FERNANDO SILPH IS NO STRANGER TO CASUAL PUBS. he makes a good habit of visiting most as a way of pilgrimaging through specific cities. during slateport’s occupation, there was not a bar in lilycove that escaped his patronage.

it was a way to get to know the masses. to keep his taste wide and cultured. and, to meet and entangle with team rocket’s underbelly. a once warm place of comfort with his previous councilman now is forever besmirched due to an unruly underboss.

a though that fernando rarely reflects on.

a glass is raised but even that does not pivot his attention. the world around him becomes a secondary task to juggle as he hones in on the television. even when he knocks the drink back, a sly eye traces the movement between NIDORINO and GENGAR.

it ends by the time his empty glass touches polished wood.

the lull between returning a pokemon and bringing out their next choice gives him a moment to break away. a chance to pivot his attention without losing out on anything substantial. small breaks that make watching pokemon battles digestible when handling a whole roster.

he points to it, right as it cuts to commercial break. funny enough, it’s an ad for DEVON CORP, a SILPH CO. company.
