small grunt is given when he flops down in the seat across from the other. Tempest smiles at the man like he wasn't declared dead over a week and a half ago. Like he didn't... look different. The smile is toothy with two giant fangs. Glasses, reading ones picked up for cheap from how the frames look, do very little to hide a new golden glow to his eyes. Dark skin seems washed out like a dead body's. A long sleeved turtleneck, too hot for the Hoenn weather, can't hide the ominous red veins and patterning on the backs of his hands.[break][break]

Wooden chopsticks are split so they can pluck chicken off his plate.[break][break]

Tempest averts his eyes.[break][break]

Why weren't they alright?[break][break]

But before Tempest can brood about it too much longer, a group of League attacks. Drawn in by the explosion, Tempest huffs and narrows his focus onto the oncoming threat. An Eevee is called from his hip, Hati fluffing up her fur before dashing at a Breloom head on. She chars it to a crisp with a ruthless efficiency that matches her Trainer's.[break][break]

Tempest charges forward, fists raised to slam against a man's jaw. It cracks under the force with a loud crunch, leaving him on the ground writhing. A nearby woman tries to send her Lopunny at him, but Tempest snarls and meets the pokemon's eye. A flash of glowing, electric blue overtakes the gold of his own irises and the Lopunny lands with a dull thud on the ground, turned to stone. He kicks it and it shatters.

When Cillian Quinn bodily takes the bomb from him, tone dripping with venom, Raziel Beckett would see Tempest's face twist up. Maybe like he was about to cry, maybe like he was constipated, but he was frozen in a sort of jerky way that showed he was at least upset. He glanced at the younger man, then away, face darkening like he was ashamed. Of what, he didn't voice. Turning, he covered his face and turned away as if to protect from the blast. While still looking shaken, his face was very carefully blank.[break][break]

His smile was empty.[break][break]

"I'm alright." Voice quiet, he waved some of the dust and debris around from in front of his face; his nose wrinkled from the acrid stench of the poison being exposed as they exposed more and more of the fleshy walls. As the smoke cleared, something seemed to be half exposed. An odd shape.[break][break]

"What's that?" He asked, pointing vaguely at the point of the jagged red object still mostly embedded in the wall.

Seems that this was ending up a total blow up in all of their faces. Pun probably intended.[break][break]

Tempest followed after Raziel Beckett, opening his hands to accept the bomb from the other if the younger were willing to give it.[break][break]

"I can set it up. I don't think I can get hurt anymore." An unintended lie. Tempest could still feel pain, but wouldn't die if he sudden got blown up. He thought. How would that work? Would the whole thing grow back if he, say, lost a hand? It was strange to think about.[break][break]

"I think if we set it up over there, we might be able to bring a large section down." Tempest motioned sort of vaguely to a crack high up in the wall. It was pleasant. Cillian Quinn would recognize how when Temp spoke, it was without his usual boisterous tone. It was as if he was suddenly timid, keeping his voice quiet and unsure.

Flipping through the papers, Tempest hummed as he squinted at a star. It seemed right but... off....[break][break]

"I think this one might be upside down." He motioned to how he thought might make the Guzzlord pictured look better, as it if was fallen and defeated under the star-shaped pokemon. Maybe it was something from a previous battle? If it was, Tempest wasn't there for that so he didn't directly recognize it.[break][break]

One of the passing scientists cocked her head when Temp spoke. She watched as he took out a pencil and sketched (poorly) what he meant on the margins of the paper.[break][break]
