As of late, Lam had come to realize that his main roster rotation was running low on fire types. In order to mitigate that dilemma, it seemed like reviewing the Pokémon in his inventory was in order. And what better way to test them than to put them up against some of the grass types that littered route 119? [break][break]

It was a natural reaction to gravitate toward what fliers he had, but Lam went out of his way to work with something else instead. The torracat that sprang loose from its pokeball was a sulky lookin’ thing, but still pretty dang cute. “You know, you’re just like a big version of this litten my family has growing up.” Lam crouched next to it, reaching to give it a scratch under the chin. Though it remained haughty, it clearly enjoyed the chin rub.

“Figure I should come up with a good name for you..” Lam squints at the cat, but he ignores his trainer’s antics. Licking a paw apathetically until a vileplume trundles into view.[break][break]

“Alright, here’s a good one— show me whatcha got, torracat.” The feline’s tail lashes but it crouches into position. An afterthought crowds Lam’s mind though— “Oh, don’t get close, though! Don’t want it to poison you. They’re pretty nasty.”[break][break]

An annoyed chirp sounds from the torracat before he pelts with vileplume with FLAMETHROWER. Blossom hat smoldering, it scuttled away frantically.

“Not bad!” he praises the solid offense— this time earning a pleased meow from the torracat. It was only when he smiled down at it that the cat attempted to appear indifferent again.[break][break]

“Take two?” Lam asks, only to be met with enthusiasm from his new charge. He pointed at a lileep bobbing in the lazy breeze. “Try close quarters this time!”[break][break]

A yowl sounded from the torracat, and he darted forward, zigzagging across the grass and snapping down on the lileep’s stem with FIRE FANGS.

"Oh, never seen one of those before," he remarked aloud. It looked sort of like a tentacool, but its long, tentacle-y legs gave the impression of a noodle man waltzing up. Lam laughed, flapping a hand in indication to the torracat. "We'll catch this one, 'kay? Don't go too hard on it."[break][break]

Torracat yowled, attempting to trip it up with FURY SWIPES so that Lam could aim a pokeball and let it fly.
