Really, he had no one to blame but himself for being surprised over this being one of his first acts of business after coming back to the region. He was a busy man between moonlighting and otherwise, but it was hard to forget how much his Pokemon seemed to go crazy at the thought of visiting the Safari Zone.[break][break]

So, he found himself back within the expanses of the establishment. With an idle, watchful eye, he sighed and allowed the little ones to scamper around as he seated himself atop a nearby rock.[break][break]

As much as he was always at the mercy of the little ones, he often found himself watching the fields in curiosity of what would appear whenever he visited.[break][break]

For a while, the clearing seemed calm. Uneventful. An idle, seemingly bored eye continuously made its scan across the brush and the like before eventually falling down towards his feet, eying no particular grain of dirt nor rubble in particular as his hands found their ways into his pockets. With fingertips brushing against pack and lighter in their differing pockets, he pulled them both into view and flicked his cigarette case—weighted and embroidered, and certainly taken care of—open as he plucked a smoke from the row revealed before him.[break][break]

His eyes drifted towards the Yamask as it finally floated into sight, his brows furrowing in thought.[break]
He inhaled deeply once the smoke was lit, exchanging lighter for Safari Ball before tossing it and leaning back with a sigh.[break][break]

With a passive eye, he watched as the Safari Ball rattled around in a familiar manner before ultimately falling dormant. He waited for a few more moments after, just to be safe, before lifting himself up and making a brief, calm stride over.[break][break]

Another moment's time to crouch down and retrieve it, his gaze scanning around him once more. He met eyes with a Nickit as it seemed to be passing along, but before he could pay it much mind, there was a small bout of movement from the distant bounds of periphery. His back straightened as he glimpsed past the fox, allowing it ample time to scamper away as he noted his own Pokemon beginning to trek further into one of the zones.[break][break]

He settled his new catch onto a free dock on his belt before walking after them.[break][break]

Before he could travel far, he barely glanced down in time to avoid another little...thing.[break][break]

A familiar sight, but one that was still a bit off putting, nevertheless. The familiar rustling and waddling of a mimicked creature met both ear and eye as his steps came to a halt, all while his gaze found itself trailing after a Mimikyu that, frankly, he'd almost ran over. His brows furrowed slightly as he watched it for a few moments.[break][break]

He debated for a few more moments before ultimately tossing another Safari Ball its way and continuing along.[break][break]

A nut passed him as he walked along.[break][break]

A living and breathing one, namely. While he hadn't been oblivious nor ignorant enough to be unaware of what it was, nor the extent of odd creatures that shared the world with humanity, he still found himself at a crossroads with some specimen.[break][break]

Seedot just happened to be one such example.[break][break]

Just as it was known to do, it stumbled around on its small, stubby feet; a rather odd and otherwise uncanny sight if it hadn't been for the fact that odder sights were the norm. His eyes narrowed absentmindedly as he cast a sidelong glance towards it, but otherwise, he ultimately trailed his gaze forward once more on his way to rejoin his own Pokemon.[break][break]

Thankfully, he didn't have to wonder about any other oddities by the time he found his Pokemon again.[break][break]

'Oddities,' being by his own standards, at least. Again, creatures were creatures, and he would've been dumber than dumb to be caught off by any and all possibilities of new little beasts that emerged from whatever region they hailed from. After all, two of his most trusted Pokemon were a living pair of sword and shield, and...what was basically a living statue.[break][break]

So really, who was he to judge?[break][break]

Who was he to judge when they were right there—right in front of him—supervising the little ones as they frolicked through the grass? Definitely not him. Absolutely not. Not as they were having the time of their lives, by the look of it, and not when the occasion gave him a rare sense of break and relief.[break][break]

So, he continued to take in the sights while watching the little ones. Found it endearing.[break]
Even found an opportunity to lob another Safari Ball at a passing Shieldon once it stumbled from the grass.[break][break]

A sigh left his lips as he strode over to retrieve the newly captured Shieldon, eying the Safari Ball containing it within his grasp for a few moments before lowering a hand to begin tracing the notches and hook of his belt. As usual, the majority of said hooks were occupied with his common party, but as soon as he noted a free one, he gently tossed the capsule from one hand to the other in favor of securing it with the rest. He peered down to ensure its place before looking back up.[break][break]

His gaze, initially meant to focus upon his own, roaming Pokemon, instead found itself drifting towards a pelt of gold and black.[break][break]

It took him a moment to realize it in its entirety, but a sense of surprise and curiosity clicked in the back of his mind as he fully noted the presence of a Riolu— and a rare one, at that. There were many a time where he glimpsed one, whether in the wild or alongside their trainer, so the stars only aligned naturally when he looked at its abnormal coat.[break][break]

He eyed it for a small while, even more surprised when it caught wind of him and began to walk over, albeit with initial wariness. Watching it approach with a curiosity, he pondered his options before slowly beginning to crouch down with partial intent to shrink himself down (because, really, any tiny thing would probably balk at his normal height) before holding his hand out.[break][break]

It paused for a moment before continuing its track over, and after some debating, reached out to place its paw against the heel of his palm. Although small and stifled, he couldn't help but snicker and smile a bit. Furrowing his brows, he tilted his head slightly before patting its head and carefully tapping his last Safari Ball against it.[break][break]
