Lucario growls to alert Gavin of threat, and the scientist turns his head.

He watches the approach of the three-headed bird with raised brows. Its tangled feet give it a rather unique gait, and he's reminded of Frankenstein's monster as it shambles and shuffles toward him.

It could prove a more dangerous opponent for Lucario than Gavin would like, especially with the aid of its swords dance, so Gavin looks to the Alcremie.

"Show me what you can do, then."

She whimpers, withering under his gaze. He fights the urge to roll his eyes, knowing such an action will only frighten her further. This one requires a gentler touch that he barely has the patience for.

Her hesitation proves folly: Dodrio launches a tri attack that bursts against her creamy composition. Her whines now indicate pain rather than nerves, and Gavin gestures to the freak-bird. "Fight back. I know you can."

Dazzling gleam creates a blinding flash that stuns the bird momentarily, the Dodrio stumbling back, but she does not follow up the attack as he'd expected her to. Instead, she elects to decorate his Lucario; the dual-type cants his head as she tosses an aromatic powder toward him, then yips and launches into action.

He slams into Dodrio with extremespeed and knocks the bird onto its rump, following up with a harsh swipe of his metal claws to drive it off.

Then, without Gavin's direction, the Lucario turns to the Alcremie and gives it a curt nod before firing off a heal pulse, repairing some of the damage the bird had done to its new comrade.

"That... works," Gavin decides, shrugging. "No idea what it was all about, but it works."

Gavin eyes the Spiritomb with disinterest. Isra Nightingale lauded the usefulness of ghost-types, and Gavin had to agree when it came to their utility, but this one just... what the hell was it even supposed to be?

"Dazzling gleam," he orders.

It takes the Alcremie a second or two to realise he's talking to her; it's not until he turns a withering gaze upon the fairy-type that she squeaks and jumps into action.

The blinding flash of the dazzling gleam reflects off Gavin's glasses and makes him squint, but it seems to have an even greater effect on the Spiritomb. The ghastly creature puts Alcremie to sleep with a hypnosis, and Gavin huffs an irate sigh.

"Lucario."

The decorated dual-type finishes its foe with a dragon pulse. Gavin nudges Alcremie with his boot, but she remains asleep.

Ugh.

Persian stalks out of the shadows, over-large head and all, and Gavin sighs. Another fruitless night of hunting, then.

"Get up,"" he urges Alcremie.

She doesn't, and Gavin rolls his eyes.

"Lucario, take it out, and then we're leaving."

Dog versus cat: a tale as old as time that ends, in this case, with the cat yowling in pain and fleeing from the wrath of Lucario's aura sphere barrage.

It was time for them to go home.
