It had been a genius plan in her head. To attract good fire Pokemon, she’d need to show off one of her own. She also needed a Pokemon that took kindly to being ridden – or at least, kindlier than her Type: Null. She could knock out two birds with one stone by riding Hunter up and down the route, and see dozens of creatures as they went!

In practice, it meant clinging for dear life on the back of an Arcanine as he rode like the wind through grass, over ponds and dangerously close to trees. “Hun- Hunter!” The beast may have been best known for its graceful gliding, but the inexperience rider on his back bumped and swayed so much that she could hardly get her words out. “S-Slow down! Or just stop!” The latter command got through to her beast, and it slowed to a gentle stop in the middle of the path. He looked no worse for wear. She looked likes he’d been thrown into a tumble drier.

Now that they were moving slowly enough for her to make out Pokemon, who would she see?

A little hump of a Pokemon, apparently. Numel, the Pokedex said once she scanned it. The thing seemed a little dopey. Lazy. Too slow. Not Camp Annie material, in other words. The criteria for that was arbitrary and changed depending on the day or weather, but nobody had managed to call her out on that yet! “Okay. This time, a lot slower.” She patted her Arcanine on the back, gesturing for him to give her a gentler ride that time around.

OOC: Catch!

Riding along at a light jogger’s pace not only meant that Annie’s lunch stayed in her stomach – it also allowed daring Pokemon to stand side by side with them. Such was the case with the little fox that came to join them. It had the eyes of a Vulpix, the colour of the Arcanine she’d rode in on, and the beauty both were renowned for. An easy candidate for Camp Annie – but she couldn’t have Hunter fight while she was on top on him. Luckily, she didn’t have to.

A few of her fire types had taught her the way into their hearts was through their stomachs. From her pocket, she retrieved a handful of berries, freshly gathered from her farm. A few pats on the back with her frfee hand told her mount to stop, so she could reach down and offer the food to their soon-to-be friend. Once she got close, and the Flareon had its chance to sniff, she let the berries drop. She knew before it happened that the fox would want its berries roasted, and there was no need for her hand to be charred too. With the Pokemon’s head down to eat, Annie moved in for the kill! Well, for the Pokeball, bouncing it against the little beast’s back.
