“Why don’t we come out here more often? We should definitely do that.” Benji heaves out a sigh as he flops back against the grass. His furret tumbles in the pasture alongside him, noodle body pleased to be soaking up the warmth baked into the grass from the sunlight.[break][break]

This is way better than the fiascos he’s run into in other areas on his daily walks. After all, what chaos can unfold in a tranquil (and also warden-monitored) place like the safari zone?

Still stretched out in the grassy part of the meadow, he pillowed his arms under his head and let his eyes fall shut.
In the warm spring sunshine, he was content to stay right there for the foreseeable future.[break][break]

A shadow fell over his face, though, and he ignored it at first, figuring it was a passing cloud overhead. But then something slimy dragged up his cheek, and he opened brown eyes to meet round, green ones. “Hiiii puppy!” he immediately cooed, hands reaching to scratch the wiggly yamper’s ears. “What a good baby you areeee!”[break][break]

He was gonna have to take this lil guy home for sure!

The yamper stuck right by him, and Benji continued to pat him happily. The canine yipped and jumped around him, fully consuming the doc's attention. So much so that a moseying oranguru was able to lumber right by peacefully.

Deciding he’d endeared himself to the yamper enough, he reached out and tapped it with a safari ball as he sat up. As expected, it latched closed with little effort. Gratified, he stretched his arms up over his head and yawned. The warm sun served to make him plenty drowsy, but a low, frantic cooing soon pulled him into focus.[break][break]

It didn’t take long for him to spy the source—a bombirdier sprawled on the ground with a crooked looking wing. He frowned, and then pulled himself to wander over to the injured Pokémon cautiously. He murmured words of reassurance to it as its feathers ruffled up. Swinging his knapsack around, he fished out a slew of supplies he always kept on hand. Then slowly, he reached to let his hand rest against its feathery side.[break][break]

Once he had its acceptance, Benji started in on mending what he could with what he had.

The bombirdier let out the occasional little trill of concern as he worked, but soon enough, Benji had patched up a lot of the damage. Rather than wander off, the long-legged bird remained. Dark eyes blinked at him, accepting of his presence. The doctor smiled - widely so, as he offered it another stroke across its feathers before it disappeared into its own safari ball.[break][break]
The sight must've drawn the attention of other wild pokemon, because a koffing soon floated close. He nearly bumped into it as he turned around. The koffing watched him with its dopey-eyed smile, puffing gas innocently as it floated - waiting.[break][break]
"You wanna come too, huh?" he asked it with a laugh, "Sure, why not?" he had a spare ball, anyway. He gave it a toss with a comedic bit of flourish as he recollected his still-snoozing furret.
