THE PREVIOUS VISITOR HAD HELD THEIR HEAD HIGH. regal, with an authoritative title bestowed to them by this plane’s people. but what does that meant to someone from a place beyond? how can one apply conventional means to a civilization that expands beyond even their wildest imagination?

fernando silph comes with a different approach. he does not demand answers or look to strong arm his guest with intimidation or influence. he is a businessman. a person willing to make an exchange should trade prove fruitful.

so, he returns with gifts.

his first is a newspaper. his article of choice is the advent of MEGALOPOLANS living in sootopolis. working in conjunction with humans.

her greedy hands crumple the newspaper where ever they land, distorting headline and date with wrinkles and drool. smohke remains seated on the ground, limbs flailing about with glee—though one is a stump: a leg absorbed by a deoxys now owned by Amor Rose.[break][break]

"megalopolans like to return gifts with offerings of their own." the general pouts and shakes her head. "it's mega-sad i can't really give you anything in return."

his second gift lies in a damp velvet pouch. it smells of flesh. mild and subtle. too fresh to smell of rot just yet.

“have you been able to handle your hunger,” he asks with a teasing dangle. “the integration of humans and MEGALOPOLANS has progressed but remains measured. many fear your kind because you feed on us. yet, we feed on pokemon and still raise their brethren for purposes beyond consumption.”

he presents a parley. a test to see if she can become more than just living biography.

“being able to stomach our hunger and derive which are meant for food and which are meant for friendship is how we continue to coexist.”

"but as you kind of said, that goes the same for humans and pokemon? pokemon can wipe you out within a mega millisecond but you coexist."[break][break]

smohke sets the newspaper down, the pages dipping low where her leg once was.[break][break]

he sets the bag between them. well within reach, but one that requires an active choice. whether she partakes, saves for later, or rejects altogether is of no consequence. after all, she has earned her good faith.

“indeed. we face an enemy that threatens MEGALOPOLANS and humans alike.”

he goes on to give a brief overview of the DRK TRIAD. nothing too in-depth or worth detraction, but their story sets up the MEGALOPOLANS part in all of this. for they are not the only ones to have faced the DRK TRIAD.

“in ULTRA PLANT, we found MEGALOPOLAN logs about the DRK TRIAD. they have already quarantined that dimension in the same way they did hoenn.”

his nose wrinkles.

the megalopolan takes a sharp nail to her teeth, sliding it in between her fangs like a toothpick.[break][break]

"yeah, we saw one of them on our way to hoenn." she says, still picking away. "mega weird looking. wore glasses and crazy hair. they said we shouldn't be here but they'd let us through because they were curious."[break][break]

"every time we try to find another place to go, they try to stop us. sooooo very mega annoying!!"

“BECAUSE THEY WERE CURIOUS,” he repeats under the duress of half-formed suspicions. it doesn’t fit the DRK TRIAD’s modus operandi. while one may fit the description, it’s too early to assume with such a small sample size.

“i assume it was someone else who prevented you from traveling somewhere else?”

an important distinction. was hoenn the odd one out? an anomaly based on someone’s whim? or were they purposefully funneled.
