Who knew that they were going to be under attack not too long after the competition?!

Holy shit, those are Godzilla-level kaiju Tentacruel. Wait. How the fuck did they get so big?! Lars thought in a bit of a panic. Sure, he’d seen large Pokémon but this was fucking ridiculous! Blinking to make sure he wasn’t hallucinating, he saw that there were two parties forming, and made hot tracks for the first one—not knowing that he would come into close proximity with the one person in the entirety of Hoenn he couldn’t stand.

But that would be for later.

Split-second thinking mattered in this, and he quickly plucked out a Heavy Ball, tossing it forward and watching as Ro, his Metagross, landed next to the Cradily—on its left side.

“Ro, no time for shock, chuck a Psychic right at that kaiju-monster. I don’t know how the hell big it got, just—go! Psychic!” he says to his hulking blue beast.

The Metagross braced himself in the shallow surf, before concentrating and firing off a chunk of rainbow-colored energy.

Thankfully, that first round scored a particularly powerful hit—Ro’s Psychic attack pummeling straight for the giant kaiju’s tentacles. He blinks, and then looks down at the water a few moments later—the clear blue is turning a slushy purple, and secretly he thanks his stars that he’s chosen Ro to fight because holy fucking shit that purple incoming tidal wave was a Sludge Wave and it pretty much swept over everyone else’s Pokémon!

Shit, so much for anyone who has Safeguard… he thought, looking at the other three Pokémon and seeing that due to their typing, they’d gotten Poisoned—but not his Ro. Thank the fuck for his part-Steel typing.

He was about to tell the Metagross to move to one side when he recognized a Hydro Pump attack headed Ro’s way—but manner of all magic, it was absorbed by the Cradily next to the Metagross. Such luck—but he knew that they had to end this quickly.

Seeing C’thulhu’s tentacles squirming, and the rest of the attacks headed right towards it, he pats one of Ro’s massive hulking legs, before pointing forward.

“Wouldn’t want to risk the Cradily floating. I know it’s dangerous. And I know it’s way bigger than most. But I know only you can do it,” he encourages the blue beast, who braces himself before he backs away and lets the Metagross angle himself forward slightly.

“Ro. Concentrate—and use Telekinesis! Lift it out of the water! As best as you can manage!”

A single lurch, followed by another—and then several as the Metagross pours its concentration into lifting the abnormally-large Pokémon out of the water ripples through the space in front of the blue beast as the Telekinesis attempts to lift the kaiju-sized monster out of the surf, hopefully away from the water.

So making the giant kaiju float was…probably a smart idea. Why probably?

Because he wasn’t expecting what happened next (like most of everyone else) to go right after him, of all people! Of all people.

The incoming kaiju tentacles should’ve been the warning sign that things were about to go due south in a few moments.

What he was absolutely not expecting, however, was the fact that one of C’thulhu’s giant-ass tentacles was going right for his Metagross, and managed to lift it up in the air! Wait—what in the ever-loving fuck HOW did it manage that shit?! He thought in a panic, blinking as the big hulking blue beast was deftly plucked from the shore and hoisted into the air with little effort.

“That’s not supposed to be possible,” he mutters darkly, his gaze shifting from the Metagross, to the other three—what a dire situation he’d found himself in. The upside to all this was that now that all the attention was on his Ro, and if ever the Metagross would be eaten (seriously, would that even happen) this gave them a window of opportunity.

That was, until he noticed the barrier that was protecting it.

Luckily for him—them?—the Metagross was closest to the barrier.

I was hoping not to have to use this, but guess I’ll have to! He thought, looking down at the accessory he wore on his left hand. Normally, he’d not have paid the steel ring any attention at all, but this was a dire necessity, and that made him look down at it before contemplating on what he was planning on doing. While he wanted to keep the existence of this a secret, the giant C’thulhu had ultimately forced his hand.

He knew he had that strangely-colored rock in the waterproof pouch he carried on him at all times, and hoped that this would be enough for Ro to break free from the tentacle that was now holding him and intent on using him like a gavel on all of them below. The weird rainbow rock on the ring accessory was shimmering brighter than ever, and all it took was one touch—one touch, to trigger the change.



Please, be safe! He thought as he watched the stone on his hand shining brightly moments after he’d touched it, concentrating on helping the Metagross get away and escape from the tentacles.

Taking one step forward, he took another deep breath, and looked up at where Ro had attempted to break free from the tentacle holding him, before looking at his companions. “You’re right, aim for the tentacles! But be ready to hold your ground if and when it tries to drop—hold that thought,” he says in the general direction of the three, seeing that they were preparing for something big.

Funneling all of their attacks in one direction—he thought it was a smart move as well.

“Ro! If you can hear me—use your Psychic! Help them take it down, drive it back, send it away from the shore!” he shouts, hoping that his voice doesn’t fall on deaf ears.
