she allows them to wander further from her this time, telling them that if they must hunt, she'll rely on her other partners to get the job done. 

they leave with nary an argument. she snorts.

[attr="class","anyapost"]the forest still teems with life. background noise grows louder now that prey pokemon can't catch the smell of her predators. still, very few dare to make an appearance. no doubt they can smell the lions on her. 

either that or they're smart. 

shiva and kain continue on their own, released from their duties. their exploring is not without fruition. frog legs are different, but they still taste delicious.

[attr="class","anyapost"]there's just something irresistible about fennekin to her. so when she stumbles across one, she drops another pokeball. locke leaps out, teeth bared. the poor fox stumbles over itself at the sudden appearance of the vicious pokemon. 

"locke, fetch." the houndoom's tail flicks as he bounds forward, claws outstretched. fire licks his teeth, blazing into electricity as he nears. but the fennekin has other plans for him. 

with a tilt of its head, it sends him flying with a well-timed psychic. anya raises a brow. 

locke gathers himself to his feet and lunges forward again. he delivers a swift thunder fang to the fennekin's side. it crumples and releases an angry spurt of flame in the houndoom's direction. 

a wolfish grin spreads across locke's jaws as the fire swathes around his body, leaving him unscathed, but glowing. he returns the favor with a super-charged flamethrower of his own and knocks the fennekin unconscious. 

"well fought."

somewhere, in the distance, her lions feast on crows. they satiate their bloodlust and pick feathers from between their claws, groom the blood from each other's fur. 

locke keeps his nose to the ground, scenting for anything else that his master might wish to capture.

[attr="class","anyapost"]locke's nose twitches and he comes to a hault. he raises his head, cocks it to the side, and watches as another houndoom crosses their paths. the dog looks at them warily; the fur at the nape of her neck bristles in a warning. 

two pups bark and scamper out from behind her. they cease their playing when they eye the woman and her houndoom, straying closer to their mother. 

locke flicks his tail and waits for the signal, but anya doesn't give him one. the houndoom mother noses her pups and they disappear into the forest. anya watches after them silently and then clears her throat.

[attr="class","anyapost"]the houndoom leads her to a gligar feasting on a few berry bushes and she frowns. he pants up at her, searching for approval, but instead she takes out his dusk ball and returns him. 

the gligar remains oblivious to her as she turns and goes her own way. the forest teems with life; pokemon rustle around in the bushes, but she doesn't pursue them. 

instead she reaches into her pocket and withdraws a whistle. the high-pitched cry is silent to her own ears, but she only waits a minute or so before shiva and kain lope back to her, tongues lolling.

[attr="class","anyapost"]clouds pass overhead; sunlight wanes as it filters through the thick treetop leaves. it'll be dark soon. shiva and kain, obviously, don't have any issues with the lack of light, but anya would rather finish things up and get back to her lab. 

with their hunger sated, they're more keen on fulfilling her orders. so they track down proper prey. when they come upon it, snuffling for grub under damp leaves. 

kain circles the back while shiva stalks foreword. and then she crouches low, tail flicking, mane burning brilliantly, blindingly. she dashes forward as flames encircle her. fur singeing, claws out, she throws her weight at the deino with a powerful overheat. it yelps as it goes down in a heap. 

anya tosses a safari ball.

[attr="class","anyapost"]shiva and kain watch as the ball comes to a rolling stop. her lioness gingerly picks it up between her teeth and pads back to her. anya pockets it without another word and turns on her heel, flicking her bobbed curls over her shoulder with her free hand. 

"we'll be going now, darlings," she says. the lions are worn and blink slowly up at her. they pad obediently behind her, though soft meows make anya turn. 

shiva noses past her, short strides elongating. kain follows shortly after and anya follows, stepping off of the path and back into the wilds. 

it's there that she finds the lions toying with a murkrow. they snarl at it and it fans its wings, backing up with a crow. anya snorts. 

"i told you both that we're done. you know i've no use for the birds." but then shiva darts forward, jaws clamping around the murkrow's leg. anya's brows furrow and she's about to draw the lioness' ball as punishment when the murkrow's frenzied caws dissolve into yips and yowls. 

with renewed fervor, anya demands the lions incapacitate the zorua. several swift bites to its side do the job and once it's pinned, anya drops her last safari ball with a satisfied smirk.
