EPILOGUE
no. nikolai will never understand the extent of what he's brought upon himself. because it's unneeded. fernando doesn't need any loose ends. he won't allow it. that's why his musharna is the last thing nikolai will see. its HYPNOSIS will lull him into a deep slumber. one that allows him to RECOVER as fernando goes to work. there's much to be done. ditto TRANSFORMS again and the duo of beheeyems go for the delicious nectar that is his memories. they're going to rewrite him. they're going to retrain him.
fernando has an army, a legion of pokemon at his beck and call. it's about time he's upgraded. there's bigger game to catch.
he's here to catch people.
beheeyem, the cerebel pokemon. it has strong psychic powers. using its fingers that flash three different colors, it controls its opponents and rewrites their memories.
the musharna is their nurse. it latches onto his unconscious head, providing the stabilizing component that feeds them his inner thoughts. as the DREAM EATER, it paints a perfect picture of his every thought, releasing a series of images from the thick mist that fumigates from its blowhole.
the first option is obvious. nikolai will remember little of what's transpired. the memory is not repressed, it's deleted entirely. that little chuck of his brain's processing power is snipped at the root, akin to dumping out browser history. the only thing he remembers is that fernando confronted him at the league's bequest. and, in anger, in a fit of rage at the accusations, nikolai fought back. ready to kill, to slit his throat, to regress to his beast's origins.
a great guilt will grip at him. it'll fester as time passes until it becomes unbearable. nikolai will do anything to repay the debt. he owes silph more than he can ever know. it borderlines obligation, one that fernando knows well enough. fernando is to nikolai what perse is to fernando.
it makes him smile. crackle, even. how menacingly delicious.
the next is persephone amavi . this is when the NIGHTMARES are given free reign. it's a slow, insidious process but one that allows the subtlety of it to remain unnoticed. it own't be be instant, nor in the next week, but a seeping, compulsory terror will grip. the thought, the sight, even the mention of persephone amavi will make him relive today. fernando's face will be absent, as is the scenario's he's facing, but he'll remember being sentenced to death. it'll eat at him. perse is now a poison. one that leaves him flaccid and petrified. she is his trigger.
thalia black is no different. fernando's obsession with her is more nuanced than his with perse. it pivots on possession rather than devotion. anything that applies to perse can be attributed to his memories of thalia black . but it doesn't end there. her position as a lead figure of the league becomes distorted. all the in-fighting, all the tension that comes from the various character in high positions. they become a rift that nikolai will sift through. he's prone to argue, to belittle her position as well as her work. it'll come gradually, snide comments, expressed sarcasm. until it breaks them, until he despises her with his own rendition of what the league should be.
and what should it be, nikolai? fernando grins as he watches the smoke plume into another image. nikolai's mindset will match his own. they share a vision now. the league will follow the will of silph.
nikolai will be the seed of discord that takes root in the turmoil. it may take weeks, months even, but it will be done.
dahlia goode will be no different. @yiannis and @alexander will no longer be the only figure heads that doubt her capabilities. gossip will spread and nikolai will add his own input. one that ridicules them for allowing rocket to even exists. he won't trust her, much less report to her.
the gym leaders now face a rival, one who doubts their strength and spits on their efforts. with time, nikolai will blame them for the league's incompetence. he will challenge them for their title, questioning if they deserve the prestige they are given.
the rest of the time goes into sewing a darker pattern into his psyche. all it takes is a series of secret words and nikolai will have no choice but to obey. the memories remain locked in the depths of his mind. fernando knows the trigger and commits it to memory. only his porygon is allowed to DOWNLOAD such sensitive information, hashing it in a pattern only fernando is familiar with. only after it's encrypted does he allow it to be stored elsewhere. a hacker may be able to decrypt it but it'll only be gibberish. the pattern is something committed to memory, personable.
nikolai is now his second most loyal ally and his sleeper agent. fernando will see his rewards with time. by the time nikolai recovers from his injuries, it'll already take effect. again, fernando insists on subtle, believable changes that will allow them to be inconspicuous.
the memory of his pokemon will fluctuate. those that are kept secret are already discarded. fernando pockets them after they melt, whisked away to be retrained in the same manner as their master. his gym pokemon remain a distant memory, one that details the fate of falling in battle. his sentiments will be fleeting and momentary. he'll probably forget. only his nido's will stay. they're iconic and fit the perfect frame for his image as a rocket beast. they too are tampered with, held back by PSYCHIC as fernando finishes their conditioning. not much changes. they're fiercely loyal but savage beyond command. they will listen but reeling them in will prove impossible. calling on them is to call for blood. they will kill their way back into fame. nikolai will be helpless to stop them.
fernando will not leave him for dead. not like this. the constant treatment from RECOVER and eventually, once slowking is defrosted and back to some capacity, HEAL PULSE leave him able to stumble around. confused, disoriented, and stuck with a strange sense of AMNESIA, it shouldn't be hard for him to navigate his way into blundering his way back to his escape party.
fernando walks away the victor. at the cost of his time, his pride, and most of his body heat, he's rewarded a series of new weapons. with the events to come, he'll need them. this is only the end of ACT I. they have a whole play to attend to. this is only the beginning. the first badge of many.
