[attr="class","spiral"]Fernando does not respond to her taunting. It's wasted breath that could be allocated to more important things. Such as commands. Fortunately, there is no need. Not this early into the battle. Everything runs according to plan but he continues to observe. Timing his Pokemon is essential to holding them up to the standard of their practice and he can narrow down their moves to the second.

The only unforeseen anomaly is her MEGA EVOLUTION. But even the SPEED BOOST isn't an issue. The moment the ION DELUGE fills the field the PACHIRISU expects retaliation in regards to the FOLLOW ME. All eyes hone in on the lone rodent and it brings up a bright green barrier with PROTECT.

Olivia's SHARPEDO barrels into it with AQUA JET, knocking the Pokemon backwards but the shield holds when it tries to sink its ICE FANGS into it. Under the pressure of the Pokemon's STRONG JAW, the PROTECT starts to crack, splinters spread from the point of impact until it shatters like glass underneath the SHARPEDO'S vicious bite.

It needs to escape and the opponent's wide array of attacks won't let it. MUD BOMBS look to follow up with the SHARPEDO'S hold and the Pokemon weasels out of it by leaving a SUBSTITUTE in its place. Between the MUD BOMBS and AIR SLASH, the electric replica of the Pokemon shatters and the PACHIRSU is left scampering away from its last position, eager to avoid any subsequent attacks and escape the reach of the SHARPEDO'S fangs.

Fernando's PROBOPASS grounds itself into place, sparkling from its allies own BOOMBURST electrifying it, and the Pokemon's magnets spread out into a WIDE GUARD that'll prevent his team from suffering any team encompassing attacks. It looks toward the bulk of her formation and it fires off a DISCHARGE of electric energy. Rather than a concentrated beam, the attack spreads out across the ongoing RAIN DANCE, a wild fire cracker that spreads with the fury of a conflagration from rain drop to rain drop. The moisture in the ground makes the perfect environment for it to spread and it courses along the ground to hit everyone in front of PROBOPASS.

Without missing a beat, the EXPLOUDS continue to rattle the field with their boisterous BOOMBURST. The WIDE GUARD protects Fernando's team from the attack's backlash but the same cannot be said for Olivia's. This time it lacks the electric dazzle from ION DELUGE but that just means that her Mamoswine is no longer immune.

His LAPRAS is the only one to have suffered any real damage due to the EXPLOUD'S previous BOOMBURST. With a disgruntled grunt, the Pokemon shakes off the pain and SINGS a vengeful song. The sounds weave through the battlefield and spread out toward the largest target on Olivia's side of the field: her MAMOSWINE.

chione is an apex predator, beyond any of the pitiful pokemon that surrounded him - he was evolved. future sight foretold the electric rat's movements and as it attempted to flee the sharpedo it was blasted and held in place with psychic energies. chione took off like a rocket with aqua jet and held the squirrel in his mouth as he jetted towards the probass at incredible speeds. with a vicious roar, he spat out the pachirisu as the discharge was released and without hesitation, used his strong jaw to pierce through the wide guard with psychic fangs.

the gentle giant is put to sleep by the siren's song as mamoswine slumped to the floor, a perfect placemat for azumarill and vespiqueen to climb onto as what was left of the discharge was halted by the mamoswine's body and typing. "protect your queen." olivia ordered, and so the trio did. as the rain fell, water began to swirl around calypso body in aqua rings - the same water that meara had melded into. meanwhile, vespiqueen summoned forth her hive with an attack order. a swarm of combee spill forth and sacrifice their bodies to their queen as they are blasted to bits by the boomblast.

the healing waters allowed calypso and meara to endure as they followed the vespiqueen who stopped just short of the purple giant speaker pokemon. calypso's ears rang, yet she attacked with huge power and her bobbing aqua tail at the exploud in front of the vespiqueen. within the spinning rings of water, a searing scald shot at the other exploud nearby - curtesy of meara. calypso and chione had taken the blunt of the boomblast but both held their resolve, one due to healing waters and the other because of his mega evolution.

[attr="class","spiral"] The FUTURE SIGHT knows where the PACHIRISU is going to be before even it does. Without a telegraphed sign the Pokemon has no idea what's coming until it's entirely too late. When the blast implodes, it sends the PACHIRISU flying off towards the other side of the battle, isolated and away from the line of fire. Olivia's SHARPEDO is quick to follow up by sinking its teeth into something but in its haste it doesn't realize that it's not PACHIRISU left dangling between its teeth but instead an afterimage, another SUBSTITUTE.

Left undeterred, the PACHIRISU takes the opportunity to flee to the other end of the field and away from her MAMOSWINE. While the rest of Olivia's team deal with Fernando's attacks, the rodent uses this time to flood the field with another ION DELUGE. Electricity ripples across both the air and ground, surging throughout the area in preparation of another attack.

When the SHARPEDO spits out the SUBSTITUTE, the image fades and nothing is left to protect it from the DISCHARGE. It's PSYCHIC FANGS cuts a hole small enough to allow the SHARPEDO to advance enough to bite into PROBOPASS but the rest of the shield holds strong between the barricade of energy created by the PROBOPASS' magnets.

During all of this, the PROBOPASS remains still, amassing energy in preparation for the opponent's next move.

While Olivia's Pokemon clamber onto her MAMOSWINE to evade the DISCHARGE, Fernando's Pokemon continue to focus on their attacks. None of the pause to give the enemy any quarter. Their battle routine is linear and as soon as another BOOMBURST rips into the field another one is prepared with a deep inhale. Like church organs, they whistle with their intake and another set of BOOMBURST is launched shortly after Olivia's Pokemon take the time to user their counter attacks before charging forward.

Wherein Olivia's Pokemon have to clamber onto the MAMOSWINE, use their attacks, and then run across the field to enter melee range, Fernando's Pokemon only have to queue up their next attacks. It results in running straight into another set of BOOMBURSTS. But that's not the only set of attacks coming their way. PROBOPASS' DISCHARGE (2) and LARPAS' HYPER VOICE coats the entire field in electricity and his LAPRAS suffers through the same punishment as Olivia's Pokemon. It appears visible weaker with the way residual electricity crackles along its shell but there are necessary sacrifices for victory. His PACHIRISU however, shows no sign of weariness, re-energized with its VOLT ABSORB due to the entire field being blown up in crackling lightning.

Each of Fernando's Pokemon influences more than just a direct attack in one path. The nature of their attacks spread from their body acting as the epicenter, covering a full sphere around them. The way their attack converges only strengths the pain and damage of their blended chaos.

Should Olivia's Pokemon continue on and enter melee range, their attacks will find purchase among his. Fernando's Pokemon focus on the execution of their own attacks, well endowed that a battle of attrition will play to their favor much more than their opponents.

the siren's song swept across the battlefield along with explosive sound waves and electrical discharges. olivia winced at the sheer volume of the attack, her sleeping giant being roused awake due to the noise. yet, before any of her own pokemon could react olivia held a hand up, declaring, "cease." immediately, most of her pokemon loosened their guard - some like her sharpedo and azumarill breathing heavy with the former shedding it's mega evolution in a barrage of light. only melia, her vespiqueen, retained her regal disposition as she hovered over the ground with an annoyed buzz.

meara reformed outside of the spinning aqua rings and olivia gave a nod calypso, who caused the rain to cease. she was then recalled her in a beam of red light, followed by meara, chione, deiopea, and finally, the queen herself. perry entered the arena silently, approaching olivia from behind, an ornate wooden box in hand. she carefully placed each pokeball inside, ordering, "this battle is over, have my team tended to."

olivia spared a glance to fernando, "you may recall your pokemon, we have healing services here at silverspire and, of course, the sootopolis pokemon center is available to see to your pokemon." she pulled her badge out, and admired it as it caught the light. "at the beginning of this battle, i clearly stated the rules, challenger. defined the means by which you must strategize, the roles your pokemon must play in this match. you confirmed said rules by declaring what pokemon would serve what role."

suddenly, from the domed ceiling, a holographic display showed the beginning of the battle, both olivia and fernando shown releasing their pokemon. "with the completion of silverspire, and given some of my battles, i thought it best these battles be recorded for ease of explanation." the gym leader explained plainly. "you may keep said recording, or it will be deleted at your request."

"in the real world, at any time, any place, you and your own may be thrust into situations in which you do not have control." olivia began to explain, "where strict strategy must be followed to ensure victory, or survival. your attempt to hasten the battle via perish song only highlighted the need for precise planning - though i will admit your initial idea was... sound." she smirked at the pun, given all the sound based attacks.

olivia sighed, her little smirk fading, "regardless, i concede this battle, challenger. the next turn would have ensured all pokemon save your queen and king would be knocked out - and given the opportunity my pokemon would have fought to the end, but i would not be able to guarantee the defeat of both explouds -" the silver haired woman marched across the field, badge in hand. she held it out to fernando in her open palm, "as such, i hereby declare this challenge over, and you have won."
